If you want to sleep with him but still date the others, it's clear that the potential is there that you will someday want to sleep with the others. I suppose that's the day "the one you've chosen" (lol) gets to hear either that: a) you've changed your mind about him not being allowed to sleep around or b) you've decided you can't sleep with him anymore as you'll be test drivin' another for a while... but he can still date you while you're doing so! (also lol) What I find unfair is that you're trying to set ground rules for him... while casual dating. Run it by him though, as the ABSOLUTE bottom line is Nothing is unfair that all parties agree to. My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!

Which is the greater killer, skydiving or base jumping
goose491 replied to LilZilla's topic in Safety and Training
So you'll yield the common ancestry. Moreso then common acestry, BASE is Skydiving's ancestry. The first parachutes were taken off objects long before they were tried out of airplanes. My Karma ran over my Dogma!!! -
I voted Other for the Misfits. "We are the Misfits, our songs are better! We are the Misfits... and we're gonna get 'er!" Oh dear God ... what have I done? My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!

Which is the greater killer, skydiving or base jumping
goose491 replied to LilZilla's topic in Safety and Training
BASE is NOT Skydiving. The only thing the two have in common is the use of a parachute. These are two very very distinct and different sports. My Karma ran over my Dogma!!! -
That's spreadin' the "Thinly-veiled" card a little... thin . But I'll stop defending the entire skydiving population from his actual attack on them to keep from being banned. My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!

To be fair, I don't think anyone has said his illness shouldn't be taken into account. Merely that he should not walk away without there being consequences. That and if he's that sick, why was he at the WFFC in the first place? That and if he had to be at the WFFC, with potential for having to steal peoples stuff, then why wasn't his "friend" warning of such behaviour and watching him. Now in the abscence of him staying home as an option, and in the abscence of his friends looking out for him being the case, we are stuck with the actual outcome, he got caught stealing a bunch of stuff. He should be held accountable and that's that. I think that's the point and I don't think that's insensitive. Those "he'd be 6 feet under" types are to be found just about anywhere. They do not make up the whole of skydivers. Taking them on here is pointless, they speak for the sake of speaking. Nothing else. Lumping ALL skydivers together when you take them on is even more pointless, it shows lack of consideration of whom you are addressing. I am not an insensitive guy. But I hope Eric does time, and I hope he gets better. I am willing to bet that paying for a crime commited is part of the process. Sick or not. Nick My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!

Yes. Yes you think we are all unjust? My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!

Don't take this the wrong way Bill, but would you mind explaining what you are warning about? I've got: 1) No personal attacks. 2) No jokes about or references to pedophilia. None. 3) No advertising in the forums. 4) Post to the correct forum and stay on topic. Would it be numba 4? Being that identifying the statment that all skydivers think they live on top of moral mountain and won't speak to your face when they have an issue as narrow-minded, is not the topic of this thread (The WFFC Thief) It's definately not number 1. Because even nice people can make not so nice blanket statments and I'm not sure anyone can see my calling as an attack. Or are you just warning me that: ? Just to clarify so that I don't do it again, what did I do? My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!

Why? All the compassionate reasoning for defending the offender are the same. He was sick, he couldn't control himself, he must feel bad enough for what he did now that he's back on the meds... My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!

And if they read yours? Only people who generalize and take the words of a few human skydivers to be the general conventionality of all human skydivers would assume that. And I leave them to their prejudices. When they post such blatantly narrow-minded blanket statements about the entire collective of skydivers however, they will be told to re-evaluate. You'll find that when somebody posts something here with a blank profile, they will be asked who they are. I originally thought I saw that you had registered TODAY and made 5 posts... which, with a blank profile, would lead us to question your motives. I corrected myself on the registration date. You seem to be missing my point. I don't care how much or how little you post. Skydivers, last time I checked, were humans too. I will state my simple point once more and add "human" to keep it clear for ya. In defending a human thief, you insult an entire human sub-culture whom you do not know. And you think us unjust? My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!

No problem, you seem to be trying to make up for it. I may have chuckled at the foxhole comment but it's quite a stretch to say I was attacking you... a laughable one, shall we say? This small furry of posting has addressed your name and DZ... but not the comment that "skydivers feel they operate on a ethical mountain" or that we "want blood, but would proably never have the nerve to say it to someones face unless they have a hundred people backing us up." So again, in defending a thief, you insult an entire culture and you feel we are injust? My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!

Oops, my bad, you actually registered Nov 7, 2003, 5:53 PM ... and have made 5 posts. My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!

Just switch to decaf and continue drinking the same amount of coffee you normally drink. Eat an apple each and every morning. It's a little known fact that one apple will wake you up just as well or better as one cup of coffee. Of course, eating and apple is not the same ritualistically as drinking the hot cup of java... so drink decaf at the same time. My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!

Sorry that this is a little off topic everyone... but does anyone know just who the hell this guy/gal is? lol I mean so dramatic with the: it's laughable. But mainly, I'm wondering just how much time he/she must have spent jumping at no dropzone entered to understand us so well! Didn't anyone ever tell you it isn't nice to generalize? In defending a paranoid schizophrenic theif (thief - confirmed, paranoid schizophreniac - alleged), you insult an entire sub-culture of people you do not know. Maybe it's wise you haven't filled out your profile since registering today and making 5 posts. I think you should re-evaluate bortha... or sista?... whateva. My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!

Does your life insurance policy include skydiving?
goose491 replied to ltdiver's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
A lady came forward (last year I think), who said her husband -who had just died- admitted to her on his deathbed that he was the jumping hijacker. I suppose there is no way to ever prove this, but it's worth mentioning for those who, like me, beleive he may very well have survived the jump from a Boeing 727. My Karma ran over my Dogma!!! -
If you need to think of distinct inputs for distinct outcome and you are having troubles with the sideslide, try this. This is what got me side sliding when I wasn't sure what I was doing worked (on a solo, it's really hard to confirm your making any lateral movement) On a solo, get a small, upper body turn going. By small I mean a very tiny input which will create a very slow turn. Hold the input. When you are ready, try droping your knee on the same side you are turning to. When you have dropped your knee enough to stop the turn you initially created, that is your heading is no longer changing but your original upper body turn input is still there, you will actually be side-sliding. Stay in this configuration for a few seconds to train some muscle-memory and then go back to stable belly to earth and try the same thing in the opposite direction. The key to this excercise lies in making the original turn input very minute and dropping the knee very gradually as well. I compare dropping the knee to raising the clutch slowly to find where it catches if you've learned to drive a standard car. By doing everything very slowly, you will find that magic configuration and you may not have to think about the other leg at all as it just 'does it's thing' to keep you stable. After a few tries, you can make the turn and faster before each attempt. Eventually, you will be able to drop the one side evenly, knowing just what it should feel like and presto, you be slidin' ... I hope that was clear enough an explanation. Keep tryin' and let us know how you make out My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!

Of course, being at a Canadian dropzone means I am very seldom sitting in between two strangers but that being said, I get my pins check on each and every jump, just before jump run. I used to have only my main checked but lately I have been asking to take a look at both. I seriously doubt the potential of somebody mucking it up. I jump a wings. My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!

Canopy Malfunction: Lineover (*landed*, with photos)
goose491 replied to SudsyFist's topic in Safety and Training
I thought even the controllability check came after "Is it there, is it square?" This jumper did some practice turns and flares and decided he could land it... He was right because he did land it. When it's there but it's bowtie shaped, a controllability check won't tell you whether or not a) the lineover will clear itself at 100 feet causing your compensating inputs to screw you into the ground, or b) there is damage done which will destroy the canopy at 100 ft when it hits turbulence. I was taught if it's a line over and you can't clear it by your harddeck, then you chop it. My Karma ran over my Dogma!!! -
Plus, after solo and before your "A", you'll have to do an "unstable exit" which means you can leave doing backflips or just completely limp... or have an instructor tackle you out the door on "Ready!" Only to show that you can regain stability. My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!

Which is the greater killer, skydiving or base jumping
goose491 replied to LilZilla's topic in Safety and Training
Think about it, For the most part: One parachute, No time, Objects and Terrain, Still-air, remote areas or areas where you have gone in secret... etc More people die each year skydiving but that's because there is a great many more skydivers then there are BASE jumpers. In terms of odds and numbers, BASE is by far more likely to take you. My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!
