My advice would be the opposite, I think its much more demanding filming without a wide angle.. I have shot with some zoom on a 0.45 a few times when filming bigways from under them. Couldnt really go too close and under. Worked well as long as the zoom was moderate. If zooming more, shakiness becomes a factor..

Anyone have the 430 ?
-
Canon site says: 430: "Recycling Time Approx. 0.1 to 3.7 seconds (AA-size Alkaline Batteries)/0.1 to 2 seconds (AA-size Ni-MH batteries)" 580: "Approx. 0.1 to 6 seconds, with fresh AA-size alkaline batteries" So does this mean if I use fresh batteries it wont be that much slower or maby not slower at all ??

Anyone using Speedlite 430EX ? How does it perform in freefall ? I see a lot of people use the 500- series speedlites, but noone uses the 400 ? I really wouldnt want to spend the extra $ for the 580 series if the 430 is even reasonably good. Also im intrested to hear if anyone has experience over the Sigma EF-530 DG Super... it seems to be in the same price category as the 430EX.

I don't really watch their tandem videos, but if you look at Vincent V.L.'s or Bruno B.'s videos, they don't film from directly under the tandem (except maybe the occasionnal pass, I don't watch tandem videos unless I film them or am asked to give my judgement on them ) Go and search "empuria" and "tandem" on youtube and take a look at some of the tandem videos there.. With quick overlook on those videos I couldnt find a single one where the camera guy wouldnt be under the tandem.. Im not saying that them doing so justifys filming from under the tandems at all. Im just saying its very very common..
-
Ok.. Im not gonna argue with you here. Though I think its kinda two faced since a lot of people say it shouldnt be done and then they do it them selves.. For instance, I know you have been in empuria several times. So you maby know a lot of people and their qualifications there. One of the biggest tandem factorys in the world.. How many camera flyers can you find who wouldnt fly constantly under the tandem ?
-
are you allowed to fly under a regular jumper ?
-
Im just curious.. What exactly makes it extremely unsafe ? I can see that it may bring a little more risks to the equation, but why extremely unsafe ?

Im looking for advice on mounting a 400D (xti) on top of a bonehead optik. What kind of quick release should I go for ?

Not all canons have 1.6x crop censor.. He's not considering a 5D is he. No but you said "esp on a Canon" Maby Im a smartass, but it just somehow gave me the impression like 20mm wouldn´t be wide enough on canons in general.. Im sorry..

So an accusation and the opinion of some non-judicial bureaucrats is enough to effectively cripple a business before the accusation is ever proven in court? That's a terrible system. I'm glad I don't live in Finland. Well.. pretty much yeah. Thats how it works. Although im sure the authority has exellent judicial knowlede of the field they work in. Sure the authoritys actions can be taken to court if needed. And at the end it is the courts decicion finally decide these things and sure the authority will be liable for any misconduct from their behalf. Im sure there are similar powers with a lot of authorities in the states.. For instance the gaming commission in nevada regulates the casino industry... I would be suprised if they were powerless towards a casino thats braking the law and the casino could go on doing their business as long as the court decides different. Not every illegal action has to be taken to court before it can be an end.. And most importantly it doesnt have to be a civil litigation always. -

Sounds like the system needs to be improved if you are able to act as you please as long as you are not convicted from it yet.. In Finland in similar situation the consumer authorities have the legal right to ban marketing from this firm until the case has been solved in the court. -

Ford Pinto Take a while for enough people to get 'burned' before anything is done. Had a short google moment and I guess I now know prehaps you were referring to the safety problems with the aforementioned car model and the law suits that followed.. So your point being ? You mean that the authorities are inefficient to fix the problem ? Or do you mean that theres not enough evidence of any misconduct ? Why wouldnt there be ? -

Still havent had time to go through the older thread about skyride (so forgive me if this was already covered in the old thread), but isnt there anykind of public authority in the states whos duty is to protect the consumer ? Just inform the proper authority about their business and they will take it from there.. ? -
Now thats what I call a positive attitude..

All I asked was to brief me a little about the matter becouse I dont want to go through all the info availeable and figure it out myself. EDIT: now that I actually looked at the link you provided it seems it might be the place for me to check this out.. I take my words back.. Thanks ! -

Someone care to explain to me in a nutshell, whats wrong with this skyride ? I glanced at the first page of the skyride thread, but the posts were not consistent enough to brief me through the initial problems.. Im not too intrested to go through all the pages and figure these things out between the lines.. Thanks a lot.. -
Stunts; pissing on our sport to make money.

Hey NickD ! Im very sorry it didnt work out for you.. Im sure it pisses you off that this Travis Pastrana guy whos got only a fraction of the jumps you have comes and pulls off a stunt like this and gets wide media coverage plus prehaps makes a few bucks out of it.. I really dont know what should I say to make you feel better.. But even if you really dont think this stunt was worth the attention its getting.. Why are you so obsessed about this shit that you have to go and write DZ.com that "this travis is such a lame ass looser gloryhound.." ? -
Thats where you are wrong.. If theres anything wrong with the product, customer has the right to get the problem fixed. It is not up to the customer to actively seek information about produts and calculate risks to minimize potential problems. It is the sellers duty to fix the problem if the product does not meet the expectations. Mike, Where did you buy your Vigil ? Did you buy it used or from a retailer ? If you bought it from a retailer I would 1st try to solve this thing thru the retailer..

I dont know much about this matter, but what I have heard is that depending on the price of the DVD-R they have refelctivity in the range of 20% - 60% compared to pressed DVD´s Also the laser will wear out sooner or later in your DVD player and will result to a weaker laser power.. In order to play DVD-R´s you just need more laser power.. You could maby try another DVD player..

TSA & traveling with rigs as carry on
BMFin replied to rjackson's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I think this is a bad idea since : -Airlines dont handle the screening at all. They dont have a clue when it comes to more detailed info about what is allowed and what is not. -If they redirect you to an instant that should know about this mattere and they dont, they are much more likely to just say NO even if they should just say I dont know. -Only TSA has rules about the matter. In the states this thing is crystal clear. Outside TSA jurisdiction there are no rules (not that I know of) concerning the matter. (wich means they are allowed as carry on) But whenever any screener comes up with a situation that they are not sure of they will most likely say that its forbidden.. -

BTW. The stunt was done in Puerto Rico. Have you checked the local aviation regulations ?
