  1. No. But I found your next inflatable date, huhu The sky is not the limit. The ground is. The Society of Skydiving Ducks
  2. "The 48-year-old claimed he was 'really checking out' Sarah Palin, left, when he guarded her during the 2008 election campaign" Muhahahahahaha The sky is not the limit. The ground is. The Society of Skydiving Ducks
  3. Thanks for the story. Holy windsock! I like this exclamation
  4. This guy is really incredible and giving so much hope and motivation to others. Hope he can make the jump. Everything's gonna be OK I'm sure. The sky is not the limit. The ground is. The Society of Skydiving Ducks
  5. Voted other - Fighting to the very end doesn't allow for aiming. The sky is not the limit. The ground is. The Society of Skydiving Ducks
  6. The speak Russian. In the end the (driver, I suppose) said "Everything's normal, everything's OK" (Vsyo normalnye, vsyo charasho") The sky is not the limit. The ground is. The Society of Skydiving Ducks
  7. C'est fantastique. Et dangereux. Chapeau! The sky is not the limit. The ground is. The Society of Skydiving Ducks
  8. There have been tandem fatalities with tandem pilots who weren't trained properly or were grounded. This alone is a valid reason to say "NO" TI examiners know how to guide you through the course and how to teach you. Another reason. Third reason: If anything happens even if it wasn't your fault, even the worst lawyer will slash you. The sky is not the limit. The ground is. The Society of Skydiving Ducks
  9. Took me eight years to downsize to a CF2 129, loaded at about 1.6 I do not intend to downsize any further. As I do a lot of tandems now it's always sort of "wow" when I'm under my little toy. Only do 180's if the landing area is free (means when I'm last or something), took me couple canopy classes to learn how to do it hm... not too dangerously. ("Safe" and "Hook" don't go well with each other, huh?) A well-planned 90 will usually do or I just frontriser it for a nice turf surf. The sky is not the limit. The ground is. 10. Another one is: Point at the CYPRES display (OK, must be visible, huhu) and exclaim "Woo, your parachute is expired, zero jumps left on it! Doncha ever check ya gear?" Of course, only if student can take a little fun and only if you then explain what this display is good for The sky is not the limit. The ground is. The Society of Skydiving Ducks
  11. Not that you're speaking based on own experience... But right - if you make the student look like a twit they will hardly consider coming back. And that's what tandem skydiving was originally thought for. The sky is not the limit. The ground is. The Society of Skydiving Ducks
  12. WOW! Even in the Golden West? It was a nuisance during GDR times I was told. Well, I didn't qualify for a phone during GDR times (you had to apply for it...) but got one in 1990 - when we also belonged to the Golden West - but had to share it with someone who lived next door. They didn't phone much, their daughter wasn't in that age, so we rarely got the "engaged" signal. But I was quite relieved when we got our own line in ... hmm... 1995 or so? So that doesn't make me an old fart coz my son and my daughter can 'member this problem, too. P.S.: You're a really oooold fart when you 'member the times when girls in Utah married Young. 13. Every tandem student/guest is unique. We must never forget that we put ourselves in a situation that is potentially fatal. So you should never be surprised that students/guests show respective feelings. And each reaction is legitimate. A TI always should encourage their students and positively react to their feelings/reactions not only to put them into a positive light for their video but also to prevent worsening a situation where a student/guest might be shocked/afraid/feeling panicky. BTW: Pax without head protection (e. g. frap hat) is a no-go in Germany. The sky is not the limit. The ground is. The Society of Skydiving Ducks
  14. A jumper of our club recorded some of his jumps with external equipment for a programmable calculator. He found similar readings, but also that landing can result in short peaks of 5+ g and the same for jogging on the pavement. The sky is not the limit. The ground is. The Society of Skydiving Ducks
  15. That's true. Transgender kids who "passed" the judgements by the doctors specialising in this field are first given hormones to suppress puberty, often until the age of 16. No deeper voice, no Adam's apple, no facial nor pubic hair etc for boys. The longer this period the more they can grow. Then they are given female hormones which would - if given earlier - have an impact on their growth. Final stage is the OP. There's lotta stuff here for example. You may have a look at these videos (deal with transgender boys and girls) Kim Petras was the first transgender kid to have the final operation at age 16, in Germany. She's so beautiful and is a singer. She speaks English very well, might have a look at her Youtube channel. Ah speaking of singers: Don't forget Dana International. Look She even won the Eurovision Sonmg Contest for Israel
  16. We sometimes tell the students when asked if we do "that" for a living: Yeah strange, huh? The folks at the employment centre asked me if I like an easy job mainly sitting and dealing with folks now and then. So last week I was on the dole and now I'm a TI. P.S.: "This morning, I janitor." - Wasn't it "Dr Jan Itor?" The sky is not the limit. The ground is. The Society of Skydiving Ducks
  17. The website is well organised and provides support for a number of languages. The service is really excellent - you usually get an answer to an e-mail within minutes! The Basik rigs (esp. Seven) offer a number of features either unique or "top of shelf", e. g. the way line twists can be prevented or the easy-out reserve solution or a 4-ring system for tandems. I can only strongly recommend to have a look there if you are planning on buying a new rig. The sky is not the limit. The ground is. The Society of Skydiving Ducks

    Parachute

If you don't know the difference, you are not ready to do basejumping. It's this simple, really, if you want to grow old enough to tell your grandchildren about your juvenile adventures. No, even stricter: If you want to survive the first jump off a rock. (sarcasm on) But if you're gonna do it, do not forget to have three GoPros attached to be pried from your cold ... erm... (sarcasm off) The sky is not the limit. The ground is. The Society of Skydiving Ducks
  19. Check with me after a few hundred jumps.
  20. Congrats to your license! Looking forward to the respective Duck episode
  21. It probably belongs in the Old Farts thread but I remember 8" floppy disks. JerryBaumchen Wow, beats me. OTOH, we were years behind the US, so I can brag about having dealt with punchcards in 1985 :-) The sky is not the limit. The ground is. The Society of Skydiving Ducks
  22. I AM NOT ENVIOUS!!!!eleven Nothing better than blue sky and low winds and the dammit plane has an engine problem that keeps it and subsequently all the hungry skydivers on the ground. But heck, I can bitch about on the net at least and go for a walk with my missus so the weekend isn't completely spoiled And I found a nice video while surfing the net, enjoy. Your first car

Probably both. Made a good profit from buying it cheap in the "Zone" and selling it in the Golden West but only Neckermann lasted "Funniest" thing was you relatives in the Golden west could buy you a Trabi via "Genex" - for good Deutschmark - so you as a Zoni could skip the 15 years between placing the order and finally getting it. 24. Those of ya who still 'member what "floppy disk" means and actually worked with 5,25" disks will enjoy this special piece of art: Johann Sebastian Bach's famous Toccata OK, the headline doesn't really go with the music played but that's the price one has to pay for playing with words it seems.
