  1. Awh, I forgot: - you started singing - I like this. Have also done it, it's fun, it's relaxing. You're female, so you can multitask, so you shouldn't stop singing - you were aware of the runway coming uncomfortably close (if the safety guy or an instructor didn't talk about this with you, you just felt this way, but better be too careful than reckless) and acted in a mindful way. I often see younger jumpers crossing the runway at only 30 m (100 ft) though we have a rule to not approach it any lower than 300 m (1000 ft) - and these folks often ignore any advice and do it again and again - you didn't do anything potentially dangerous: So goodonya! And - applause - congrats to your landing The sky is not the limit. The ground is. The Society of Skydiving Ducks
  2. Interesting analogies and makes perfect sense to me, so: +1!
  3. Thanks for your reply, nice work-around - I'll check that (or better have my son who studies IT stuff do it ) BTW: The figure next to you on your avatar reminds me of the character "Bernd das Brot" of German KiKa (channel for kids, but Bernd is much more for grown-ups - just as the Simpsons are...) Have a look at the pic attached. The sky is not the limit. The ground is. The Society of Skydiving Ducks
  4. Thanks for the latest cartoon, nicely done: Both jump and cartoon, I think. Ask your instructors about flat turns but the way you managed the turn was already OK as far as I can make up from the cartoon. You didn't freak out, and a lot of things went well. I would call that a successful ride Looking forward to your next adventures. What a pity there's the big pond between us so the chances of jumping together aren't very high but I will follow your cartoon adventures The sky is not the limit. The ground is. 5. Hi folks, does the new GoPro2 provide the opportunity to playback videos (via AV-output) continuously? Interested even if only available via "use on your own risk firmware" - in this case I'd be glad about reports, though As to "continuous": Means I go back to the first scene/chapter of the whole (tandem handcam) video, link the GoPro via AV to a DVD-recorder, start "play" and start recording. Just as if the GoPro were a Sony PC camera Background: Spares me some hassle and I still can use my DVD recorder and do not have to buy a new laptop with video editing and DVD rendering software. 6. I might have seen something similar, but am not sure. As far as I see it he had to rip of one wing because the bridle of his PC got tangled with it? Anyway, I wanted to express general disapproval of videos intended to show problems (and hopefully solutions) which are dubbed with the latest, coolest or whatever kind of music the poster is in - it's not necessary, a potential distraction and a potential barrier to folks who live in areas with copyright-infringement watchdogs I was just venting, not particularly focussed on this very video. 7. Ah, are we being sarcastic 'cause we see it again and again? Once we're at it: WISOL: Will impact sooner or later. The sky is not the limit. The ground is. The Society of Skydiving Ducks
  8. Bugger. Just another video which is not available in Germany because some music copyrights might be violated. I do not approve of the way the GEMA (German royalty enforcement agency, so to say) behaves but OTOH I do ask myself why on earth folks who upload a video for others to learn from think it's necessary to dub it with the latest hits? Just venting. The sky is not the limit. The ground is. The Society of Skydiving Ducks
  9. Do you really mean this canopy? You either forgot to update your profile or you tell us you jumped a high-end 9-cell canopy at less than 200 jumps? Wow. And yeah, it's similar to the Stiletto. The sky is not the limit. The ground is. The Society of Skydiving Ducks
  10. And I suspect it might be a loooong and louuud cry after femuring in? Such a small and aggressive canopy after a break of six years is just like switching from a bicycle to a 250 horsepower racing motorbike. But if you go for a 107 Katana, do not forget to mount a small video cam (better two) on your helmet. Seriously: Go for a canopy that you can ride in a calm conservative way but which also allows for looong swoop and sporty turns. How about a 149 Safire2 - you can trade it easily after 100 or 200 jumps, that one sells like sliced bread. Maybe a 139er after several dozens of training jumps on a hired canopy/rig but I wouldn't go any smaller. The sky is not the limit. The ground is. The Society of Skydiving Ducks
  11. As other pointed out before: No real chance. In Germany you either got to be a tandem pilot or certified tandem videot to do so or have 300+ RW jumps (with lotta briefing etc pp) Put it this waqy: Jump out right before your dad - load organizer should make this happen, have him watch you actually jump out (and be proud of you) and then let him enjoy his ride. He might even be too "busy" noticing you. Wouldn't be the first student looking right through the person flying in front of them... Howzat? The sky is not the limit. The ground is. 12. Must be ...unpleasant if you are up for a back-to-back. "Well, anyone can attend to this unconscious guy here? I got some work to do." Would not really be appreciated, I suppose I wonder if anyone who passed out turned up for a second jump? The sky is not the limit. The ground is. The Society of Skydiving Ducks
  13. Not only you. I something feel sort of envious when students tell me "I liked the tingling sensation in my tummy right after jumping out of the plane most" I still 'member this sensation from my 1st tandem but can't reproduce it any more. 14. No need to worry. You don't face the "height", it's like looking onto a model railway layout. When at the door, simply tilt your head back (your TI will love you for doing this on your own) - "ya got 50 s time to watch down, just allow yerself the luxury of watching the plane 'go away' by tilting yer head back as we exit" I usually tell my students. Way of exit depends on type of plane (sitting exit from a Skyvan ain't that practical, for example) and TI's preferences. I'd rather sit-exit from a DO28, for example. The sky is not the limit. 15. I thought your reply for induced by this line: "someone attempting to soar (ride updraft over a ridge)" Well... quite nice an idea. Cleavage soaring. Great sport, huh? The sky is not the limit. The ground is. The Society of Skydiving Ducks
  16. And if their girlfriend is just "c00l" she will upload the crash video on Facebook... Generation "only c00l when on the net!!!!11" The sky is not the limit. The ground is. The Society of Skydiving Ducks

  18. Women usually sh-ing you when they do not wanna be disturbed watching some women stuff on TV or something, but this one is soooo funny. Well, if it happened in bed, one should be a little confused, though The sky is not the limit. The ground is. The Society of Skydiving Ducks
  19. You're lesbian? SCNR! P.S.: Yeah, most boys are, I know. The sky is not the limit. The ground is. The Society of Skydiving Ducks
  20. Sorry girl, you are not allowed to jump... The sky is not the limit. The ground is. The Society of Skydiving Ducks
  21. Lineover with an EZ 384. Opening was a slammer, started spiraling instantly. Couldn't clear it, kissed it good-bye. Student didn't even notice. The sky is not the limit. The ground is. The Society of Skydiving Ducks
  22. I remember a video on skydivingmovies.com where a female student obviously achieved org right before exit. A comment read that she was dyke and thus it had nothing to do with the TI. Was quite a viral video, but haven't been able to find it in the wild. Might have got lost along with the website when it swirled down the loo. One of the TIs here suspected a lady had one some years ago... when they slid towards the door (sat behind co-pilot's seat, Caravan - long way...) No hard proof, though. (Panty check? ) The sky is not the limit. The ground is. The Society of Skydiving Ducks
  23. During my TI training the instructors just pretended to be unconscious but stuck to it even to dangling arms and legs while landing. Really tough guys, but I nevertheless was glad I got them down unhurt. Should have been more precise on that But as far as I see it it really seems guys are more prone to black out than girls. Maybe they don't dare to say anything about leg straps being too tight? Since guys also seem to be more prone to purging (under canopy) it might be an issue of circulation and/or metabolism. Or "maleness"? Yeah, spiral down the canopy, I can take it... hurgh..." The sky is not the limit. The ground is. The Society of Skydiving Ducks
  24. Heard on TV he did it as a favour for the mayor of the town on the small island. (Big ship sailing by with all lights on gotta be really impressive.) The sky is not the limit. The ground is. The Society of Skydiving Ducks
  25. Bowling. Erm... doesn't really go with your avatar? I'm confused. Obviously you're not a golfer... I'm not a golfer, indeed. But still not enlighted - Big Lebowski is a passionate bowler, so how come you say Ryoder doesn't need bowling? (He himself wrote sth about irony ) The sky is not the limit. The ground is.
