  1. You're drunk, huh? Gold course? I'm reading this going "Huh?" Golf, right? Dude, feed your head.
  2. Well, see, it's different than SDA because there is just enough humidity in the air to make a breeze be cooling, rather than like standing in a convection oven. 1000' AGL: DOOR!
  3. They sell compression shorts at most sporting goods stores. I had the same problem and I still wear compression shorts now. Way more comfortable. Baseball "sliding" shorts can help too.
  4. QuoteJust wanted to share some pics of my new place. Quote What's that "My" shit. Dude, you are so out of practice
  5. Got an update from Shannon, who saw Sandi's parents last night as they were leaving the hospital. She's stable and alert. She's scheduled for her next surgery next Thursday, and may remain in the ICU until then. The delay is necessary to let the swelling go down. Keith has posted this in the Northern California Skydivers net: don't attempt to visit Sandi. Her folks have asked that we let her rest. I burglarized my way in to that ICU to see Carrol when he was laid up, but it was selfish on my part. She should be out in the regular ward soon enough. I haven't been able to talk with my wife about this one yet. Sandi is about THE LAST person I would expect to be associated with an accident. That's usually my job. "What this time, Divot?" Prayers and good vibes from me and my girls.
  6. So upload the reticule to my memory stick, use it instead of that silly curtain jpeg and 'speriment. Just doing it by hand, the center track seems to elevate. That is, with the video , the dot seems to move upward as I zoom in. There is no movement in windage. Q, I suspect that this is because the laser is above the camera, and that distance becomes visible as the zoom exaggerates it. I'm thinking out loud here. Just as when a subject moves closer, the differences between the parallel lenses becomes apparent (sidemount vs. topmount), when zooming, you're gonna get the same issue, because you are in effect moving the subject closer. ?
  7. I knew I could depend on you for a nice weapon analogy I could understand So, if PC120's and my 28-200's optics function the same as a Leupold 3.5-14, Everything will remain in the X ring regardless of the power setting. It seemed too obvious.
  8. Ehhh??? 3 to 1, 5 to 1... Once it's past critical mass, the numbers mean nothing..... it's just icing on the cake.... Lumster, let me share a little Prison Wisdom. The difference between a punk and a victim is that the victim keeps fighting. Nogiveup, baby. Nogiveup.
  9. What, I get another MujieDive just cause I'm the only guy putting up his hand? OK This time we'll keep it under 200
  10. Five to one? Ferget it! I can barely survive the current 3 to 1 ratio of females to male in my house. Gahd. I'd be hanging wallpaper and laying tile outnumbered that bad! I will be setting up camp tomorrow night at Davis. Still waiting to see if B-squared's gonna need my other tent. Plenny of room! -Still waiting on BlondeLisa pictures. At least now we'll be able to tell you guys apart!
  11. Is there a Classic or GTi I can demo gonna be there? Come on JP, let's flock! As to the rest: Yes.
  12. We miss you like the air! But the clean air of NorCal! While you and the RW monsters are speed-docking with furrowed brows, Team JP is going to be recording SERIOUS nig-noggery involving pool-toys and cargo planes. Enjoy your trip. If you change your mind, rent a Corvette and get up here.
  13. I put together a new setup to allow me to shoot flash photos with my 10D. I'll get some pictures up after the American Boogie, but I'm finally to the last bit, adjusting my ringsite. I have a concentric site on this helmet (DeuceCam Mark II ). In order to get everything sited in (In parallel, see Quade's articles) does zooming the lens on the PC120, and putting the zoom lens on my 10D increase the accuracy of the siting? I use a laser site that is aligned with the video camera. So if I zoom in on the dot with the video, and then zoom in on the dot with the 10D with the 28-200 at 200 am I increasing my site accuracy? It really seems to be the case when I back everything out to the .5 and the 24mm. But sometimes what seems obvious is wrong, so I'm looking for feedback. JP Edited to add, I focus on the laser dot at least 60 feet from the camera. (Infinity setting on the lens)
  14. Your coming to the boogie to get sleep??? Yeah thats going to happen!!! Earplugs......check.
  15. Hey, Mouth! She get lost this time too? Have a great time! JP

  17. Dude, the biomechanical cable is a serious snag hazard! Gaffer tape that or something. You know what? If I was a master of nanotechnology, like you, I'd find a way for this stuff to be smaller and lighter

    Beer!

Good luck Brian. I had three code-3 wrecks. I was rumoured to have a deep and abiding hatred of Chevrolet Caprices. Anybody ask you if they could call you an ambulance?
  21. Sandi had a CAT scan and there is no report of neurological damage. She was conscious the whole time, apparently, and was awake and talking when the helicoptor took her out. I was told the injuries are confined to facial; jaw, cheekbones, orbits, palate. No skeletal or C-spine stuff.
  22. Yes, Q. ChopChop and Hookitt have posted about it in incidents. I didn't look there first. I don't start my week in the incidents forum. GirlFallDown and I talked, Sandi is a big part of the Byron Love, our whole little community is pretty shook up, and grateful she's OK.
  23. Skybaby, AKA Sandi, a beautiful person, a talented skydiver, coach, and manifest diva, had a landing accident yesterday. I spoke with Chris DeBar, who was there, and apparently she got hit by a dust devil while she was about 15 feet up. She landed face-first, incurring multiple serious injuries. She was medivaced via helicopter from the DZ. She was in surgery last night for about nine hours, and is stable, sedated, and recovering in the ICU of John Muir. Chris told me she mostly needs good vibes right now. Last Saturday she was holding my left hand at 10,000 feet or so on my biggest RW skydive yet. Sandi, you'll be reading this soon. Thanks for the pep talk last Sunday morning. You're loved. Just ask and you shall recieve. Prayers and good vibes!
  24. "On War" by Carl Von Clausewitz "The Prince" by Machiavelli "The Prince" is always relevant. "On War" can get a little dense, but the stuff about the friction of war, and the fog of war and the notion of chaos is pretty perceptive.
