some of the phone functionality annoys me.. i have to use a headset for most things to be heard clearly unless i'm in a quiet room and the fact that its only dual band vs triband means it is less useful as a pure phone than my previous, but the PDA functions mean i dont have to drag my laptop everywhere i go.. so its got its pluses and minuses, I really like mine, but i might be getting a dedicated 'pure phone' still... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

There might be 30+ countries helping tha US, but WHAT PERCENTAGE of total troop involvment do they make? 30+ countried sound like a lot, but perentage-wise the US is there almost by itself. Anyone has the exact numbers ( % ) ??? It doesn't diminish the fact that there are countries there that do not normally send any kind of expeditionary force: Japan, Korea, Poland to name a few. twas a Star Trek, but we could easily do the same sort of Simulation Warfare now.. in fact we do daily when we arent really killing people... you sound very much like the spearman complaining that firearms are "immoral", "have no soul", "will never take the place of a soldier and his spear"... you are equally wrong, both about the morality (gun powder is just as 'immoral' to a foot soldier with a melee weapon) and about the level of technology we have available NOW... a real automated infantry will have the same effect on flesh and blood infantry as the introduction of tanks did.. except they will be 'driven' by human minds miles (if not hundreds of miles away) with access to intel, communications, sensors and realtime situational awareness unmatched by any current foot soldier. They will be able to engage, hunt down, and kill the enemy with no loss of life to the soldier controlling the weapon system. Sure, you may be able to harm it, and eventually incapacitate it, but while it can be repaired/rebuilt. You cannot be, and there will be thousands of them on the modern battlefield. i'm not asking for automatic deletion.. that wouldnt solve anything. I'm asking for an inclusion of a 'reply' function EVEN to those people who have selected to "block PMs". If you chose not to receive PMs at all, that is fine. However if you send one there should be an avenue by which the person you contacted is able to reply (once per PM would work) regardless of your PM settings, as you initiated the conversation.. the current implementation allows people to 'hide' behind the blocked PM function and yet send them out themselves... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

Adjusting to the Institution? WTF? He IS the institution.. the President completely defines his role in office and Congress serves the people.. If the people actually elected REAL leaders the "institutions' sould change as well.. Bush has yet to compromise on anything, nor is he able to build the kind of broad support a president needs to reach a real compromise or accomplish any sweeping change to a corrupt system. Its simply more of the same from the Repulicrates.. of course Powell is a leader not a politician so he simply isnt electable. this i think may be the core of the problem.. the judges may have no real idea of the difficulty of pulling off each series smoothly... one of the reasons i'd like to look into the judging criteria myself ... not that i'm that great of a freeflier, but i think i know enough to recognize when something is done well vs simply 'thrown out' but where will i find the time??? ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

I disagree totally. Usually the prettier it is, the more technically challenging it is. Take a look at how many Olympic sports have subjective scoring (figure skating, gymnastics, freestyle skiing/snowboarding, diving, synchro swimming, etc.). It would be a difficult argument to make that any of these sports are fading away or that they are just about being pretty. I don't think it's the subjectivity that's the issue. It's the consistency in the subjectivity that's the issue. I completely agree.. something that is lacking from many of the Nationals video's ive seen is grace.. for me its not simply about the move itself, but the grace with which it is performed.... but i agree while subjectivity is a tricky thing, the issue is CONSISTENT subjectivity.. an ‘easy’ moved performed perfectly is much more impressive IMO than a difficult move performed poorly (even when both moves are accomplished) the idea (for my way of thinking) is to make everything look effortless. reguardless of how hard it really is... there should be clear divisions between speed rounds and the more artistic 'graceful' maneuvers. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

sure it would.. simply add a counter so that you HAVE to receive one PM from every person you send one too... allows two way communication that can be terminated by the 'initiator' simply by not responding to their response... either that or do not allow those who have blocked PMs to send PMs... one way communication sucks... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
