Almost as funny as "engrish"... But what do we call these? My favorite was the repair shop one. Erno -
>it seems in all of my skydiving dreams my canopy opens >JUST in time for me to land safely. what's up with that??? Hey, beats the hell out of bouncing half the time! I never get any long canopy-rides in my dreams, but half the time I get none: ohshitohshitohshitouchwell, better luck next time what's up with THAT? Erno

Oh wait. You don't want to resize animated GIF:s now do you? That's going to be tricky... Resizing other images (like jpegs) is easier: ------------------------------------------------------------------------- click "Start"--> "Programs" -->"Accessories" --"Paint" Open the picture you want to resize. Open the "Image"-menu and click on "Stretch/skew" (The terms might be a bit off since I'm running the Finnish version of Windows) Enter the new size in percentages and click ok Save. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Erno

>But I still cant find a way to resize my images to fit the >attachment restriction. I'm so stupid on computers! HELP!!!!! Like I said, you need an image manipulation program. Do you have one? Photoshop? PaintshopPro? Corel? Something else? What operating system are you using(assuming Windows, but which one?)? Erno

Does anyone know if this crazy mf tried it yet? http://www.digitaldog.co.nz/wingsuit.html Or is this just BS? Erno

>.But when I go to change the image in my profile...it wont. Even > though it says the change has been successful, it still shows the > same old icon on all my posts. Your old pic comes from the browser-cache. Since your new pic-file has the same name as the previous one, your browser won't bother to reload it unless you tell it to. I think with IE you can do this by holding down shift or control(can't remember, try both) and clicking "reload". With Opera you could just right-click the image and choose "reload image". > Also, how can I shrink an image to fit the attachment limit? With your favorite image-manipulation program! Such as Photoshop, Paintshop Pro, etc... They all have a "resize"-function somewhere. Erno

>Uh oh... Just a little? Eventually? Not really... First you'll need to jump to feel good. After a while you'll feel like crap if you're not jumping, and need to jump just to feel normal... You need to increase the dosage all the time, and eventually you OD. Erno

>should have a canopy over my head, but I don't. Look up to > see a spinning d-bag over my head with the last 3 closing stows > still done up. I had enough altitude to shake the canopy out, >and be out of twists by 2100feet, I had a similar mal a little over a year ago, but mine proceeded to go into a violent spin, so I had to cut it away. The thing is; when I was packing the chute before the jump, I double-stowed the rubberband(regular yellow kind) on one of the locking-stows. As a student I was told to never ever do that. It was just too loose, and I was too lazy to change it... But then again, a lot of people double or triple-stow all their rubberbands without any problems. What's up with that? Erno

> I remember reading an incident report about a guy who did >some minor sewing on the outside of his container and somehow > caught his bag with some of the stitches so it wouldn't deploy, > and he went in. I guess you're talking about Patrick deGayardon. More info here. >Sometimes though I wonder if we put too much trust in someone just >because they have the title "rigger". I mean there is a big difference in >riggers. Some have a much greater knowledge base. True. However, any rigger actively working at some dropzone is probably a safe bet. Erno

>The "need" being in case your sleeping bag gets lost and you > need a quick replacement? Hey! A Fury would work as a sleeping bag! You might get a bit chilly in some sub-100 pocket rocket! Seriously, if I start practising sky-surfing again, I prefer a large and forgiving canopy for the openings. I also used my old Maverick on my first bird-man jumps, and sure enough, I got some line-twists I probably would have been forced to cutaway on a smaller canopy. And those demo-jumps in small confined areas? The ability to sink-in a canopy in deep brakes can come in handy. And if I find myself travelling to Norway again(I know, I should by a proper BASE-canopy) it'll come in handy. Erno

... and people bitching about spelling get to be called Grammar Nazis... See, spelling is important. Erno

>He could wax the lines . ?? There was something wrong with the "full profile" link, so I couldn't check your rigging qualifications, but judging from your other posts, you are a rigger. I have never heard of people waxing their lines, and would be careful about applying any chemicals on mine. What kind of wax could be used? Would it really make a difference? Erno

> He flies a Volocity 84 and he showed me his lines. They were >all grey and slightly worn. He said thats from the slider coming > down the lines. So the first thing that poped into my head was > to put somthing with less friction I suppose Velocities come with stainless-steel grommets? I don't think there are any practically usable materials slicker than that... Vectran lines do wear out quite quickly on HP-canopies, and should be changed around every 300-500 jumps. How many jumps are there on the canopy in question? Erno

>"Second, F111 canopies are nearly impossible to sell on the used market." So not true! I just bought a Fury for 84€! My old Maverick didn't pass the inspection so I had to replace it. I think everyone should have at least one F111-canopy in store in case the need arises for one... Erno

>Recently, my teammate managed to pack his barigo altimeter into main >container obviously under the d-bag This year my team has managed to drop -1 helmet(with skytronic audible). Lost in the woods. -1 genuine Protax-still camera. Lost in the woods(with a roll of fine pics too!) -1 shoe, following a foiled Mr Bill attempt.(Didn't bother to look for it...) I wonder what's next... Erno

I have absolutely no idea how it would work. What I do know is that if you spray the whole canopy(or just the topskin) with silicone, it's probably going to get unbelieveably icky to handle... An old F111-canopy will not land nicely with a higher than 1.0 wingloading. You might want to consider renting gear until you have the money for a new canopy. Erno

I got the notorious "Too many connections"-error for almost 5 hours straight! (0800-1300 EET). Was there something wrong with the servers or was the site just unusually crowded? Erno

> I definately wouldn't jump it until a rigger had inspected it for me. Ok, just trying to be a "home-rigging nazi" here... Erno
