Ah, come on. We travelled Southern England this summer and were amazed how things have changed within just 7 years or so. I always was able to find "Friends" or something like that on the telly. And yeah, a great deal a shite as well. And prices have gone up, who would have guessed. But OTHO, menus in pubs provide a greater variety, you no longer need to look for Chinese, Indian, Italian restaurants etc - even in villages with only two pubs. As for the telly: Make sure it provides DVB-T (that's what your rooftop antenna is for), DVB-S (satellite dish for even more free shite? ) and if you want to burn some money on cable: DVB-C. A built-in receiver (or tuner if you like) comes much more handy than an external one. But if you want to stick with your external receiver, you don't need to watch for a "tuner" feature: built-in. Make sure you can connect the external receiver with a HDMI cable - SCART will not provide HD. The sky is not the limit. The ground is. The Society of Skydiving Ducks

Who was the Playboy Playmate on the month you were born?
Abedy replied to SpeedRacer's topic in The Bonfire
Ah, yes. Records weren't available in the GDR so I missed a lot - you simply had to put all resources on the one or two bands you favoured much. I was a devoted Beatles fan (though they had already split up when I was 10) I discovered Jimi in the late 70s, 80s but still couldn't get any records. Things have changed, however. Anyway, I liked the photo, especially the Snoopy cushion I wonder about the record - what band is it? And yeah, she looks dishy. The kind of girl I fell for in the 70s The sky is not the limit. German federal president Wulff - do Americans bother?
Abedy replied to Abedy's topic in Speakers Corner
When he was premier of the state of Lower Saxony (Niedersachsen) he got a home loan at a pretty low interest rate from the wife of an acquaintance of his who happened to be an entrepreneur. He then traded this loan for a loan from a state bank in Baden-Würtemberg, also at "special" interest rates. Nothing really that much scandalous but at the edge of legality or even infringing it. Being investigated by a committee of the state legislative assembly. AFAIK nothing that Americans don't expect of a politician. It's just that he is Federal President now and such an office requires that one maintains high standards. Thus the public interest... The sky is not the limit. The ground is. German federal president Wulff - do Americans bother?
Abedy replied to Abedy's topic in Speakers Corner
You're right so far. The Federal President thus ought to be a role model and moral authority. Not the average politician. The person who's really in power is the Federal Chancellor. That is why you know Angela Merkel, I suppose. If not: It's the lady Dubbya gave a shoulder massage at the G8 summit in Germany. The sky is not the limit. The ground is. German federal president Wulff - do Americans bother?
Abedy replied to Abedy's topic in Speakers Corner
Hard to do that, IMO. Try, and you pay a price. And so he does, and now even complains that the were "chasing him" (*) - good that, huh? (*) Even referred to it as "Stahlgewitter" (Storm of Steel) - a euphemism for war that is based on book of Ernst Jünger. The sky is not the limit. The ground is. The Society of Skydiving Ducks -
German federal president Wulff - do Americans bother?
Abedy replied to Abedy's topic in Speakers Corner
Sheriff Arpaio got a lot of coverage by so-called "Boulevard Magazines" on TV (Tabloid TV). They paid a lot of attention to the pink undies, well tabloid. The answers re Wulff so far are sort of comforting - at least he doesn't spoil the image of Germany any further in the US The sky is not the limit. The ground is. The Society of Skydiving Ducks -

She looked familiar and I looked her up at the IMDb - right: Magnum, P.I. "Autumn warrior", she was Marge there. Further search however revealed she died of a severe asthma attack. Yes, Pat's pic was linked to Mara on the Hungarian site. Here is Wikipedia's entry for Pat Sheehan and another nice pic of hers. And another quite nice pic of Mara. German federal president Wulff - do Americans bother?
Abedy replied to Abedy's topic in Speakers Corner
Not even his bullying the press is worth a raised eyebrow? I always had the idea that Americans uphold the idea of freedom of press/speech? Apart from that: I thought the Wulff affair doesn't really stir up emotions in the US. We still got to learn from your politicians, especially the Tea-Baggers, hum? The sky is not the limit. Mine: Nancy Nielsen I did some search but this one's the best (with some more pics) Sad that there isn't more information available about how her life got on after she appeared on Playboy. BTW: Wikipedia provides an up-to-date list of Playmates of the Month, who would have guessed. The Hungarian site ends with January 2004. The sky is not the limit. The ground is. Much has already been said. Just a thought: Go for it, yeah! And if you do, we're looking forward to another set of Duck Skydiving cartoons. Namowal, how about "The adventures of the Dutch Skydiving Duck"? Should be a great addition to the Alfred Kwak cartoons The sky is not the limit. The ground is. The Society of Skydiving Ducks

Your reaction was perfect, I guess his look was priceless. I only once had a guy whom I had to tell under canopy to please stop houching (I guessed he was preparing to spit out a really huge chunk of snot, bah.) This guy was one of the very few students that I had problems with - in fact I felt him disgusting because he behaved like a troglodyte on extra testosterone and was slimy-grimy-grubby, argl... Means: One of the very, very few occasions I felt like a prossie One ride was... well, let's tell: All of a sudden, at about 3000 m my goggles were covered with drops. I thought: WTH? There ain't no clouds, what's up? Tried to wipe my goggles which made things worse, they were kinda slimy then. Under canopy - I already suspected what had happened - I asked the guy. (It's always guy doing grimy things, bummer!) "Yeah man, I felt some pressure in my nose and just pressed it out!" he said. I should have wiped it on his face, but well... I told him what he had done, almost puked due to disgust because my face had also been sprinkled and right after landing I hurried to the washroom. Bah! The sky is not the limit. The ground is. Just stumbled upon an animated GIF. Puking seems to be part of the ride, whatever the ride. BTW: On our flight to Mallorca I collected the puke bags from my and my wife's seat pouches. The girl next to us looked surprised and also sort of "OMG, who steals puke bags?" My wife started to tell her that I am a skydiver, and wanted to explain further (TI, students might get sick...) but "skydiver" was already sufficient to the girl. She said "Well, then..." and handed me her bag as well Should be 'nuff for the next year, huh? Just kidding. The sky is not the limit. The ground is. The Society of Skydiving Ducks

Watch this and be en-lighted. BTW: Was a favourite series of my childhood days. Hmmm, Twardo must have been watching it as a grown-up? The sky is not the limit. The ground is. The Society of Skydiving Ducks

Tingling and numbness are symptoms you must not ignore, so it's necessary to see a specialist (better: several) who at least is open to get some insight into what skydiving (and canopy riding) really means. Have your spine MRI'ed of course. Building up muscles is a good idea. I underwent surgery due to a herniated disc at L5/S1 but got cleared for jumping after 6 months. (Winter season came handy, huhu.) The orthopaedist is also a specialist in sports medicine and cares for 2 teams here so he is open-minded and knows what it's about. I did a lot of physiotherapy and exercise; have done 1000+ jumps since and never had any more problems apart from the occasional small back pain due to muscle soreness etc. But everyone is a unique person, so have it examined by specialists.
