  1. Tom, I appreciate your trying to help, but if that rig fits like that in flight, it does not fit well on the ground, by definition. For student rigs, I can appreciate the belly band, and for folks with very large torsos. If that lovely young lady bought that rig custom, and was properly measured, she should sent it back to the manufacturer. If she got a great deal on a used rig that she needs to tighten up, your product fits the bill and will save her some money as opposed to having the harness modified. I think the first choice is a rig that fits, though.
  2. I know you're really invested in this topic, but most of all it's about pants and pajamas. This past school year, as I was driving my kids to school, we drove past the kids going to the local public school every day. A good percentage of the boys had their pants hanging off their asses and a similar percentage of the girls were wearing print cotton pajamas. We got a good look, as the kiddidles were slouching through the intersection against the light. Very cool to walk against the light, you know Anyhow, the fashion show before during, and after school was not conducive to learning. It's other stuff, too, like respect for each other and the environment. You won't find litter on our campus, and the local elementary school is covered with it. And it's the kids doing the littering, or not, in each case. I also guarantee you we are spending less for janitorial services and have cleaner facilities. Our janitors don't have to endure disrespect from our children. Even if our kids school had lower scores on math and english, I'd keep them there. There are just nicer, more articulate kids there, and adults who love them. On average, nicer articulate people do better than rude concieted ones. Gareth Holder being the obvious exception.
  3. I suspect you survived the UK school system, so your perception of what is appalling may be just skewed a bit. Nice to see you poking about mischeivously, though. And if you are talking about the institutional coersion that goes on at my kid's school, it involves much standing, and kneeling, not just sitting* *avoid new standard institutional reference to pedophelia in responses, please.
  4. I never used bold, SSC. If a freefly suit is baggy enough to slow a flier down to 95, it will be very problematic for that same flier in that suit to get to 140, belly-to-earth, cheststrap showing on a passenger in a Vector harness. I wear a tight suit with huge wings and can fly with anything but Aubrey , so far. I've been running into some very defensive freefliers lately. Yikes. Like I said in my original post, if you can get the shots, bully for you! I would love to see it, it must be very impressive. PS, what shots does a camera wing suit prevent ?
  5. I need an additional 23 degrees when I have my 11 pound flash/dig/vid setup on
  6. Hey, Tom? Fill out your profile, it will gain you a lot of credibility that is lacking so far. That rig did not fit well on the ground either. Appearance of a good fit does not count. Simply grabbing that container and lifting would have demonstrated that to any halfway decent gear check. Your retrofit belly band seems like a way for a small jumper to use a rig that is way too big for them.
  7. The idea that they are divisionary is ridiculous. If you go to the public (government/free in the US) school down the street from my kids Catholic school, you will see voluntary segregation by race at the tables and on the playground. That is not acceptable in my parish. It also brings us parents in to closer contact with each other. We are all Catholic (yes, there's non-catholics in the school), but the race and ethnicity is all over the map. In my community, the environment and challenge at Holy Rosary is way better than the local schools.
  8. Good lord Bets, you are so sweet. A vertical tunnel will be worthless for wingsuit. It was dynamite for RW and FF training, though. I am REALLY looking forward to the Eloy tunnel. The Perris tunnel is just the bomb. I'd like to get Bets vertical with me horizontal in there. It was great watching Eli with Tony doing that. Wingsuits will need a horizontal or maybe 45 degree tunnel for training. Niche market.
  9. I was, like, WHAT!? Heather is back at Wings? But no, old post. Heather was a truly bomb customer service rep for Wings. Big shoes for Ankie to fill, but Ankie is doing great!
  10. Gotcher Hathaway 121-way DVD? Cool.
  11. Bingo there, NacMac. Just about everybody here would forego the Parachutist in exchange for lower USPA dues. I'll admit to mostly looking at the photography. There are more, better, bigger pictures in the Mag, on way better paper than Parachutist.
  12. Jeeze, WTF? Why the he11 not? I really can't see the sense of that rule. C. Because a camera flier in a wingsuit can move much faster than a freeflier (I freefly too) with just about any weight range of student/TM. We want everybody to get the same quality of video without excuses. A competent camera flier in a camera suit can do that. Most freefly suits won't allow for a pop-up drogue shot when the tandem pair is light and moving about 100 mph. The quality and composition of the video should not change do to the fall rate of the tandem pair. Without a wingsuit, it does. We've had plenty of "bad-ass" camera fliers swagger up to the concession and spec a video just to find out they can't get the shots we insist we get for our customers. If they could get them, nobody would care what they wore.
  13. Camera flying also makes a person vertically lazy because of the wings. Most of the camera fliers I know at some point needed to get the wings off for a while to re-learn fall rate adjustment with body position rather than wing extension. The advantage to watching (filming) AFF is learning by seeing, not the flying bit.
  14. On the fact that I am a Wings sponsored athlete after purchasing three Wings systems prior to sponsorship. PM me. Infinity rigs are fine systems. And Dom is a great rep who has amazing freefall skills as well as being a full time gear rep. Hey Dom, I'll exit now. No more Wings stuff in your thread. Thanks for the tunnel training that helped me pass my AFF-I rating tests!
  15. Dude, I've been married about 20 years. Don't tell her about shit like this. Handle it. Some communication is overatted. Honest. Defend her. But don't tell her about ALL the battles. Trust in love.
  16. Skydive, the Mag, is a very nice production. Very high quality feel and photography! Seriously. The glossiness and quality of the photography is superb! And thanks, Lesley! for publishing some of my photos of the 121 way sequential in Florida. You are an awesome plane captain. (and, quite frankly, a HOTTIE!) see you in Sweden for the Herc boogie. A very nice magazine! JP
  17. Sweetie, you flashed me your bra in the tunnel, cold sober. And the "Byron Clan", is not completely represented without me there. But I consent to my wierd Hollish buddy as proxy.
  18. I prefer impertinent. And I don't have to be, it would just be a tremendous waste of one of my only God-given talents to not be.
  19. And how are the rest of the kids? Dude, you are wired so tight.
  20. Oh yeah, that. The reporting thing. (He's a lawyer) Besides that, though, really, making threats are just attempts to screw with your head. Turning that around is great fun. If I was a lawyer I'd have something like "Death is nothing to fear, lawsuits are something to fear". Or something cool like that. Have to work on it.
  21. Yes! Several times! Even had a couple guys getting the snaps undone on my duty gun when I had the delirious joy of jamming my second pistol into their eye. It's quite fun once you get the hang of it. Hasn't happened at all to me since getting out of government work though. I especially like laughing at my own lines after it's over. Dude: "Dude, I'm going to kill you" Me: "Only if I don't see you coming" Other responses: "Really? I'm going to missing person you. See, it's not a murder unless they find evidence or a body" "Ah, good. Now I know my wife will have the money for our kid's college education." "Right now is good. I like this suit" Anybody who was serious about killing you wouldn't tell you. They're just trying to get a response. Try and come up with a Bruce Dern smile, pause and say "Cool"
  22. I hear you can skydive in it too. No way he could get in there too.
