  1. Notice how none of the girls come back at this one? LoL. I quote you simply to resurect it before it gets burried. I'm with you Cocheese. Ladies, learn to look before you sit. Know that you can operate the seat if it needs to be lowered. Stop blaming us guys when you refuse to sit down, attempt to hover the whole time, and end up peein' all over the place. lol My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!
  2. wow that is pretty unbelieveable! What are the chances, not only two tandems in a row with reserve rides, but that the passenger be related to an experienced jumper? ...probably a good thing. My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!
  3. Let's not kid ourselves here people. The phrase coined was: "Blue Skies, Black Death." Whereas I agree wholeheartedly with you whom have posted that the risk is the downside and the flying is the upside, they are two sides to the one jump. This sport is about risk versus reward. The butterflies you feel in your stomach before a jump, they ARE there because you mind is reminded that you are about to jump from a perfectly good airplane. The statement that NOBODY would do it if it was completely safe might just be an exaggeration but it's not completely from left field. I understand the reluctance to agree even remotely with it... out of fear of being regarded as a ghoul (someone who is obsessedely interested in the darker aspects of the sport) but we all got in for our own reasons. We all know what we get out of it... and I think we all know it would be a whole different scenario if we understood that there was no risk at all. Nick My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!
  4. Oh I don't disagree. I'm just saying I'd be one whole heck of a lot more apt to taking a DZO's kid on a tandem then some shmo with an attorney. My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!
  5. That being in a pefect world maybe. But this one is full of evil lawyers. Taking a kid on a tandem is making yourself a sitting duck if anything ever went wrong. I mean, DZO's kids are one thing... but some shmuck who already uses the passive threat of an attourney?... No way man, too risky. My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!
  6. Karri! You back on these boards these days? Noice, you can help keep me company at work! My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!
  7. Sup Chicky?!! It's me, Nick. So you lookin' to sell the ol' sole eh? Max is moving out there on the 25th. He's going to be staying with Sarah and Curtis. I'd suggest you marry him but he's and ass... and he's foreign. Hey, btw, where were you this weekend? Your brother and father both did their solos yesterday!
  8. Here in Canada it's 18. But you can do a tandem at 16 with a waiver and a signed consent form from legal guardian. A lot of DZs require the legal guardian to be present the day of the jump as well. My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!
  9. This is what's KEY here. If our numbers go up, if our numbers go down, so be it. But each jumper should have walked in on their own. We don't need recruitment drives here. My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!
  10. Is this stuff only avail in the states? My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!
  11. I voted other. I think she should post up her collar bone with a bit of neck. Nick My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!
  12. Well Happy Birthday you old fart! (weird new avatar btw... I like it) Nick My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!

    Question

You are thinking or rain forest tribes perhaps? There are African tribes as well that beleive this. My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!
  14. Precisely. I even shudder sometimes thinking that the student progression programs we have in place now are too quick and easy. That is, that they get people in the air solo before any of them can truly understand what they are getting themselves into. I like to see people progress and get into the sport... but it seems the number of first jumpers taking and passing quickly through AFF or PFF is on the rise, not fall. I agree with Billvon, we will see increased regulation of the sport by outside sources when more of the general public gets in and gets hurt. This sport is not for everyone... at the same time, a tandem skydive advertises like a rollercoaster ride. You know? My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!
  15. Might find some good sources here... but I really don't recommend jumping this way. I second what spizzarko says. Use a can of flour or something. Looks good with no risk of burning or melting something important. Nick My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!
  16. What did the angrybike $et you back? My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!
  17. Oh I see! Thanks for the info. Again, very cool bikes. I must admit the first time I saw a Buell, I thought it was ugly. But they have definately grown on me. My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!
  18. That's sorta what I mean. Someone posted earlier that skydiving can be a bit of a let down for the traditional addrenaline junkies. What you say here is that you've met a lot of adrenaline junkies in skydiving... but they may not have many jumps. You see, I've done some reading on the hormones involved. Skydiving as a concept lends itself to an adrenaline rush. Anybody telling the tales of their first jumps will describe all the symptoms of an abundance of the stuff. But once you're in for a while and have become comfortable with the new environment, your brain no longer feels the need to enter "fight or flight" mode... the calling for a release of adrenaline. However, the speed is still there, the altitude is still there. In the back of your head, all the calculations are still being made and the results are still indicative of a dangerous situation. The visuals you get and the sense of acomplishment never dull. And that's why when the skydive is over, you will still get a shot of dompamine. Dopamine is the Reward you get AFTER "fight or flight". It is what you are feeling after sex too. It's the sense of satisfaction, it's the "perma-grin". Not sure if I've done a good job explaining but I've always found this to be very interesting. 19. How about "Total Eclipse of the Heart" but sung by that wedding band in the movie Old School. Oh man that makes me laugh every time I see it. "..and I neeeed you nowww tonigh! I fuckin' neeeed you more then eva!" My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!
  20. But I thought Buell was Harley? Don't they come off as the "sport bikes made by Harley Davidson" ? Anyway, I'm a real fan of the different look they've got going on. The short stance and small angle of the forks, combined with the semi-naked/streefighter look? I think it's hot! Nice Bikes. My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!
  21. Shhhhhhhhh! Yes they Do! Worth noting is that in our sport, we can often get more altitude if a skychickie is so inclined as to show her goods to the pilot(s). It's tradition! ... have I mentioned I love this sport? My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!
  22. There's the Chemical Difference. Rock Climbers may be addrenaline junkies whereas Skydivers, who are considered such by the masses, are really more partial to the Dopamine. My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!
  23. Here's my vote to have the climbers come post their BOOBIES here, where they are not discriminated against and will be welcomed with open hands.
  24. Thanks for sharing this. I'm glad you made it out unharmed. The following quote made me uneasy though: Whoa Nelly! That's a virtual {{SLAP!}} on the wrist for ya. If that RSL doesn't work soon, you'll have to find the reserve handle? Truly, it should already have been pulled, the cable flying free of the housing, as you were thinking this. And the words: "Oh well" should almost never be used in skydiving IMHO. Your EP includes pulling both handles wether you practice two-handed or one or whether you are RSL equipped or not. You really should complete them. You really should try to beat your RSL... Food for thought for 'next' time.
  25. But Brazillians and Puerto Riccans aren't minorities in Brazil and Puerto Ricco. My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!
