  1. I have Bonehead dbox for my PC-120. Its pretty quick to take out the cam. About. 15seconds. If you dont wanna pay the $$, just get an L bracket with a condom. Its pretty easy and cheaper.
  2. Yes. I understand the idea of posessing DV-tapes. I never record new stuff over my old recordings and its funny that Sony sort of recommends this since this is generally not a good idea ... And also whats the news here.. Ofcourse you can reuse your old DV tapes, why wouldnt you be able to ?
  3. Im sorry... I dont think I understand this part. Could someone please explain ?
  4. Your issue may have been answered above. Im no expert, but here is anyway what I did : I had most of my footage filmed in PAL. Some of it was Firewired from NTSC camcorder to a PAL camcorder. When I was editing, I had a standalone DV player witch has a switch behind it to switch it PAL of NTSC. So we simply switched it NTSC and then imported the footage. According to my memory the software did the rest. The picture was just in another scale so we solved that by scaling the picture a little wider and zoomed it also a little. (made a compromise not to strech it too much) We were using premiere pro 2.0 The picture looks a little different because the framerate is different, so it may look like it is a little bit slo-mo this way even if its not... but its all cool.
  5. No.. I dont think so.. The text is not nearly identical to the info about optima. They say : "VISO is packed with features and is the perfect visual AND audible solution for skydivers. VISO will sound warning alarms while setting up in your optimum swoop corridor even when it’s mounted on the hand, ring cover, chest mount or leg mount." This info is not correct either if you replace VISO with the word OPTIMA... Im confused.. You can find similar info also here Could it be L&B was planning to include the features described above, but then later before entering the market decided to make it more simple by outcluding the audible ? (maby not to eat markets from optima this way..)
  6. hmm.. Gravitygear website says : "VISO is packed with features and is the perfect visual AND audible solution for skydivers. VISO will sound warning alarms while setting up in your optimum swoop corridor even when it’s mounted on the hand, ring cover, chest mount or leg mount." Are they giving wrong info ? EDIT: fixed the link..
  7. Ok... thanks for the tips. I decided to get the VISO. It seems to have both mainfunctions. -Visual digital altimiter -Audible alti wich can be heard (under canopy) also when wrist mounted. I think this is going to be my compromise for now.. What I dont get this way is : -Visual audible (LED) -Second audible for Freefall
  8. Im considering either one and cant really make up my mind. I was thinking optima or a digital (visual) altimiter of somekind. The purpose is to have more efficent instrument to follow altitude under canopy and to improve my setup to be more accurate. Optima seems a good choice with the LED. I would also get another audible that way wich is good. but on the other hand I kinda like the idea to be able to visually see the altitude from digital alti... Anyone have bad experiences with the optima ? What kind of setup do you use ?
  9. DZ in helsinki is not really open in the winter. But some of organize loads from AN-2 and cessna in the weekends now and then.
  10. Theres one AN-2 here in Helsinki. Also there is a very nice DC-3 we get to jump now and then. Actually the AN-2 is operating also in the winter.. Neither is owned by the DZ. (DZ owns an Otter) DC-3 AN-2
  11. I second that.. ( goes a little offtopic) In Finland, the cost of health care is much much lower, allthough the general price level may be a bit higher.. In the states the amount used in health care is 14% of the GNP (finland 7%) and even then it is distributed extremely unevenly. 44 million people are lacking healthcare insurance program in the US. The biggest reason for these differences is that here health care is based on national healthcare insurance. Back to the topic: So heres mine. I broke my left femur. Jump 220 I was doing a 90 and flared a little late.. Was my 3rd jump of the season.. not very current. Im sure I had the syndroma of invunerability. These things will teach you.. It is a very good idea to have this thread as a reminder. Allthough the general attitude towards injuries in this sport is very different from let say snowboarding or downhill biking. There injuries are delt with as a part of the sport and the attitude towards a person who is injured is different. In swooping injuries are delt somewoth differently.. (edited to add the photo)
  12. Would it be possible to illustrate the loss of quality by posting comparing frame grabs with / without type X wideangle.. I would be interested to see this loss of quality everyone is talking about. Anyone with a HD camera care to do this ? Thanks in advance...
  13. Very nice !! I belive I was on the same load with you guys in DeLand last xmas... Do you have some sort of dive loops in the rears also or did I see wrong ?
  14. How much does this cost ? (receiver + transmitter) I tried to look for the price, but didnt find it..

    cypres price

Not many people have bought their Cypres DOM 1999 on "todays dollars purchased it today new"
  16. I also have some negative memories from Space-center... Me and my buddies (5 of us) went to titusville to do some skydiving and found out it was pretty much dead quiet over there... Weather was good and all, but everyone had apparently gone home to spend xmas... There was maby 1-2 locals there and us plus 4 norvegean tandem passangers waiting to get to jump. The manifest had told the passangers that the "winds are too high and we have to wait" and they had charged the tandems form them.. Well we ofcourse saw that the reality was that there was not enough people (maby not even TM´s ) around and so we called Deland and asked if they were active and they said yeah.. we are loading back to back here. So we told the norvegean guys how it was and asked if they wanted to come to deland with us and make the tandems there ... They said : "sure but the manifest told us all the other DZ´s have a hold up also because of the winds" We said this is not true and told them to go and get their money back from the manifest. It turned out that the manifest didnt want to give any money back and that they should come back tomorrow ... Eventually the manifest did return the money and we took the guys to deland and they all got to jump immedietly as we did too... (jumping for free from the referrals from those 4 passangers we brought there ) I vote for Zhills or deland if you are in the area... EDIT: I guess stealing tandem passangers from a DZ is not really smart, but neither is lieing to the tandem passangers...

    cypres price

I think you missunderstood me ... I was only trying to point out how stupid the calculator is. Example : If you were stupid enough to pay 1500$ for your new cypres, the calculator says your unit is worth more than your friends unit wich only cost him 1000$ when he bought it from another dealer.. (both are as new and identical in everyway) My example sure is exaggerated but you get the point I presume...

    cypres price

So are you saying the value of your cypres is higher if you got ripped off by your dealer ?

    cypres price

Im confused... What do I fill in in the "cypres cost" -part ? Isn´t this exactly what this calculator is supposed to do for me ?
  20. learning from previous incidents is cool ! Being afterwise smartass is not ! Thats the difference..
  21. Yeah.. I have never jumped either one (though I just bought XF2) But according to this thread the xfire1 had three different linetrims. So obviously it would change the characteristics...
  22. Some people feel chest rings affect negatively on harness inputs to the canopy.. Also, I always get some sort of shivers when I see someone headdown and the MLW has slipped off another shoulder..
