Can you set up your tent, with sleeping bags and actually come back to find them still there?? If you import a 10GB video file from your digital video camera and you have 12GB of RAM in your PC, will you able to work with that entire 10GB video file loaded into memory??? No writing back and forth to the disk??? ---massive speed enhancements possible for anyone performing processor and memory intensive functions like audio and video editing. 32-bit systems are butting up against a limit to how much memory your system can make use of. More RAM?,....can't make use of more than 4GB. On a per processor basis, you really can't make use of more than 2GB of RAM in a 32-bit system. Even if you have 2 processors to make full use of the 4GB limitation, the RAM is shared by the operating system and any applications currently running, reducing your available memory to something less than 4GB. While that seems like a ton of RAM compared to the 512MB of RAM most of us are comfortably using to run Windows, it doesn't begin to touch the potential. Windows XP 64-bit supports a maximum of 128GB of RAM with further extensions into the virtual memory space. Audio editing ---the x64 version of Sonar 4 is the same elegant multi-track digital audio workstation available to 32-bit users. What makes the x64 version different is the optimization for use with 64-bit processors and massive increases in memory, a speed improvement of at least 30%. Will 64-bit processing become the norm as people phase out their existing PC setup for something new over the next 3-5 years??? Power users who need faster audio and video processing will start to get the benefits of 64-bit operating systems, while the rest of us will start seeing the enhancements slowly trickle down to the consumer level..... Ya, you got it! I am terrible--- when .swf file is pronounced I say "small wave file"...same as for .bmp--I call them bump files!!!! Flash "Export movie" exports sound in a movie to a WAV file. MP3 is the smallest format for sound I think. Flash supports importing and exporting Adobe Illustrator formats. This format supports accurate conversion of curve, line style, and fill information. When you export a flash image as a vector graphic (Illustrator) you preserve its vector information- you can edit these files into other vector based drawing programs. I should not complain about importing .cdr (corel draw) into flash as it states that it only supports .ai format. So- I need to purchase Freehand at least. Freehand is the best choice for creating vector graphics for import into flash. Waiting to open huge flash sites.... humbuggers... You can reduce a movie's size before exporting it to minimize downloading time: using symbols for every element that appears more than once, use tweened animations which require less overhead than series of keyframes, lines created with pencil tool require less memory than brush strokes, using layers to separate elements, using modify> curves > optimize to minimize the number of separate lines that are used to describe shapes. Limit number of fonts and font styles, group elements as much as possible, use gradients sparingly....filling an area with gradient color requires about 50 bytes more than filling it with solid color............ yada yada.. You can design with the viewer in mind, but so many don't care. I have use of high speed cable but atleast try to consider everyone viewing. it sure took awhile for animation to load---then my pc crashed in the middle of it---- shitzzzz Ctrl Alt Del to end task and then ended up re-booting. Got online again and went to keytoons website. Dr. Flow and Maxwell short film, maxwell render, real flow for liquid simulation- but couldn't find link from the actual website to view it. When I came back to dz.com got message--The page you are looking for is currently unavailable. The Web site might be experiencing technical difficulties, or you may need to adjust your browser settings. Refresh did dick.--- kept trying dz.com for 20 min. before...........I could open site, but slowed right down trying to open your post. Anyway- my pc aint up to par I suppose--do I need an upgrade of a player to view this link?? I be afeared to try it again....what I did get to view of film was so incredible... Anyone else have same problems?? SMiles eustress. : a positive form of stress having a beneficial effect on health, motivation, performance, and emotional well-being.

awesome, incredibly interesting... Until close friends decided to head to Peru and climb ancient Inca trail (ruins of Machu Picchu) I didn't have too much interest...wondered why they would want to go there?? Must say I have taken interest now, and have learned so much history I didn't find that interesting when in school. Some pics at this site: http://www.crystalinks.com/incaruins.html They stayed in Cuzco, flew over the Nazca Lines to view them....the most outstanding group of geoglyphs in the world. Etched in the surface of the desert pampa sand about 300 hundred figures made of straight lines, geometric shapes and pictures of animals and birds - and their patterns are only clearly visible from the air???? Also they travelled to Easter Island....one of the most isolated islands in the world but 1200 years ago a double-hulled canoe filled with seafarers from a distant culture landed upon its shores. (Inca must of visited Easter Island?) http://www.mysteriousplaces.com/Easter_Island/ It is unclear why the Easter Islanders turned to statue construction on such a massive scale, the soft volcanic tuff was perfect material for statue carving. Wow, the pictures & video they brought home are outstanding and still so much mystery to uncover on this earth!! They brought home a blanket woven in Peru for me and of course a black bottle of Pisco, shaped like statue of Moai.....I luv Pisco now! Just cannot believe that we were not visited by UFO's at time periods of our history....that gave a punch of extra intelligence to our civilizations development!! My son is heading down to Coachella Valley next week with his friends (Coachella concert in the desert)....I asked him to bring me back a Hopi katsina doll. I am so interested in the benevolent spirit beings, rainmakers from the Gods-- pic attached SMiles eustress. : a positive form of stress having a beneficial effect on health, motivation, performance, and emotional well-being.

but your missing the point! the beauty of flash is the tiny teeny size of the .swf (small wave file!!) SMiles eustress. : a positive form of stress having a beneficial effect on health, motivation, performance, and emotional well-being.

What an awesome job you have! Instructional Designer.... No wonder you luv flash!! I've done tons of work in graphic design for instruction manuals...re" owners manuals for canopies and rigs...parachute instruction manuals for cspa. Gotta luv when skydiving is involved!! Would be cool to animate basic freefly instruction in flash- also I have a huge collection of skydive graphics I designed that can be used in flash to animate. I am a computer graphic designer and flash opened up my world for sure. To draw the detail graphics for your animated instruction you have to step out of flash basic drawing- as it sucks for detail. I am waiting for the day when drawing in flash is more than basic...and becomes vector based. For instance today I am working on an animated banner....re: Aerosmith logo has wings...to design banner with their logo in flight...re: on canopy in flight...you can draw the basic canopy in flash but you have to draw the graphic of their logo in vector based software and import it into flash. re: the logo incorporated onto shape of cells of canopy. I use Corel Draw software to draw in which is basically the same as Adobe Illustrator. quick sample of beginning process of designing banner.........(have to complete seams in canopy and cells. lines) also create motion tween properly for the effect I am looking for. aerosmith animated banner SMiles eustress. : a positive form of stress having a beneficial effect on health, motivation, performance, and emotional well-being.

hey! I've had so much fun playing with my flash program...(never got past flash 4 version though)..not pleased with how their fonts display (text)..also drawing tools suck. Has later versions of Flash improved?? I use Corel Draw 9 software, never got into Adobe Illustrator...but regardless if you draw vector images and import into flash- it sure does one shitty job of all those perfect curves!! So if Macromedia & Adobe combine and create new software that can be used together...re: import graphics drawn in illustrator into flash- without any distortion of curves, outlines, angles..........both with same color features..... I'll be the first to purchase it!! SMiles eustress. : a positive form of stress having a beneficial effect on health, motivation, performance, and emotional well-being.

What's the most you have ever spent on sunglasses?
smiles replied to Skolls081102's topic in The Bonfire
3 years ago and still wear them today... Bolle, polarized for $180. cnd. consequently improving the vision in strong light conditions. Polarized lenses protect you from UV rays, these have (UV 550 tint high protection) ---from glare and intense light, included with scratch resistant coating. I am lost without them, awesome for driving (glare) skiing..bright lights, In the late winter and early spring, fresh white snow can increase the amount of UV radiation you receive by up to 85 percent. Of course water and sand reflect UV radiation. We all know that it takes very little time for the UV rays to damage your DNA, increase your risk to skin cancers, weaken your immune system and damage your eyes. Up to age 10 or 12, the crystalline lenses of children are very sensitive to UV radiation. It is therefore very important to protect the eyes of children when out in the sun. The cornea is very delicate and more fragile than the skin of your face. You must take care of your eyes ......... go buy your wife some and make an effort to be sure children in your family are protected. The 100% uv protection sticker is manatory in Canada- on all sunglasses sold. lousey pic attached!! I received a gift certificate for my birthday at the European Health Spa. What a beauty gift!! This incredible full body massage helps to endure a deep state of relaxation through the use of heated stones strategically placed and used on the body. The room had a huge water effect (waterfall) down one wall- the sound of the water was relaxing. First I laid on my back with heated stones underneath while my hands were massaged...after every finger was done a heated stone was placed in between and then a larger stone was placed in my palm. Then both arms & legs massaged with heated stones after oil massaged in. All stones were covered with towels on my body warmed in the same water as the stones. Feet were massaged and heated stones placed inbetween each toe.. then my scalp was massaged, my face...heated stones placed over my eyes, my neck was massaged with heated stones.....I fell asleep and woke up when all stones were being removed---asked to roll over under blanket on my tummy. My neck, shoulders and back all massaged with hot oil and then with heated stones....the guy took one stone at a time out of heater and use it to massage--then towels from the heated water were placed over my body, over the heated stones placed strategically. It's been too long since I felt so relaxed...started visualizing hot summer at the river with my boat tied around a huge tree---in the shade, floating on the waves- listening to the sound of the water over the rocks........zzzzzzzzzzz didn't want to get off that table!!! 1 hr. seemed like 2 though. Awesome- now all I can think about is the roaster in the massage room that was used to heat all the rocks and towels in the water......... We have the exact roaster (electric) down at the dz, so have to find some flat smooth river rocks to heat in it --and use the top of a picnic table to give people hot rock massages!!!! dream on SMiles eustress. : a positive form of stress having a beneficial effect on health, motivation, performance, and emotional well-being.

hmm, have never jumped anything but pull out (15 yrs.) Sure do not see many with it and cannot figure out why?? Especially free flyers. I luv my pilot chute in the container where it belongs.......and the confidence I am in control pullin my own pin. I did have a pilot chute mal (the stiching of centre safety line broke at attachment) on newer collapsable pc. The system was cocked but pc in low drag....over collapsed....amazing the bag still extracted from the container when I gave a big punch to side of my rig...no tangle with bridle...and damn if my main inflated out of bag also...wonkers opening with hands ready on handles for ep. Not a pretty site to watch- then again so great I had postive pull to extract my pin!! hmmm, good idea to check over your pc system when cocking, even if it is in new condition. Watched on the news recently about PC's keyboard having its own alien ecosystem growing in the dark recesses beneath the keys. Re: they took apart a keyboard used in hospital and tested for and found virus's alive.........gross......the amount of shit up close and personal. So cheap to replace but damn if mine is over 3 yrs. old and in need of some spring cleaning. I do have a slide out tray for it so covering it with its plastic cover and sliding the tray in when not in use does save on the dirt and dust coating keys. I smoke and that is so disgusting- turn it over and tap it to get all the ashes out!! Vacuum or use canned air to clean. Hair is so amazing....then of course sticky keys (spilled drinks and crumbs) Just unreal how much crap accumulates especially noticable when cleaning mouse ball.............gross also. Hey, thanx...you are too sweet. Your post hit a nerve....and I reponded with my own personal experience with Religion in my family, on a public chat list??? I should apologize to you as my response was totally dumping my experience rather than reponding to what you posted. In regard to Born againism & neighbors: I have been in this situation and avoided them for a very long time. On the surface they seemed like lovely people. Their children came around singing carols at Christmas time giving a plate of home made cookies, they constantly invited me for dinner in their home and I did finally accept. Sitting at the table with the family one of the son's spilled a glass of milk on the carpet and the father sitting at the head of the table had a major fit of anger. Here I felt what it was like for the kids....they were living in "fear from their father." After dinner I was invited to sit in the living room with the Mom & Dad and the children were ordered to their rooms to do their bible study. I felt "cornered" and uncomfortable. They asked if I had met Jesus and when I replied "no" they went on and on explaining how Jesus was everywhere. The father explained how once in his life he was on the verge of suicide and was saved...by jesus....or "born again." I got myself out of there some how real quick....and avoided communicating with them again. When I was 5 yrs. old an uncle asked permission from my mother to take me to church with his family. The church was a holy rollin evangilistic service where people were yelling and screaming and some people were on the floor rolling around. I was absolutely terrified. So- not having a father, think I was naturally afraid of "older men." Also figure from that day forward I have felt extremely uncomfortable with anyone that preaches...even sales men, male teachers, authority figures. A strong instinct of not trusting. Below I am quoting parts from some online sources on "Know Jesus, or Go to Hell" Born againism. http://www.angelfire.com/pa/greywlf/why.html At the same time, I have heard the scripture "Judge not, that ye be not judged." Anyone switched from SL to AFF during progression?
smiles replied to Orange1's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I feel my static line training not only taught me canopy control (under rounds) but was excellent experience in training rip cord pulls, spotting and confidence in launching from the aircraft solo. Also altimeter awareness from 5 second delays up to 15 second delays with progression at your own speed. SMiles eustress. : a positive form of stress having a beneficial effect on health, motivation, performance, and emotional well-being. -
My first jump made was tandem in 1987. Started my first jump training static line. 1st. 2 jumps were static line then 6 training rip cord pulls static line... 9 to 11th jumps were freefall 5 second delays, 12 to 15th were freefall 10 second delays, 16-20th were freefall 15 second delays. Great training and what I liked best was you progressed at your own speed without the pressure and cost of AFF or PFF. I made 30 jumps under round canopies with reserve on my belly. Stood them all up without any injury -before transition to jumping squares with round reserves. I may have smoke comin out of my ears too! Not a very good feeling to have about yourself, and I have come to resent anyone that tries to push what they believe on to me...even if they feel in their heart that they have to save me. If the bible was meant for me to pick up and read, and understand without any help, or fear of goin to hell, then possibly I may read it. Feel very strongly that my children not be subjected to any religion until they are old enough to make decisions for themself. Without religion they naturally are fully aware of instinct of what is right and wrong. My partner & myself were together for many moons, raised our children, skydived together...were not religious and never got married. Never committed any crimes, tender loving, good people and parents that would give anyone the shirt off our back. My partner decided one day after 9/11 that he was going to start studying the bible-- but the bible was the JW version and the reason was out of fear. People change they say...but I feel that his choice of religion has separated us completely and any religion that drives people apart and against each other....rather than together, is not for me. He studied with JW's and using Watchtower as full time guide. So, so much I do not understand but regardless what hurts so bad is our relationship now is not 2 partners in life together. Also all of our past relationship is considered by him to be "not in the truth", he considers himself "in the truth" and me "not in the truth"..............re: we lived in sin not being married and having children, and he is "not in the truth" if he has relationship with me. He wanted to get married at a JW hall--- otherwise, we can live under the same roof but not have sex, he lived downstairs, I lived up. We had a fake existence doing that....so I got out. He has been more intensely encouraged to only "hang" with those "in the truth" and feels JW's are the one -and only true religion on this earth. Something about the faithful & discreet slave class, trinity is not believed, going to war not believed, spreading the good word to save others is #1. Only a flock of 144,000 go to heaven and rule with Christ. The 144,000 are born again as spiritual sons of God. Christ was first of God's creations, Kingdom under Christ will rule earth in righteousness and peace on earth. He is about to be baptized- I sincerely do not know him anymore, even if he did choose against this religion- do not think I could forgive him. It is almost like he is mentally ill, or part of a cult. Everything is either good or evil in his mind, Armageddon is going to happen- concentrates souly on negative news in the world, takes verses from the bible literally.....and argues full time about his knowledge of being correct. Socially our group of great friends- he doesn't consider friends anymore. He doesn't want to skydive anymore because of the people...says "atleast the people at the hall don't drink and drive............." I just keep telling him to find himself a sweet JW lady and get busy saving everyone else. I do not need saving. Even his relationship with his own son's has become distant, they prefer not to communicate with him as everything comes around to Jehovah. Makes no sense to try and validate what he believes, just understand that he is doing what he thinks is right in his heart. yada yada, he has broken my heart. Hey, hope the pain is getting less by the hour! Can you visualize a nice white smile, or biting into a huge apple, choppin on a steak?? As a ex-dental assistant----have never heard of pills taken at home. I worked for years where people were put out -under anesthetic and we did oral surgery. 100% complaint no matter how many extractions or titanium posts....was jaw pain due to the size of bite blocks used. When you are passed out the dentist can open your jaw wider than you could ever open normally yourself...huge bite blocks are placed in your mouth while procedures are taking place. Your jaw will be in pain for weeks just due to bite blocks, never alone the extractions and drilling etc......... triazolam/halcion? Anterograde amnesia of varying severity and paradoxical reactions have been reported following therapeutic doses of triazolam. Data from several sources suggest that anterograde amnesia may occur at a higher rate with triazolam than with other benzodiazepine hypnotics. Anterograde amnesia - Inability to remember ongoing events after taking the drug.... You just took pills for one appt. at a dentist, but bet you will feel space cadet for a few days along with pain killers. Also good you do remember some things!! I am not so afraid of dental procedures when local anesthetic used but I sure would not feel comfortable with having dentistry procedures done while under anesthesia. In er at my local hospital young teens are being admitted that are in a comma like state, and feel no pain. Ketamine is being sold as ecstasy (anesthetic for animals used by vets) re: liquid ketamine is absorbed into tablets looking like ecstasy tablets. When ketamine is swallowed, the drug is absorbed into blood which goes to the liver first, where it is changed into norketamine before reaching the brain. (severe numbing & sedating effects..re: rape drug) Ketamine produces a dose-related progression of effects from state of dreamy intoxication to delirium accompanied by the inability to move, feel pain or remember what has occurred while under the drugs influence. Very unnerving to go to a party, take what you think is ecstasy and come to- in er- a day 1/2 later with absolutely no memory of what has happened to you. hey, congrats on your first concert, sounds like your seating was perfect too.... Why booo to U2? Some of my reasons along with some quotes from reviews I have read, that I agree with: After 13 albums which have sold over 140 Million copies do U2 matter any more? And, more importantly, does a band that has been around for 25 years have the drive to produce a great album?? How to dismantle an atomic bomb has a few great tracks when they just hand it to the Edge- and let it rip...............and a whole mess of schmaltzy filler. They jerkily promoted U2-branded iPods over big, neon expanses, the flesh and blood members of U2 have been reduced to signifiers, mock-ups, representatives. Are they bigger than their band.?? Bono is forever tiptoeing the line between wholly extraordinary and idiotically self-obsessed. I now find myself skipping Vertigo because it's been played to death. Bono's totally singing in Spanish! Wait, he said catorce! ....when the Edge slams into his guitar, hollering a smirky "Hola!" to Bono's quasi-confrontational "Hello, hello!" ...not bad. (How long? How long must we sing this song?)--------(How long? How long can we listen to this song?) "City of Blinding Lights" is the record's climax, and How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb begins its gnawing descent almost immediately, culminating with disastrous closer "Yahweh", a whiny, monotonous mess that's easily one of the worst songs U2 have ever recorded. U2 tradition, the album-closing chitchat with the Lord. It's too long and too slow. Bono has talked publicly about U2's longevity and quasi-diversity, crediting their shape-shifting to his band's unbreakable internal bonds-- U2 can afford to mess around, because the "spirit" of the band is so strong, so infinitely recognizable. But maybe U2's immortality is also their biggest curse-- and now they're forced to wallow in superstardom, forever perpetuating their own colossal myth. Bono crusading righteously to reduce Third World debt, campaigning against AIDS, spitting post-Beat induction speeches from Jann Wenner's Hall of Fame podium, bobbing stupidly for Apple, talking and talking and talking about himself. Publicly, U2 are overblown and decadent, sporting silly, abstract monikers and booking colossal stadium tours, calling presidents, wearing sunglasses in the dark, anchoring the Super Bowl, pushing products..... Hey, as you say....I did luv them in Joshua Tree & Rattle & Hummmmm but they have lost my interest as a fan because they are not "about the music" anymore....they are about the business of making music for $$$$$$$$$ SMiles
