Bart D. Ehrman- Misquoting Jesus I have not quite finished reading "Misquoting Jesus" by a world-class biblical scholar that claims to be an authority on the history of the New Testament, the early church, and the life of Jesus. As I have never held a ultraconservative view of the Bible, (never assumed when reading the New Testament I was reading an exact copy of Jesus's words) ....I am interested in comments from a "Christian" that has read this book. *edit link to watch interview on the book by Jon Stewart (the daily show) search for "Bart Ehrman" http://www.comedycentral.com/shows/the_daily_show/videos/most_recent/index.jhtml?start=33 ---search for "Bart Ehrman" SMiles eustress. : a positive form of stress having a beneficial effect on health, motivation, performance, and emotional well-being.

I misunderstood you ___________________________________ Maybe if you were more specific..... Your occupation requires you to ask mother's what they do for a living and you scribble down unemployed when they reply "full time mother." You get annoyed when you hear the term 'full time mother.' When you get "I haven't got time to work and look after children" comment that just infuriates you even more. The paperwork you fill out isn't a yes/no answer, you have to state occupation which is why you put either housewife or unemployed. The people you deal with aren't your average decent people who work hard and make the decision to look after the kids/ you deal with mainly 'welfare queens' …the ones that sit on their ass and do nothing but justify it by saying they are parents/ you have no problem with genuine people who stay at home to look after their kids, prior to going to school or who home teach/ you feel being a mum isn't an occupation, its a responsibility. __________________________________ I think I might understand you now, Scoop/Sam... sure glad I do not have your "occupation." By any chance are you a police officer? If so---I respect the hell outa you! SMiles/Karen .......you wonder why the fuck you even thought of starting anything that could upset a bunch of mothers, they are the worst -particularly the middle aged ones with their belief of self importance. .......you certainly didn't upset me and I am the middle aged one!! enjoy that!----mr. I'm misunderstood.... eustress. : a positive form of stress having a beneficial effect on health, motivation, performance, and emotional well-being.

I replied: Why not just ask "are you part of the labor force?" to your post above. You reply with: There was no mention of paperwork you fill out stating your occupation in your original post, or how you filled it in. If I was asked to state my occupation in paperwork, and my prime occupation was to care for my family and/or home, and I had left the paid workforce to care for my family and/or home... I would state: my primary occupation has been "homemaker" from (the month/date to month/date.) Then further define my skills, and worker characteristics related to this occupation. Re: child care provider-- supporting my children's physical, intellectual, and emotional development. Other aspects of homemaking are organization and communication skills (shopping, cooking, cleaning, yard work, home repairs, money managing)..on and on. Being a homemaker requires courage, tenacity, planning, determination and flexibility. All those qualities are also required for many jobs. The person answering your questions is more educated than you are. Re: ________________________________________ In economics, a person who is ready-able and willing to work yet is unable to find a paying job is considered unemployed. Typically, employment and the labor force include only work done for economic gain. Hence, a homemaker is neither part of the labor force nor unemployed. Nor are full-time students nor prisoners considered to be part of the labor force or unemployment. It is possible to be neither employed nor unemployed- to be outside of the "labor force." These are people who have no job and are not looking for one. _____________________________________________ The term "full time mother" is not referring to "full time employed in the labor force" so I do not understand your so called "rant." I may be a "full time skydiver, or gardner, or graphic designer, or homemaker, or mother,".... Why not just ask "are you part of the labor force?" Why not just ask "are you part of the labor force?" Every mother is a working mother, whether she spends time away from home to earn a paycheck or not. My son died at birth with spina bifida 15 yrs. ago- The scans done early in my pregnacy detected spina bifida and I was told he would not survive birth. At the time due to abortion laws, a cessarian birth was not performed -(the hospitals did not want to be sued) it was required that I carry him full term (one emotional mess to feel him alive and kicking...) The opportunity to hold Leland and have a thorough look at every eeenie part of him after birth was very helpful -dealing with his loss. thanx so much for posting!! You have more display area than me! I do like the keyboard/mouse on one level but couldn't believe how hard it was to find a desk with pull out area wide enough to accommodate keyboard and mouse. Like whoever designed the system figured one could work with mouse on different level? Anyhoo, depends how much you use your keyboard- and how much booze you have to drink.... I prefer to have it the right level....... and display at higher level---(used to stack old phone books under it) SMiles eustress. : a positive form of stress having a beneficial effect on health, motivation, performance, and emotional well-being.

Hey! painting warhammer citadel miniatures rawks! - of course the dark sorceror of chaos was my son's choice. The detail we got was priceless- the collection has grown over years....this winter I painted the riding chaos dragon. We store all the miniatures in styrofoam blocks cut for their shapes. He takes them to the local comic shop in his tool kit, where he plays the board game with friends. He played Warhammer online until his character was worth money on e-bay.....then he waited until he got the best price before selling it. I couldn't believe how many people would inspire to buy a character to play the game. At times I wondered if he was addicted but as his computer was in my office, I was in the room while he played- his keyboard/spelling skills became outrageous. He also learned to time his games (self dicipline) Anyhooo, Time spent together painting detail was and still is enjoyed. My mom was raised back on the farm, her mother had 18 kids- (14 sons) My mom was the oldest daughter - basically grandma was prego for 18 yrs. and my mom was responsible for way more than I ever was. She didn't smoke or drink while she carried me- or my older sister & brother but my dad was arrested for bigamy before I was born. My mom raised us on her own. Single mother in the 50's was the shitz- we moved every 5-6 months, no car, t.v., bikes, new clothes, school supplies, shoes, bedroom etc. My best childhood memory was the fire dept. coming to our door regularly with a box of food. I was made a ward of the court by age 12 and then ran away from every foster home, group home till I was 16. Living on the streets mostly -67 to -71 was an adventure. Freedom & survival skills I was charged with fraud (under $1,000.-raised to adult court) spent one year in jail.Failure On my own and working from 17 and done very well, raising 2 sons the happiest times of my life. Sucess and responsibility I have volunteered regular to the community "food barn" for 20 yrs. helping feed kids. I love and respect the hell outa my mom, my son's love and respect the hell outa me. getting "accepted" into the sport? My attitude is having the ability to accept people for who they are, and giving back to the sport is what I enjoy. #1 is new blood, and new blood is what makes this sport happen. Becoming part of a "in crowd" is not in the picture as the "in crowd" do not have a nano of the great vibes the "new blood" have. Politics? ...who has the time for it? Over 750,000 British Columbians get their drinking water from wells. Where I live the Abbotsford-Sumas aquifer is unconfined, and thus vulnerable to contamination by surface activities. In recent years, wells drawing on this aquifer have shown elevated levels of nitrate. Result of excess applications of manure and fertilizers on agricultural land, and of poorly-functioning septic tank disposal systems. We are very fortunate we can stop and collect our natural spring drinking water -(fill up our jugs for free.) Source is local from Marble Hill- Chilliwack's (Fraser Valley B.C.) where groundwater is the best in Canada. We find the taste of natural spring water is superb- I even prefer it for making tea and coffee. The Faces of Meth? what about the brains of Meth users? Where is any community ever going to have the care of paranoid schizophrenics (mentally ill) looked after properly, never alone all the meth users (drug induced) permanent paranoid schizophrenics cared for? formication, aka, speed bumps, meth sores, crank bugs?? Meth use causes a rise in body temperature and increased blood flow to the skin to counteract it. The produced sweat contains an enzyme that increases blood flow to the skin, when the sweat evaporates, it removes the protective sebaceous oil which coats the skin. The combined effects of dehydration, sweating and removal of the sebaceous oil on the skin create a sensation on the nerve endings (feelings of something irritating or "crawling" on or under (parasitosis) the skin.) The skin is an escape route for the toxic wastes used to create the drug. The psycholocical aspects of this drug complicate the situation by causing the user to "tweak out" and obsessively pick, scrape and dig at their skin. The results are penetration and removal of the dermis, causing open, red (often bleeding) sores, most commonly on the face and arms but can be anywhere on the body. This provides a potential breeding ground for staph infection. "mix of laundry detergent and lighter fluid" Over-the-counter cold and asthma medications containing ephedrine or pseudoephedrine, red phosphorous, hydrochloric acid, drain cleaner, battery acid, lye, lantern fuel, and antifreeze are among the ingredients of meth. Athetosis (writhing jerky, or flailing movements), irritability, extreme nervousness, insomnia, confusion, tremors, anxiety, aggression, incessant talking, hyperthermia, and convulsions, anger, violence, panic, paranoia, auditory and visual hallucinations, repetitive behavior patterns, and formication. The binge abuse cycle is made up of these stages: rush, high, binge, tweaking, crash... I am unsure of any successful treatment available for meth addicts- education is everywhere and fear tactics obviously do not work. A methamphetamine "high" artificially boosts self-confidence, users are overcome by a "superman syndrome." In this state, methamphetamine abusers ignore their physical limitations and try to do things which they are normally incapable of performing. A tweaker is a methamphetamine addict who probably has not slept in 3-15 days and is irritable and paranoid. Tweakers often behave or react violently and if a tweaker is using alcohol or another depressant, his negative feelings and associated dangers intensify. The tweaker craves more meth, but no dosage will help re-create the euphoric high, which causes frustration, and leads to unpredictability and potential for violence. All one has to do is visit the local hospital emergency room to find it 1/2 full of meth addicts, I really feel for nurses, doctors, police that have to be trained to deal with tweakers. At the same time when one needs medical attention in ER I feel they desperately need a ward separate with padded cells for tweakers. Police in our community have been using the bait car program- steal one-you go to jail. The camera videos the inside of the vehicle and they show the vid clips online http://www.baitcar.com/.....100% tweakers and crack heads. SMiles

My understanding from the film was that he stayed with the bears in the summer and timing crucial to leaving before grizzly time of famine. An airport official infuriated Treadwell and they returned to the Grizzly Maze, the vast tangle of meadows and thickets stretching inland from Kaflia Bay (qualified as the most dangerous place in Alaska for a human to be.) It was in that maze that the remains of Treadwell and Huguenard were found, they camped unarmed in a dangerous bear migration route during a time of near famine. Park officials had repeatedly warned Treadwell not to camp among bears—and even threatened to expel him from Katmai. Scientists who study Alaska brown bears said they had been warning Treadwell for years that he needed to be more careful around the huge and powerful coastal twin of the grizzly. U.S. Geological Survey bear researcher Tom Smith; Sterling Miller, formerly the Alaska Department of Fish and Game's top bear authority; and others said they tried to warn the amateur naturalist that he was being far too cavalier around North America's largest and most powerful predator. When park rangers went in to retrieve the remains of Treadwell and Huguenard -- they ended up killing two bears near the couple's campsite. A character study of a man who crossed the barrier separating human from animal for his own "selfish needs"...(two bears were shot due to him) We already know our place in the food chain. The bears didn’t need Treadwell's protection. Katmai National Park has the largest bear protection area in the world. This would-be actor wanted to star in his own documentary. I watched "the grizzly man" the same night I watched "march of the penguins"... -felt the footage of the "grizzly bears" and scenery was beauty...I found it difficult to relate to "the grizzly man" and his teddy bear....so lost interest in the story line. He returned back with his girlfriend during a time period he had never stayed(fully aware of death)....because of problems with flight personel??
