Will youtube put people off Tandem jumps.
BMFin replied to speedy's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I hate to start judging other peoples landings over the internet, but d would be really curious to hear why did those two tandems both land downwind ? ( in the rachel ray video) -
If you want wide, Canon 10-22 is IMO the best choice for a cropped censor. Other good choices : Sigma 10-20mm Tokina 10-17mm Fisheye Tokina 11-16mm Sigma 10mm Fisheye Tamron 11-18mm For inside freefly Sigma 8mm or even 4,5mm would be nice, though the use for these is maby quite limited. Do a search, there are some example photos here if you are intrested..

You dont think 2500 dollars is enough ? Not trying to argue here. Im just trying to point out that when ever someone asks about the VN from PD they never give a straight answer. Was this their answer..? To me it doesnt mean anything one way or another..
-
Did you get a straight answer? What was it ? Do they still make you a VN if you want one ?

I have understood that PD will make a vengeance if someone orders one.. I made

79$ doesnt sound as ruthless as these prices. How about paying 899€ for a one meter digital XLR cable ? Though the best money comes from analog cables: Over 5000€ for a pair of 2 meter speaker cables..

First of all as was mentioned before theres no bridle in the PC. Actually you can see a line going to his fingers and eventually he lets go of the line, Fake PC goes off.. Socondly why would he be "shoving" the PC to the camera. He clearly wants the viewer to see / think that now hes trying to deploy. After this the next thing he does is he takes an extra reserve handle and starts waveing it in front of the camera so that thinks hes now in real trouble. After this he continues flailing for a few seconds and after this they cut it to where someone is spiraling under canopy and this has been edited a little faster. On top of this they edit a pair of legs dangling on real speed. (wich is propably filmed over greenscreen or similar and added over the canopy footage) This will create an effect that looks like its happening on real speed. Thats it in a nut shell... IMO Some of the technical details how they actually did it might differ from what I thought is how they did it, but its clear that its a fake...

I think hes trying to say that its pretty ridiculous that you guys still keep discussing about this video as if it was a real incident.

Jumping flash / more equipment - helmet choices
BMFin replied to RossDagley's topic in Photography and Video
If its not too much of a problem, that would be great ! -
Jumping flash / more equipment - helmet choices
BMFin replied to RossDagley's topic in Photography and Video
Ok. Thanks for the info. I have also been thinking about mounting the flash to the opposite side of the video camera. (laying flat). Maby this way the helmet would be more balanced. I dont know yet.. Somekind of velcro stap system is ofcourse an option, but the best way would be if I could make a mount system that is barely visible (or comes off) when Im not using the flash. So far Im only planning on using the flash when theres less light.. Most of the times I would jump without. -

I would be intrested to hear some advice also. Im going to mount my flash to a bonehead optik. (with a pc-120 on the side and 400 D on top) If I remember correct theres a few guys here who have had a flash mounted on this type of a setup. Any advice concerning the technical details of the mount would be appreciated. -
Theres a short thread about the mono and stereo bite switch here

If he shouldn´t compare FX to a Velo, what should he be comparing it to then ?? Only other Icarus canopies ??

From the looks of the video it looks like Deland ? Maby some of the deland locals know more.. The headline of the video is Quadriplegia wich means paralysis affecting all four limbs.. Not a nice video to watch...

Jeb Corliss to Demonstrate Live on Today Show Tomorrow
BMFin replied to PLFXpert's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Nope. Check post #90 Yes. It was stated that there has been live video feed from freefall before, but it doesnt tell if they were communicating with people on the ground at the same time.. While I'm not sure if it was the first time, there was air to ground audio and video on an Airspeed 8 way at Perris for the 2004 or 2005 Nationals. And this was live on national TV ? -

Do you mean the EF-S 17-55mm f/2.8 IS USM which is at around thousand dollars ? That would be about 10 times more expensive.. No, I mean the EF-S 18-55mm IS. Ok.. My mistake.. I didnt even know about this one. Well, now I do..

Jeb Corliss to Demonstrate Live on Today Show Tomorrow

The "aerial cameraman" is my hero !! Looked like he jumped without goggles.. But really... Very intresting live broadcast. Prehaps first ever live aerial camera in freefall ? Am I mistaken ? -
Appart from calibrating the monitor, another option is to shoot raw so you may set the WB in post processing.. This way you also have more possibilities to adjust the exposure value also in post prosessing.

Ok murps ! I´ll do my best to visit davis. During that time I will try to find this AdamT and apologise if I ever hurt his feelings. I hope he will feel better soon and start posting here again.. In the mean while, lets try keep the swoop lanes clear of any obstacles ! Safe swoops, Ville
-
YES exactly I agree !!! As I already said many times before in this case ABORT your swoop. It is exactly this same discussion. What I have been trying to say over and over is that swoop lane is a place for swoopers. No extra people there. This way the swoopers are safe and this way the spectators are safe..
-
Dear AdamT, I feel quite the same way about your attitude towards this subject. Not making clear boundaries between swooping areas and non swooping areas has resulted many in air and on the ground collisions in the past. Not making clear to people that they are to keep away from the landing zone unless they have business there will do even more so. (not to even mention about keeping the swoop lane clear of outsiders) It is exactly because of negleting these safety precautions has resulted many DZ´s in the US to ban swooping as a whole. You seem to think it is totally ok for people to wonder around a swooping area and it is the swoopers duty to dodge who ever feels like walking on the swoop lane. I do not think like this at all !! I think No extra people should be allowed on any landing area unless they have a good reason for it. And definetly not on the swoop lane. If you willingly take part in a competiton where people are filming you in the water, and you have the risk of hitting them, then you are willingly taking the risk and most likely (i hope) also the cameraman knows what he is getting into. Then it is between you and the other partys involved. You are free to act as you wish. As I have already said before, I also think it is best to abort your swoop if you dont feel you can do it safely. The real question is: what can I do to stop this person making people to abort their swoops for no reason in the future...
