  1. Biggest spider I EVER SAW was in Australia, in Cairns. Christ. I dare any arachnaphobe to look at this site. Scary, scary shit. Less scary than raising twin daughters, but still pretty f*cking scary! You've been warned. http://www.xs4all.nl/~ednieuw/australian/Thumbnails/Thumbnails.htm
  2. And digital stills. Find me. I'm usually under the band.
  3. My man, that is what is locally called a "wolf-spider" and you can hear them when they walk. Buying this house in Antioch, cured me of many phobias, cause I just couldn't afford to move out. spiders, fucking SCORPIONS, and the like. Nice photo. Those ones actually make a noise when you kill them. I actually killed one with a Beeman pellet gun in my garage a couple years ago. They f&cking growl. Yicky poo. Uck. Nasty.
  4. Yeah?! Well my Dad is bigger than your Dad!
  5. Oldgit, your argument is valid. But even in film, the best had several gaffers loading and unloading cameras. Now we can do that for much less money. On only one camera. I am still badass, but I can get 60 shots per skydive, instead of 36. I am not as badass as somebody who jumped a huge format camera and only got one photo per shoot. It's good for the sport.
  6. I love you too, Michele. And I am more than halfway through my course, and the conversation we had inspires me every day. Love and happiness to you, and call me. XO JP
  7. Holmes, I will be there at 8 AM. The Van is already there. I am feeling the love, and we are on like Donkey Kong. Two way? Shiite. You bet! And let me use this opportunity to tell you I sold an AFF level one picture you and Gareth are in to Skydiving magazine. My first. BEER! You rock TIMMEH! You just freaking rock! Gareth too. But some folks just embody the Byron love. Supercoolio. (this isn't the one)
  8. Dude! It was me! Even without a camera they flock to me. Here. Let me soften the blow. Don't YOU just look fabulous in this picture? But when you leave your adorable wife all by herself in the sky, even busted up old camera fliers are going to move it. Here's Farrah skydiving with Marc.
  9. I use only the center focusing point and don't have any trouble, usually, with my 28-200mm Canon.
  10. I HAVE ALREADY DONE A KINGAIR JUMP TODAY! HAHAR! With the lovely Farrah, Marc! Two way head down exit to sit, and then Farrah did some transitions. I went out there to set up that huge tent, but we went skydiving instead. Got a call from the school to pick up one of my daughters cause she has a mild fever. I even bailed out so quick that Daryl packed my rig. I'll be out tomorrow for load one on whatever. Abuse me now, but I won't be at the party Saturday night, that's my daughter's seventh birthday party night. So I'll be showing up early Sunday poking the laggards into getting ready for the DZ.record jump. I may stop by the hotel to bang on doors on the way. BRING IT!
  11. Sunshine, are they still hating Meunkey?
  12. The weather is not sucking for the start of the Boogaloo. http://www.weather.com/weather/hourbyhour/USCA0147?begHour=2&begDay=269
  13. I have the Stroboframe. I like it better than the Bogen.
  14. What freaks me out, is that I can read your posts in that upper-class British accent you have. I'm impressed though, you haven't castigated anybody about their genetic or intellectual failings by name. Yet. I'm also frankly disappointed you haven't been able to work in how any jumper is more likely to experience success if they employ the superior fit and comfort of a Wings Harness and Container System. But the day is young.
  15. The sage has spoken. Here's a picture of Gareth and HOOKITT AFF-wrassling. Over Byron. Where all the fun is going to be this weekend.
  16. Yeah, and that's why I have suspected the digital Rebel was really going to take off. Lots of camera fliers have low-end film cameras, and the 300 is going to outperform them, plus it's digital. It allows unlimited potential to take bad pictures!
  17. ACK! A joke! B-Squared is the only person who can announce shenanigans on behalf of SDA or DZdot. -But SURPRISE! MUJIE96! YOU ARE ALREADY A WINNER! Collect your non-holiday-boogie-affiliated prize at Eloy between Christmas and New Year's Eve!
  18. Bump. Hmmm. What picture? Here's more fun at Byron!
  19. I like that one. I don't think I had any dreams last night. Well, that I remember.
  20. Second prize is a funnel dive with BigBen with Deuce on video.
  21. Those folks do great work. There are plenty of plastic-bodied Canons out there. I don't think that would make the difference for me. For tandem and AFF I think that rebel would be fine. I think it would be found wanting on shooting exits. If you have a big chunk plus divers coming out of the Van, it's nice to just blast during that process. Get 6 or seven shots with the plane in the frame before moving over the formation - and then not have to worry if you are taking pictures or if the camera is buffering the exit still. Balloons and Helicopter exits would probably benefit from the faster frame-rate of the 10D too. That said, for a grand you can be shooting high quality digital, including a lens that is OK for skydiving at 18mm, and will zoom enough for in-camera framing of ground shots. If you have the money and the neck, I'd get the 10D, still, but if you lack either, that Rebel looks pretty good.
  22. Did you guys even go to bed? Or did you just stay up watchin infomercials (Sunny) or strung out mildly hallucinating on precriptions meds? (Muenkey). And actually "Listen fucker!" is a sure beginning to a conversation that will end in bloodshed.
  23. Over here, TG, it's JP, your one and only Byron fellow SF3 flier.
  24. Somebody better tell me that landing area map is cool. Or I'll go out and mark the real thing with orange pavement paint. I'll do it.
  25. Maybe in my new S3 I could get video
