  1. I luv to design skydive graphics, and have designed tattoo graphics. 2. extremely excited and proud!! http://www.vancouver-skydiving.bc.ca/aircraft.html Our Pilatus was proudly purchased from the Australian Airforce in 1994. Pilatus PC-6T C-GROO is equipped with a Pratt & Whitney Canada (PWC) PT6A-20 turbo-prop engine capable of developing 550 horsepower…… Last weekend C-GROO was being equipped with new engine PT6A-34 by Mike Fitzgerald / Icarius AeroTechnics(owner of F-GODZ being flown in GAP-Tallard) http://www.icarius-aerotechnics.com/pages/main.php Check out the gallery!! Mike is scheduled to leave this Sunday after taking a test flight in C-GROO. I am such a geek for not asking all the pertinent questions about the new engine like: horsepower, speeds/vertical rates/min up or down/range or difference in flight characteristics. All I know as a skydiver you couldn't ask for a better jumpship, faster ride to altitude, better fuel consumption, more power...more sex appeal.. I think C-GROO is the only Porter jumpship flown in Canada?? Anyone here get to experience ride up in A34?? Comfort Food

I do tend to "treat myself" when feeling depressed. Enjoy going to get my hair done, purchasing something special for myself....the best treat is going for some skydives........but my #1 choice for comfort food would be going for Japanese. mmmmmmm, miso soup, ebi sonomono, chicken teriaki, sushi, dynamite rolls, avacado rolls........saki- all in all the food is tantalizing to my taste buds, the service is spectacular, makes me feel good all over- SMiles eustress. : a positive form of stress having a beneficial effect on health, motivation, performance, and emotional well-being.
  4. I am not a Christian. The great annual cycle of Earth takes us through the seasons. I celebrate the change in the seasons, the beauty of nature, and I celebrate life. I choose to live in B.C. Canada. In-between looming mountains and hidden among forests, scattered around pristine lakes and rivers or clasping onto the oceans edge, lays my four-season playground. I celebrate in the spring season, usually around March, the local wineries and vineyards start their wine season Spring also brings the ritual of the “Burning of the Vines”. A mostly, April event… where burning the winter prunings from the previous season sends the nutrients back into the ground to Mother Earth. I celebrate when my spring bulbs bloom and I get to work in my garden. I celebrate when the weather brings altitude for skydiving. The summer season brings sunshine and outdoor events. Around the middle to end of June, I celebrate with a seafood gala. I celebrate “Harvest Weekend” in Fall, as it is time to get "graped." I celebrate when nature takes my breath away like seeing the breakers from the open Pacific arrive in British Columbia on the outer coast of the Queen Charlotte Islands, one of the most beautiful and diverse landscapes in the world. I celebrate when I see the lush orchards and vineyards, fertile irrigated croplands, low rolling hills, and a string of beautiful lakes that line the Okanagan Valley. I celebrate when I visit Hornby Island, just off the east coast of Vancouver Island, a rugged, seductive mix of northwest rainforest and magnificent warm-water swimming beaches. I celebrate when I see killer whales in the Gulf Islands, or Canadain Lynx, or a baby racoon practising its tree-climbing skills, or a pod of resident orcas cavorting in the Haro Strait near Victoria. B.C. rawks! I celebrate when it snows in the winter, the crystalline peace it brings. I celebrate when I reach the top of Whistler Mtn. My family has many traditions in December (Vancouver B.C.) We always attend together the Winter Solstice Lantern Festival Dec 21. Winter Peace in a Chinese Garden. In the spirit of the holiday season, the Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Classical Chinese Garden invites all to experience the peace and tranquility in this special oasis. We attend an Old Fashioned Skating rink at Canlan Ice Sports with 200 real Christmas trees, Thousands of lights, Santa’s House, The 8’ snowman. We traditionally take the Horse and Carriage Rides around Downtown Langley. Cost of the ride is bringing a donation of non-perishable food or toys. We attend the Festival of Lights at Van Dusen Botanical Garden. The central acres of Van Dusen Gardens are transformed into a holiday magic land with seasonal displays and over 20,000 twinkling lights. We enjoy the winter annual Sailpast at White Rock pier. Every year we take part in the annual winter Backyard Bird Count: tracking the bird population. (Lynn Valley Ecology Centre, North Vancouver) We take time to enjoy the pond in Winter at Lost Lagoon Nature House, Stanley Park. These warm and festive celebrations are filled with live music, roving performers, holiday craft workshops, blazing bonfires, hot cocoa and marshmellows and of course, beautiful lights and decorated christmas trees. Christmas holidays is the time for me to celebrate life with friends and family gathered together exchanging hand made gifts, eating, drinking, and laughing long into the deep, dark night. My motive to scream "Merry Christmas" and to all a good night! SMiles eustress. : a positive form of stress having a beneficial effect on health, motivation, performance, and emotional well-being.
  5. Is the term "peak oil" an ominous one when used in the energy context? Does it mean that we are consuming more than we are discovering? Or has oil discoveries already peaked (has been doing that for around 20 years?) So, if you aren't storing any oil then, production equals consumption? Does "peak oil" mean: production/consumption reaches it's maximum point and then begins to decrease forever more, or the exact moment when world oil production maxes out and begins its inexorable decline? The biggest fields in Saudi Arabia were discovered 50 years ago? The pools in reserve either don't exist or have far less oil than the optimistic Saudis tell us? http://www.grist.org/news/maindish/2005/11/03/simmons/ SMiles eustress. : a positive form of stress having a beneficial effect on health, motivation, performance, and emotional well-being.

  7. No I haven't built my own PC but did buy from Gateway 5 yrs. ago and my purchase had a 3 yr. warranty on all including a 6 yr. on my monitor. Re: this warranty was to my huge advantage along with the fact the desktop was upgradeable. So just under the 3 yr. mark "shit hit the fan", and Gateway just started delivering to my door upgrades to install and return originals to them. No tech help to install but good instructions. Loved the ease of opening her up, and replacing with upgrades in order: 1. fan/cooling system (upgraded) 2. harddrive (upgraded to 80GB Serial ATA II/300 7200rpm hard drive w/ 8MB cache) 3. RAM (upgraded to 512MB 533MHz DDR2 SDRAM Dual Channel (2-256MB modules) 4. cd/cdrw drive (upgraded to include RWcd/dvd) 5. motherboard (upgraded to Intel® Pentium® D Processor 820 featuring two processing cores (2.80GHz, 800MHz FSB, 2x1MB L2 cache) Basically a whole new PC in just under 3 yrs., now she is 5 yrs. old and I am still perfectly pleased.....I figure by next year "shit will start hitting the fan" again and then I get to build my own box!! Then of course the monitor will be replaced by my 6 yr. warranty with gateway!! 8. -your 2nd. "don't" quoted above- doesn't have an apostrophe- and I could give a sh*t less. If anyone reading what I post feels like pointing this stuff out- then it would be a good idea for them to "point" it out by not referring to "the hate" they feel towards people like me.... 9. http://www.udel.edu/...an/acei/multint9.htm ______________________________________________ My intention was to express how difficult it was for some of us to spell, ...too lazy to give credit where credit is due.... I didn't take the time to search source of what I quoted from notes I have made throughout years of studying the subject. So even if this is just a chat forum I could have quoted it as a something I read or author unknown, to please people like you?? 10. I was taught spelling in a different way than education is taught today. Each grade in school had a list of words that were taught repetitively and read in stories repetitively. Re: Dick and Jane can run. You did not use words you could not spell when you wrote. My son's were brought up in an education system that did not promote "spelling" as a important part of their grading. They were up in front of their classroom reading essays they wrote with drawing pictures using words they couldn't spell. Expression in language was not inhibited only to words they had learned to spell. For my oldest son spelling, writing, reading was a breeze. In fact he excelled in jouralism, and studied law. For my youngest it was a full time struggle. His reading comprehension was fine but he had a serious learning disability when it came to phonics and spelling. He excelled at math, re: a very logical, reasoning learner. All his teachers passed this off as not important...re: doctors cannot spell, spell checkers were always mentioned when I discussed my son's difficulty. He went through his education with instructors allowing him to do written tests orally as his grades were 100% when orally answering. I valued that expressing himself on paper was important to his life and encouraged him by making flash cards for each phonical sound with pictures he drew and colored. We played many games and his favorite was using his flash cards to sound out words. I wrote notes everyday with questions and placed them in his lunchbox, everyday at lunch he wrote down the answer in reply. Writing stories to me and the family was considered as a gift- so I have kept a scrapbook of Mom's day/Birthday gift stories/Christmas stories he wrote to me over the years. He wrote grocery lists for us before going grocery shopping....if he wanted a certain cereal on that list, he learned to spell it. He also wrote lists for shopping re: school supplies, clothing needed.... For many years he also wrote a personal daily diary. Amazingly he had no problems learning and spelling French! His French instructor played guitar and the children sang songs in French. When he started keyboarding on his computer (situated in my office next to mine) he was constantly asking me how to spell words- I would break every word into phonetic sounds and repetitively his spelling improved. In actuality he was memorizing every word he knew. The more he e-mailed and was involved on chat lists the faster his keyboard skills increased....the more his spelling ability increased to the point he could use spell checkers without any problem. One computer game he played online involved typing messages to others on his team and he had to get the spelling right and fast in order for the team to win. The most precious pictures I have of my youngest son are his facial expressions, tongue sticking out- gripping his pencil in frustration trying to spell each and every word while writing a story required extreme effort on his part. Children's ways of learning are as different as the colors of the rainbow. All people have different personalities, preferences and tastes. Teachers and parents need to be aware of and value these differences. Through observation, parents can learn what kind of learners their children are. Once parents know what kind of learner their child is, they can then develop activities that make the most of their child's abilities. Moving it sucks!! The frame, well that is my genious (used to be) secret recipe: 12 in. x 12 in. yellow plastic dairyland milk containers- 20 total laid out 4 across x 5 length. 3 sets of closet doors with handles removed- duck taped together - on top of containers for solid base. Bed skirt covers all perfectly........ (impossible to break) SMiles eustress. : a positive form of stress having a beneficial effect on health, motivation, performance, and emotional well-being.

  16. -back in the days when we used the crotch (V) on a cessna to launch 4 way (and I had this slot on a dive) -we were doing a jam up of our launch before loading the plane when my reserve popped.....and I was in the V !!!!!!! Had a t-shirt made with "NO 'V' for me!!" on the front with a graphic of reserve popping in this slot. The closing loop had broken- not where it covered the pin but underneath where it had worn from a sharp gromet....(changed my rigger and of course replaced gromets- gear had less than 100 jumps) Needless to say we then stopped using the 'V' slot on cessnas at our d.z.---(4-ways launched with far hanger, wheel, poised, and door.) 20. The DEA's own Administrative Law Judge Francis Young has declared that "marijuana in its natural form is far safer than many foods we commonly consume." Cannabis is radically different from tobacco in that it does not contain nicotine and is not addictive. Medium to heavy tobacco smokers will live seven to ten years longer if they also smoke'm marijuana. Smokers of cannabis have been shown to outlive non- smokers. Due to marijuana's ability to clear the lungs of smog, pollutants, and cigarette smoke, it reduces your risk of emphysema, bronchitis, and lung cancer. Marijuana is an expectorant and actually dilates the air channels it comes in contact with. Asthma sufferers smoke'm marijuana to provide relief. Smokin marijuana bud is more effective than all of the prescription drugs on the market. Cannabis tars do not contain radioactive materials. Marijuana smokers do not smoke anywhere near as much as tobacco smokers, due to the psychoactive effects of cannabis. Not one case of lung cancer has ever been successfully linked to marijuana use. Cannabis, unlike tobacco, does not cause any narrowing of the small air passageways in the lungs. Smoke'm the bud dudes (if ya gott'em) SMiles
  21. Sorry you've experienced watching an incident in the sport you love. Right now you need hugs... allow yourself to feel everything you feel. I would still be in shock, and emotionally stunned. Everyone reacts differently and in the past my reaction has been to stop jumping for awhile till my heart heals, and give myself time before making decisions. Once after losing a loved one in this sport, when I felt the time was right...I hopped on my ten speed-with my gear on my back and rode to the dz down a huge hill to make a skydive- celebrating every second of being alive. It is a great feeling to have "all your ducks in order" not only for yourself- but those you leave behind. 22. I am the only jackass who can't come home from the dz without leaving something behind........... ???????? but... ya gotta luv the skydivers I jump with for bb-sitting my stuff ---------all I have to do is show up the next day-week-month-year........and have one of them say.... "hey, didn't you leave your: altimeter, frap hat, shades, sweat shirt, leather jacket, wallet, sandals, running shoes,t-shirt,jeans,shorts, towel, shampoo, bottle of vodka, dip bowls, blender, daiquiri glasses, shot glasses, camcorder, camera, binoculars, gloves, log book, cooler, brush, smokes,???????? You'll find them over here!" in fact a few weeks ago I left my gear....unpacked and when I came back it was packed for me and put in a locker..........
  23. In this case the bikers were not hilarious, and there was other than "some funny stuff" happening at their party house located on a pig farm where Robert Pickton (owner of property) was supplying the "so called ladies" for the parties. To find out on the news a few months after I attended the party there- (2002) that Robert Pickton had been arrested (now facing 27 counts of first-degree murder in the deaths of Vancouver prostitutes--B.C. Canada) was appauling. Wild parties on this pig farm at the Hell's Angels party house included the prostitute drug addicted victims, but in the most unimaginable and grotesque manner. In total 31 separate traces of DNA have been found on Pickton's property. The victims were vulnerable women working in the sex-trade in Vancouver's seedy Downtown Eastside area. So- the victims were picked up by Robert Pickton to supply the bikers parties, supplied with drugs in exchange for biker entertainment..... Ya sure...as long as everyone's enjoying themselves no problem???? SMiles
  24. I agree- I attended a bikers party where there was huge jars of dill pickles in the ladies room? Out around the fire pitt in back the ladies were dropping their pants and bending over to spew their pickle in the bikers faces for entertainment----when the pickles got spewed the bikers dropped their pants to have anal sex with the "so called" ladies....while everyone else watched and enjoyed. Didn't see anyone else (crowd of over 50) leaving the party like I did. So- no potential humiliation with these animals is proof of how "tough" they are???? SMiles
