Sure. I wouldn't say "as hard" though. I took my time. And my "bite" is a shot at constructive. Rather then just a shot at veter. So here is a shot at me! lol Thanks Sparky... thanks a lot. Anyway, you are right, I am easily amused. I like both shiny AND sparkly things. I meant no harm Sparky. Just that this thread stops when we do... don't count on veter to stop because he's getting just what he wants out of this thing. You know? Nick My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!

Kate, yours has been the best fuel I think so far. This thread will go down in history! I can't beleive how many of you he has going. Granted none of you have been hooked by the comments about landing his wingsuit. Otherwise though, he is a trollin' and you all are a bittin'. Look at Kelp for goodness sake. He wants this to continue so badly that when veter lightens up and starts telling jokes, he begins to provoke him with "You aren't as funny as you think you are." That made me laugh pretty hard. And you, lol. "my first reaction is never to be on the plane with you."... and with this irrational post, you are asking him to leave? Laughable. Everyone in here that has been tricked into responding.... laughable. Veter, I am not a tee are oh elle elle but I congratulate you just the same on a job well done Stir away! Though Kelp says you are boring... I find you very amusing. Nick My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!

The jurry is still out on that one. You don't have to accept that as fact. We (skydivers) seem to split a fence as far as this is concerned. I mean, people die. So: "You can do everything right and still die." thusly holds true in it's own right no matter where you are or what you are doing. But as a rule of thumb for skydiving? I do not subscribe to this fate. Though it is a popular catch phrase, I advocate that if you get hurt or die in this sport, it is because of something you did wrong or failed to do right. I know I am not the only one. My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!

Yes, The tobacco industry pushed the government to have marijuana outlawed because they feared competition. And by the way, NICOTINE is the most addicting drug, even more so than heroin believe it or not. I thought it was the cotton growers that didn't want to compete with hemp. Actually, though I'm sure cotton was shaking in it's boots, the pulp and papper industry stood to lose the most. More or less, there isn't much you can do with a chopped down tree that you can't do with hemp... and hemp grows back much faster. So they began a strong lobbying campaing against hemp. Being that the US could not just outlaw a plant without reason, they created such things as "Weed Rage"... whereby they explained via public service announcements how people could become suddenly and irrationally violent from smoking pot. They painted the picture not that this plant was bad for the health, but bad for the safety of society. Today, we know it all to be lies... and yet? My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!

Although there's no arguing that it "relaxes you, mellows you out", the "slows reaction time" part is quite subjective. Studies were performed on driving abilities in Montreal on a closed circuit. People were asked to complete a number of tests, including slaloming pileons, avoiding obstacles which would pop up randomly and breaking suddenly when a certain light lit up. It was found that test results were exactly the same before and after drivers consumed twice as much pot as they admitted to using regularily. Response time was the same, breaking distance the same, ability to navigate the pileons while maintaining given speeds... the same. I think the "slows response time" is a bit of a myth... born like many others, from a hint of truth. That is, pot is 'mood altering'. Only the 'feelings' are affected. Your physical body does not 'relax' itself anymore than you allow it as a result. You may think what you feel when you smoke contradicts this but it is not a muscle relaxant. You may feel like little problems don't really bother you anymore, which leads you to feel relaxed, which leads you to be less tense physically as well. I'm not sure if I'm making that part clear enough. Basically, you will be less tense, but because of a relaxed mood. Mind over body and not the other way around. Taking your sweet a$$ time to do things, or being "forgetful"... these are the result of certain things becoming less important to you. Not your mind becoming less powerful so to speak. One thing that was noted was that drivers may be a little more 'jumpy' at the reaction to the light or the obstacle. But their observation of such, their processing of the problem and what to do, and their execution of the manuevres... all unchanged. The added "jumpiness" is said to be the result of suddenly coming out of this apparent added relaxation. I'm not advocating jumping high. Just pointing out what I think is an important piece of knowledge, otherwise burried by the powers that be. lol Anyone really know why pot is outlawed to begin with? My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!

Alright! That's what I like to hear. You did well and you had a great time doing it! You see what I meant about not being as overwhelmed? You say: "I really wasn't sure if it was a good arch because the chute opened by the time I could think about it." Well it's more because you *were* experiencing sensory overload... just like in freefall on your tandem. Climbing out and hanging onto the strut is quite the rush in itself. I'd add that being jostled around by the lanyard after your exit is quite distracting too. But this time, the period of severe mental stress was shorter and pinpoint (the exit is the scary part). You had a small job to do during this period and you did it well. Now you will gain a little confidence. After another jump or two, you will come away from the plane *knowing* your body position is correct. It is the awareness that you are after first. Anyway, cudos! And keep us posted My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!

Lack of foresight or not (And I'll take the collective words of the team of motorcycle safety instructors at humber college over yours), it is not the point. Here is RogerRamjet's quote: Again, lack of fosesight or not, the consequences of the above-example, given a little scare and a bike too powerful for ones experience, can be far worse than those on a bike of relatively lesser power. Is that okay by you? Because your posts so far are VERY counter-productive to the entire "buy a reasonable sized bike as a starter" argument and so far, it is only because you feel I'm speaking without enough experience. You see? Are you suggesting that a Busa is a good starter bike? My example used one because I DON'T. Edited to add: The point I was trying to make, -now buried by KelpDivers expanation of what a wheelie is- was: "I just won't go so fast at first" is not a good remedie for buying yourself an extremely powerful sportbike as a starter. This is where nit-picking becomes a bit of a safety issue. We were still talking about someone buying a bike which was far too powerful for their experience level and justifying it by saying they wouldn't go too fast on it. -I can see that as meaning someone that is in a lower gear than should be, thinking this will help. -I can see that as meaning someone that doesn't shift their weight properly, not having developped enough of a feel for it. -I can see that as meaning someone that is cruising around at what they consider a safe speed, not realising that a quick application of the throttle can make their bike seem squirly underneath them... the poor thing is only doing what they told it to do! So take my example off the highway. I guess you're right, at top speeds, it's just not possible to make a nice, award-winning wheelie. But just make it clear that it's the word "Highway" that you are discrediting. Or take away the word "wheelie" if you like and substitue "apparent squirlyness" lol. ... just don't make it sound like a whole heap-load of extra power isn't a problem when you grab a handful of throttle in a pinch and don't have the experience and nerves to do it right! My simple, truthful point: Buying a bike too powerful for you ins't exhonnerated by just "gowing slower" and "going slower" won't save you from what happens if you are young and a little twitchy with your controls when you need to act quickly. My appoligies for using the words "One wheel" for now it has taken 4 posts to make this simple point. My Gawd! My Karma ran over my Dogma!!! -

-Sometimes it's better to power out of a pintch then to simply hit the breaks... untrue? -Unintentional wheelies can result from quick throttle application on a bike which is too powerful for your experience level.... ridiculous? Be careful discrediting information simply because it comes from a relative newbie. We're trying to discourage new riders from buying Busas not tell them the issues related to this are... ridiculous. I wasn't saying unintentionall wheelies are an acceptable, regular occurrence. Someone said they'd let their friend buy a sport bike over 600cc as a first and justified it by saying you don't have to go fast if you don't want to. I was merely stating that while this might be true, there are some situations where you will have to hit the throttle quickly and if you have too much bike under you for your experience level, you may end up on one wheel. You are willing to tell me what I say is wrong simply because it's my first year on the street. What I typed is NOT untrue, it's one of the major reasons why I agree with the article. No, it's the truth. More than once Batman and Superman have gone at it. Batman always gets the upper hand. I love 'em both... but Batman takes the cake in my heart as he is no more than an ordinary man under the cowl. All his detective skill, all his martial arts... everything, he went out and got on his own and he risks his life for justice. No, I don't think golfers can beat him. My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!

Ummm....where is your insurance through? Full coverage is under $200 per year for our CBR600RR. I'm in Ontario, Canada. Insurance is a different animal here because it pays for your personal injury as well as liability to others. ... unless that's the case in colorado too? Rates for auto/motorcycle insurance in Ontario are the highest of all the provinces My Karma ran over my Dogma!!! -

I did say a lot. Care to point out which part was not valid? The article in question doesn't talk about cruiser bikes 600 and up does it? I'm trying to tell Ron that Sport Bikes are an entirely different animal then Touring... or say cruiser... and you chime in and tell me what? That I don't have enough experience to say that? Well I did enough homework to know what I was buying when I bought it. I'm not interested in dying for my ego. This article says 600 and up is just too much bike for a first sportbike. I agree! Mine is not classified as a sportbike though. It is significantly heavier, it has a longer wheelbase, it is lower to the ground, the seat positon is more upright, the pegs are further forward, the motor is significantly de-tuned when compared to a GXS600R for example. Ask any seasoned sport bike owner who has ridden one what they think?: "It's a Pig!" Insurance rates for this bike is $1200 less -minimum- then any sport bike. Including ones of lesser displacement. Do I not have enough experience to know all this?... to understand what it means? I don't know, maybe you think so. Suzuki does not recommend their GXSR series as first bikes. Even though the retard the timming on the 600s and 750s to help avoid unnintentional wheelies, this is a common occurance. They do recommend the Katana though. (GXS-F). Humber College Safety course taught me a lot, the forums I am a member of do also and I'm learning more everyday. But I didn't buy a stilletto to learn on, I bought a fucking Spectre. Also for the record, did you see me stating otherwise? My Karma ran over my Dogma!!! -

Ron I don't think you know the first thing of which you speak. The article presented was about sportbikes and the parallel drawn is between them and canopies. You use outlawphx's post to speak of him as the type that doesn't listen when he is agreeing. His post makes the point that sport bikes today are lighter AND more powerful. His point is valid. You use my post to speak of me as the type that doesn't listen but fail to notice that mine is a 93 sport-touring... very different then todays sport bikes.... the subject of the article. I didn't go on to explain why it was good for ME... rather why it is considered a good starter by the motorcycle community. Also in my post, I say I would not have bought a sport bike of equal displacement nor would I recommend a sport bike of that size as a starter. The displacement of a motorcycle means absolutely NOTHING if you don't know the class of the bike. That is why the article makes reference to todays sport bikes. You do know there is a difference right? The article in question speaks of sport bikes in particular for a reason... it doens't speak out at 600 and up for other classes because the performance of said bikes hasn't changed the way it has in sport bikes during the last decade. You just love to stir the shit don't you? When you read, finish the whole post, reflect, then post. I now return you to your regularly programmed misunderstanding of peoples posts. Good point. However, on a bike, there are a good number of situations you can find yourself in that are better to throttle out of than to break. Being cut off on the highway, for example, and grabing a handful of throttle to avoid being struck... too much bike and you may find yourself trying to avoid traffic on one wheel. Having said that, I bought my first motorcycle this year. It is a Suzuki Katana 600. This is actually spoken of as a good starter-bike. It is classified as sport-touring. It is heavy, low to the ground and has a longer wheel base which makes the above-example a little harder to find yourself in. I agree it is a well written article. Mine is a 600 but I would not recomend any other 600 sport bike as a first. My Karma ran over my Dogma!!! -
Are you freakin kidding me? You really don't even read the news do you? Lol. I mean there are little to no repercussions to the individual soldier for shooting an innocent. (You may be reading my post as there is no repercussion to their being there... which is a topic entirely for another thread.) It has been asked now, three times, what the worst punishment issued to a troop for such a crime and there has been no anwer. My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!

Do me a favor...Don't pretend to think I follow your orders. Easy cowboy. This isn't personal. I don't really care about what you think personally. I made that decision from posts a long time ago. Careful you don't paint yourself into a corner now Ron. This is important. Which statement did I make now? More and more innocent people are dying in Iraq because the American troops are shooting first and not bothering to ask questions later. There is little to no repercussions to their actions. This thread is about that. I merely hinted that you should try and stick to this topic rather then get hung up on someone calling an American soldier coward. No more then this.
