  1. I'm sorry for your loss. Blue pies, black bread.
  2. >Do you think we will get to 2000 posts ? Hell, I'll be here until the end of the year, and maybe longer... Let's see. In two weeks, the threads gotten almost 1700 posts. That'll be 3000/month. So by the end of the year we should have about 7500. Unless we decide to let this one die and start a new one. ANd now, something completely different: The new computer the IT-department brought me yesterday has something my previous one didn't: A sound card! Company policy wont let me listen to a radio since there'll never be an agreement on what should be on. But with the sound card, the 'Net and a pair of headphones... Oh yeah, I've been listening to the radio all day!
  3. >Is it from the alitude that causes the problem, or the >sudden change in altitude from climbing in the aricraft >or the actual skydive?? It's the sudden change in air-pressure(~=altitude), on the aircraft or during the jump itself. When you're congested, the pressure inside your head can't balance itself with the outside pressure fast enough; when the pressure difference grows big enough, pop goes the eardrum. >If you were to do a HnP instead of a full altitude jump >(13k+) would it make any difference ? Yes. When recovering from a cold(and sometimes when I've been sick as well, stupid, I know), I do a hop'n'pop to see how I feel. If I feel fine, I go full altitude. >Or what about if you were to go snowboarding instead >on a mountain that is about 8,000' MSL. It's not the altitude, it's the pressure changes. Erno
  4. >People familliar with the sport say that the attempt was > highly dangerous but that Mr Bloggs was an experienced >bagel eater who is well known on the compitition circuit. BWAHAHHAHAA! Oh dear I'm hiding behind my monitor again...
  5. So just to get this straight, was the situation similar to the attachment?
  6. >So what are the chances of getting brakkie munching >on the next X-games pro tour? I don't think accidents qualify as 'extreme sports'. You'd have to do it on purpose, maybe then... Hmmm, the mental image: -"Check it out dude, Joe is going to do a two-week-old dried bagel, without a glass of water!" -"Whoa man, extreme!" -"Gnarly, dude! Go joe! Go joe!"
  7. >Nope, just an over supply of idiots. Oh, they've flooded the market with those all over. I hope the mommy-bird accepts the little one back...
  8. >They are fine. I am just short of one. Apparently one > of the workers took it home. He will bring it back.....I >had a 'chat' with him Well damn! So is there a big market in SA for scratching, biting and clawing pets?
  9. >I wonder what's in store today. The usual, I'm sure; cold in Finland, Hot in SA&Oz, wet in Scotland... Coffee, food, world politics, tired americans, etc....
  10. PM Sangiro, I don't think anyone else can cancel an account.
  11. There was a thread on this very subject a couple of weeks ago. A search on this forum should bring it up.
  12. >And under Erno's 'if you break sweat' definition.....Well >lets just not go there shall we.... I did see this one coming... Still, sex can be a good cardiovascular workout! And yes, there is the term 'sports-sex'...
  13. >but without an element of competition, they could be >defined as merely an activity, or pastime. If I break a sweat doing it, I'm calling it sports. >am trying to think of a recognised 'sport' that has >minimal physical effort, whilst being competitive. >Clay pigeon shooting for example.....? Darts? Not very strenuous, but according to my definition 'physically challenging', since it requires good eye-hand co-ordination. Wow, my definition of 'sports' seems to be pretty wide....
  14. Jussi Laine is originally from Imatra, Finland, but has been mostly jumping in Helsinki for a few years. He used to have a website but it was closed for some reason some time ago. I think at the moment DZcom is the best place to find his pics.
  15. "I'm a good girl now", she just said in the NA-thread.
  16. >I always associate 'sport' with an activity that has >an element of competition involved. I have to disagree with this definition. I go jogging every now and then, I rollerblade in the summer, and I've even been to the gym a few times. I consider these all 'sports'. My definition requires only that the activity be physically challenging in ine way or another. Does competing against oneself count? >Therefore, I don't class base jumping as a sport, more of a pastime BASE - The extreme pastime!
  17. I installed this one. It takes a little more effort to setup, but offers quite a lot of functionality.
  18. Oh well. I ended up installing a small program that provides the same functionality as quicklaunch and more. Now all I need is a good, free file-explorer to replace the one that came with Active desktop. Any suggestions?
  19. >Does anyone know if the search facility is working properly? I don't think it does. There have been complaints about it at "Error and bug reports". I know I've tried to find threads that I know were there a couple of weeks ago, and the search page wont find them. The same threads can be found by manually browsing the forums.
  20. Hmm. I don't think I'm going to be sacrificing kittens at work... I'll have to wait until I get home!
  21. I found the answer.... The quicklaunch thingie is a feature of IE4. I'm going to have to uninstall IE6, install IE4, activate Active desktop and re-install IE6. And I don't have admin-rights. Looks like I'll be bugging the helpdesk guys again...
  22. I should hope not... Seriously, I'm getting pissed off. It can't be that difficult to fix it... but I don't know how to do it.
  23. The IT-administrator just brought me a new computer. But the new one doesn't have the quicklaunch area in the taskbar! The WinNT version is the same. Where's it gone??
  24. Ok, since I promised details... First, when I got there, I pressed the buzzer on the intercom to get in. A voice answers: -"Yes?"(yes, in English). I figured it was Paul speaking english since I knew that he was expecting some guests from England too. -"Avaa ovi, Erno täällä." -"What?" -"Umm.. Open up!" -"Oh, ok." I get in and find one of the English guests housesitting while Paul is out getting more beer. I got to speak more English last week than the whole of last year combined I think! Good thing too; while you guys have kept my written English in good shape, my spoken English was getting a bit rusty. After the party got properly started, we were pretty much doing the usual stuff: Drinking great amounts of beer and punch, discussing worthy topics, sampling "Original Dave's extreme killer sauce"(or something like that, very hot stuff), watching skydiving videos. Then I passed out. Then I was dragged up and into a restaurant, where more drinks were consumed, and some dancing was done. I crashed at Paul's place. The next morning I had the Mother of all hangovers. One the 'Please, kill me now'-types. In the evening we went flying a kite.
  25. Whoa man... Them colors....
