I will highly endorse and recommend MEL's work in doing an H-Mod. Wouldn't even bother wasting the step of installing a dome-slider, as you'll still end up trashing that, and THEN going to the H-Mod, which you will LOVE. I've got a Heatwave that now opens nearly identically to my Crossfire, - SMOOTH, SOFT AND ON HEADING every time! ...that MEL pulled from the ashes for me (almost literally - Was getting ready to burn it!) with his work done on it, with this mod in particular. Skip the dome slider (been there, done that, too) - go with the H-Mod. You won't regret it. Just FWIW. Blue Skies, -Grant coitus non circum - Moab Stone

SAVE SKYDIVE THE POINT!!!!
Scrumpot replied to blacklabjumper's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
You should do that every now & then too... just to spite them! - Bring in your own fuel truck with you when you do, and definitely DO NOT BUY / use any of "theirs"! Just another resultant, random thought. coitus non circum - Moab Stone -
I love my infinity! However, I prefer going just a little more "low-key" / understated. Here's mine... coitus non circum - Moab Stone

I've just now found my winter home heating solution, to avoid the escalating (gas in one home, oil in the other) home heating energy costs. ...Walls of Fridges stocked with beer, and simply turn that gas valve (oil supply) all the way OFF. - BRILLIANT! Thanks John, for the valuable tip!! coitus non circum - Moab Stone

After seeing the 2nd picture - can I change my vote? I've used SLinks instead of Rapide's as my main d-bag/canopy/bridal attachment, since they've come out. I'll echo the observation on wear & security as my reasoning. As also mentioned by one other as well - these are not just install 'em and forget 'em in perpetuem though. Before the start of every new season, I also just make it a practice to replace all (5 total per rig) SLinks with new each season. FWIW. coitus non circum - Moab Stone

Absolutely EVERYTHING in that video, is absolutely 100% REAL. ...And, natural too! Really. coitus non circum - Moab Stone

Okay - seeing as we are reposting some of the "oldies but goodies"... I simply could not let this thread just slide then, without adding in THIS one. coitus non circum - Moab Stone

Here's a link to a video on YouTube as well, which shows fairly clearly I think - the full function of this helmet. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q32FFSo3biA coitus non circum - Moab Stone

Whenever I am throwing out sarcasm, specifically and deliberately - I usually start my sentence with something that can be taken as (relatively) condescending like: "Gee"... or "Duh"... Then I end the sentence with one of these: Still doesn't stop occasionally, some otherwise usually very astute, comprehension-capable and literate/literacy-accomplished individuals anyway, from missing it entirely. He'll know who I am referring to. It happens. Get over it, and move on. coitus non circum - Moab Stone

Hot air balloons stolen (austria)
Scrumpot replied to 84n4n4's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Meaning what? - Should we continue to be on the lookout for these? Call authorities if spotted anywhere? Or - are you saying maybe they were/are not actually stolen at all? Please explain. coitus non circum - Moab Stone -
Nipple-boy, is that you? Welcome to Dizzy-dot-com!!

Huh? ...Are you sure of this? What rig Mfr/system either affixes the RSL routing, and/or "attaches" it as such, via Velcro either on, or to the main risers? coitus non circum - Moab Stone

Wow. This post just brought a tear to my eye. Literally. Post of the decade to an over-exuberant newbie award props nomination from me, for sure! coitus non circum - Moab Stone

I've never been in the military, so in that regard, I just don't know. It is a term that was shared and taught to me long ago, when being taught spotting technique and how/what also further to consider in spotting - not only just for oneself, but for the entire load. - FWIW. Did not mean to hijack the OP's original thread or subject matter at hand (visor fogging questions) or anything though, over it. - It just seemed to indicate to me, the apparent thoroughness, and "well roundedness"/detail taking place of the OP's apparent available to him, in-person, face-to-face training. And as such, I simply wanted to communicate to him to be careful is all, about "advice" he may receive instead... out on the interwebs is all. coitus non circum - Moab Stone

Good post. Thank you for the added perspective! coitus non circum - Moab Stone

A load can actually have several sticks. Sticks can also be considered synonymous with "groups". For instance, an Otter Load of 20 can have 3 separate sticks of 4-way, 2 3-ways and a tandem (pair). Knowing this in your "spotting planning" (another thing not widely considered it seems any more), and making considerations for it - can be a beneficial tool to have in your (skill set) belt. I was complimenting an apparent low-timer (and his instructors/instruction/absorbsion of his instruction) on having an actual wherewithal, if not even just knowledge of this. Good on SOMEBODY for actually TEACHING! coitus non circum - Moab Stone

By-the-way, a little off (main) topic... and not adding substance necessarily to the OP subject matter but... Did anyone else happen to notice this OP's recognition of the term "sticks" in his original post? ...I'm gonna give props to whoever/wherever you are getting your instruction at. Someone/somewhere is definitely teaching you right! Careful what you "pick up" now from in here (and from whom). Your F-to-F instructors are (clearly) your best resource. Now, back to your originally scheduled programming. Sorry for the interruption. Carry on.... coitus non circum - Moab Stone

You mean the one where you state that (it is presumably your opinion that) the only appropriate gear for student gear in the 1st place, is (or should be) 280sq ft canopies? Yeah, I read that post too. When you come up with a valid post (point of view) worthy of directly responding to - I'll be happy to. - Back atcha. coitus non circum - Moab Stone

And I believe the only thing it gives (many of) them is "tandem knees" for an ingrained body-position during their 1st actual "solo" freefall. Just sayin'... Thank goodness for (available) variety. One size, IMO just simply does not fit all. coitus non circum - Moab Stone

I work as an AFFI at SEVERAL DZ's. Each of them (sure - I suppose not necessarily in my case representing every dropzone globally either - feel free to retort - but you are also representing all? ) have SEVERAL various size canopies available for student use, ranging from 190 in 3 out of 5 cases (DZ's) - - 210 at the 2 others... to 280 (4 of the 5) - - and 300sq ft at the 1 other. Just FWIW. coitus non circum - Moab Stone

I think another part of the "problem" with this thread - or perhaps better stated: part of the reason it went on a tangent (at least with/to me personally), is that it was also presented in such a fashion, that it could have been interpreted that you were actually fooled, at least initially, with that 1st strip being (quickly? just before exit? - and "coming from the pilot") handed to you. That is how I took it (literally, I suppose) - right or wrong, ...but just FWIW. I have actually seen this (happen) before. A student taking something presented to him literally, in a "high stress" situation - from his "figure of authority" (his instructor) and not really thinking about it or fully considering it, until only later/after. Thus (at least from me) - my (much earlier in this thread) questioning. It was also reported that you stated you had formed a habit of holding your breath for entire previous FF/FS jumps. Is that/was that so? Have you gotten to the root of that, and overcome this habit as well? I think it is admirable, your dedicated focus on your goals - and I congratulate you, for "getting it done"! coitus non circum - Moab Stone

I don't think that is accurate - or your presumption of which incident rather, MEL was referring to is (in)correct. MEL can certainly speak for himself and feel free to correct me if instead here now, it is me that is mistaken - but my reading of his post was that he was referring to the Garretsville, OH 9/19/2009 Tandem pair incident, where it was found, in part - that the Tandem-System RSL had been mis-routed (under, instead of over a closing flap) upon reserve-flaps re-closing, when the rigger opened the reserve container to replace CyPReS batteries (only), and re-assembled/re-closed "as-is", without (apparently) doing a full A-I-R. That is the Garretsville Tandem double-fatality incident he is referring to. I'm just sayin'... FWIW. The whole tangent of I&R's on sport rigs possibly being done with the main remaining in the container, probably could have even been avoided altogether, if this false presumption were just not pursued! coitus non circum - Moab Stone

In fact, my last reserve ride - was from a chop where my main opening sequence was started right around 2k. Got spun-up badly nearly instantly upon (only partial) main opening, that I got chopped right around 1k. So yes. I've had a mal requiring EP's when the main opening procedure itself was done at
