  2. landscape photos of Iceland? thanx Hallur, that would be very sweet! e-mail idgraphics@shaw.ca and I'll reply with my address. Sigur Ros is token icelandic music second only to Bjork who I also like....(big time sensuality & satisfaction) Smiles eustress. : a positive form of stress having a beneficial effect on health, motivation, performance, and emotional well-being.
  3. Got to see & hear Sigur Ros live last night in the Vogue Theatre (Vancouver B.C. Canada) Sigur Ros plays music of iceland- simple sweeping beauty, ethereal vocals, deeply moving sound. After the concert which was definitely inspiring, we left at rear exit doors and actually met the band !!!They gave away signed t-shirts and Von cd's (their first)..signed soccer balls.... As it was their last night of the "eighteen seconds before sunrise" tour, they invited everyone to Jack's Bar for party!!!!!!!! Jonsi bought shooters all night and every time we got up to leave- they made us sit back down. This band works hard to be as natural, sincere & honest as they can. Pretty awesome that they are not recognized everywhere they go. They prefer attention deflected from themselves and focused entirely on their music. Sigur Ros is a cool band from a cool place- they bring you the beautiful landscape of their homeland with their music. Jonsi uses cello bow to play guitar which is effects laden and atmospheric. What a totally unique sound!! I first heard their music featured in Vanilla Sky. Check them out, Smiles eustress. : a positive form of stress having a beneficial effect on health, motivation, performance, and emotional well-being.

  5. They jumped into the Reno Air Races in '87. Me and my b/f were intrigued. So it's partly their fault that I started jumping. One of the chuting stars landed flat on the tarmac infront of me at our airshow (flared late)- ...if you promote the sport- do it with talent and class. Smiles
  6. A flat track is great for horizontal separation...If you are in the base of larger formation (the last skydivers to track away) you want to stay horizontal in your track for sure. Everyone has different bodies -so achieve a flat track in different ways. I prefer to look back between my legs... Will always remember the first time I watched Roger Ponce turn to track- wow was I impressed! He was gone so fast -stayed completely horizontal. His bare toes pointed, feet together but arms out flat...(I called it the "jesus track"......) At that time I figured I was good at tracking- practise makes perfect...the more you use it, the better you get. Smiles
  7. just checked out this link for bartender online- www.webtender.com Browse through a listing of drinks sorted by drink, glass, or even ingredient, or you can use the search feature. There is a section called "In My Bar." What you do here is tell webtender.com what ingredients you have, and then you'll get a list of all the drinks you can make with those ingredients. The Bartender's Handbook section you will learn about bartending and mixing drinks. Happy Thanksgiving everyone- Smiles

  12. Vancouver Sun had to search their pics I suppose, for what they "own" or "paid for"... as if BASE was new to Vancouver in 1999.... Smiles

  14. Hello, Read in Vancouver Sun newspaper, (B.C. Canada) about 2 Seattle BASE jumpers and video man getting arrested for BASE off 42 ft. high rise in the city. One jumper landed on parked car...some damage to a buildings gutter.... As this reporter did not give much info, anyone know more specific details? I have questions to ask regarding this report. 1. Did the Seattle BASE jumpers not do enough research- and what research would be sufficient to BASE a building in the middle of busy downtown? How & why was decision made to BASE 42 ft. building when 52 ft. building a few blocks away.... 2. How is it possible that 3 people got arrested at the scene? 3. Were the BASE jumpers not experienced? 4. Shit happens but don't BASE jumpers feel as skydivers when it comes to promoting their sport? 5. Did Vancouver police confiscate gear, camera & video? What was the charge given? Smiles
  15. I am a skydiver with over 1,000 jumps logged- have not been interested in BASE jumping until recently. No way this forum would make me more likely or less likely to try BASE. My choice of gear and objects would be well researched everywhere, especially with those BASE jumpers I personally know. Mentors are my choice- skydive with/ have watched grow/and learned to respect many BASE jumpers. My decision to try BASE is my own. I am fortunate to have BASE mentors I have for years been lurking & learning & listening & watching footage of personal experiences.... This forum offers incredibly opportunity to ask more questions and educate... Thanx- Smiles

    cave BASE

Spooky? The footage I have been watching (Sotano de las Golondrinas) clearly shows the astounding visuals. One BASE the jumper has camera mounted to his belly (see pic attached) The walls seem to drop away after first couple of seconds- being enclosed by cave walls I feel would enhance the "speed" and sensation of the whole 5 sec. delay.... Watching the footage repetively as I have, is good training to prepare for actual jump. It is way easier to visualize and time the 5 sec. delay. The sound of swallows & parrots is quality in the footage also. Up here in Vancouver, Canada- beginning and end of season skydiving- I used to pack for "hop & pops"- then got away from doing them. Now I have a goal to cave base- will definately get into 5 sec. delays which may help- also making 500 BASE jumps to prepare along with accuracy confidence.... Is there a website with info on this trip? Sounds like the adventure of a lifetime.... Presently I am using the footage I have to animate cave base (cartoon)...will add link when complete. Thanxs so much for the info, Smiles eustress. : a positive form of stress having a beneficial effect on health, motivation, performance, and emotional well-being.

    cave BASE

landing area in footage I have looks like a piece of cake.....(cave of swallows) have no problem with 5 sec. delays, can land in the peas every skydive (flare) but also have huge 1200 ft. long -no obstacle grass field !! Encouraging knowing after 50 BASE jumps I could cave BASE.....incredible you just spent 8 days Would you go again? How much $$$ for expedition? How much physical strength required (climbing-repelling...working a winch??) How many women have experienced?? Would luv to hear all you can share when you have the time! Thanx~ Smiles

    cave BASE

What BASE experience is suggested for cave BASE? I feel that cave BASE would be the most comfortable and satisfying first for me.....(need feedback) I am not a BASE jumper. Skydive with and around quite afew for many years-watched many videos. I can relate to experiencing BASE but the landing area, rivers...water, rocks...traffic, busy streets, power lines...(no thanx)This I have chalked up to not enough confidence with accuracy skills. I've made 36 round jumps, 860 jumps under a 220 cruise-lite and 120 under my 150 triathlon. This season a buddy has downloaded to my harddrive, the most incredible personal footage of his cave BASE. I am estatic about experiencing this....watching the footage, slowing it down to still by still, I am so in awe...and have decided this is my goal- ...what steps should I take to reach it? Smiles
  21. Hey, I consider skydiving "secret stuff" when it comes to "wuffo's". I told no one at work- and one day heading out to aircraft, one of the salesmen drove by- and started honking his horn like crazy... yuk.....now everyone at work has to mention it and I hate responding- feel like a gauk. I have learned over the 15 yrs. in the sport not to "share" my secret too much. I find it hard to socialize with friends that do not skydive- when I feel like expressing what an awesome day or week I've had- just bite my tongue!! Thank god for my skydiving buddies and the fire pitt to let loose and comunicate with those that understand!! Smiles.
