  1. There are already provisions in the code in my state (and I believe most other states) for a surrogate payee in cases where a parent is not capable. I see that as entirely separate from the drug testing. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  2. Again, there was not ample evidence supplied by the state of Florida that diversion to drug use was any problem at all. That is why they lost. You are trying to argue using facts that are not in evidence. That may work on a message board but it doesn't fly in a courtroom. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  3. I read a fair bit of that opinion. A big reason the plaintiff won the injunction was that Florida failed to establish any sort of factual basis for the sort of argument you are using here. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  4. I don't think all nudity (or all violence or swearing) in movies is gratuitous. Sometimes it is but not always. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  5. Well, so we were discussing this issue at lunch yesterday [for those who don't know, I work at a Community Mental Health Center]. Nobody spoke up who was in favor of this sort of information being routinely disclosed. The two biggest problems discussion were 1) It provided a disincentive for treatment. 2) The docs were concerned they were going to be asked to determine somebody's potential for violence. Just added information. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  6. Not to pick nits, but I"ve always heard it described and considered it to be "cleared for self-supervision in free-fall." That seems pretty clear and consistent w/ the way the drop zones I've been at have handled it too. Student doesn't have to have somebody in freefall but the instructor or coach does still have some supervisory responsibilities for training, gear checks, help w/ spotting, etc. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  7. Piis, what you want to look at is a Roomba. Anyway, it is not the upgrade that is expensive, it's the disposal fees for the 1.0 that will get you. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  8. hmmm, needed government funding to produce the test experiement. Needs mroe government funding for full scale test. Wonder if we should suppoert this with tax dollars? After all if it is worthwhile it ought to be able to be done without government subsidies. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  9. The latest report I saw said that what they originally thought was testosterone ended up being legal supplements. Not sure if that was teh latest statement. Speculation was that a "roid rage" defense could lower his accountability/sentence. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  10. I believe that whole "middle of the road" thing was always way overstated w/ McCain. He did not always fall in line with the party but that is not the same thing as being middle of the road. Honorable and politician is a misnomer. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  11. There are way too many variables to answer with a simple yes or no. Some situations, are, IMHO, clearly foolish. Financing with loans (completely) a private school education for a teaching degree is not going to be a very wise decision. Too much debt for a career with too little upside and a degree that does not make any pay differential from a degree from a much cheaper school. Averages still suggest somebody with a four year degree is much ahead of somebody without one. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  12. USPA SIM. Section 6.8 http://www.uspa.org/SIM/Read/Section6/tabid/169/Default.aspx#983 Actual recommendation is a C license. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  13. Which Ceasar? (sorry, I've been studying different periods and regions of history!) Nero, the one who fiddled while Rome burned (and also carried out one of the first persecutions of Christians). "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  14. I don't know. I asked on of our TIs and he said that it happens when they lay the rig down on the packing mat. I'd say it happens somewhere between 10% and 25% of the time when I pack them. Can be hard to get them undone. TI told me he not only checks it prior to boarding but also checks the rings under canopy. Don't know it that is a standard check for TIs or not. 15. Indeed. I work as a social worker. I have had at least two men that have been targets of abuse from their significant other. The local domestic violence center basically said they did not have any help available to my clients. The only service they had available that men could avail themselves of was the "abusers" class. 16. Yes, this is not rocket science. The number 616 is the numerical code for Nero. The 666 is the numerical code for Neron, which is the direct object form of the name in Greek (which is then transliterated and added up in Hebrew). "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  17. Just please never enable it for Billy's "sick and Twisted" Thead. I once clicked on that one by mistake. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  18. It was unclear about the knots but I took it to mean the suspension lines had previously broken and were tied back together. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  19. Yes, it is commonly used. However it is not used by clinicians and is not a clinical term. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  20. Indeed, Lord Baden Powell started Boy Scouts in the UK and it was exported to the USA. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  21. Interesting trivia (to me anyway): The last pope who resigned did so because there were two rival claimants to the papacy, sometimes labeled the Avignon Papacy and the Roman Papacy. In 1378 the council had elected two rival claimants to the papacy and these rival claims went on through several successions (2 in Avignon, 4 in Rome). A council at Constance secured the resignation of both of the rival claimants in 1414-15 and a new council was called to elect a new pope. There was even briefly a third pope elected, the Pisan Pope, in an earlier aborted attempt to end the schism. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  22. Thanks for this comprehensive answer. I understand better now. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  23. Unless, of course, you happen to own a dictionary. http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/insane?s=t The term has been in use for hundreds of years and derives from Latin. What the hell are you guys talking about? There absolutely is a commonly understood definition. Insane is no longer a term that is used clinically. It is pretty much purely a legal term now and as such does have strictly defined criteria. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  24. I like your website. Good and informative. However, I'm not sure this one is such a strong selling point: The harness is made from MIL Spec “Black Trace” Type 13 webbing. Jumpshack is the only manufacturer to use this stronger webbing designed to fit parachute hardware without slipping. Cheaper “Yellow Trace” Type 7 webbing was originally designed for, and is not as strong. It appears two different claims may be made here. 1st that the type 7 may not be as strong. That may be true but it is apparently strong enough. The proper fitting of the hardware is a little more debatable as you do here of hardward slipping occasionally on other rigs but it appears cleaning the hardware or webbing stops this. 25. I'm all about free association. I don't think the boy scouts should be forced by the courts to change their membership policies. However, I'm a Eagle Scout. I'm part of "them" who thinks their policy is wrong. The private organization doesn't have to change. However private organizations are not immune to market pressure and not immune to changing social sensibilities. If the leadership of BSA continue to ignore people inside and outside their organizations they will find themselves increasingly irrelevant and marginalized. I think that would be a shame because Boy Scouts were an important part of my maturation process and I believe the Boy Scouts still have a lot to offer. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
