"progressing too far too fast" is entirely related to success or failure. no. There are more incidents because there are more skydivers and more skydives per year not because AADs exist. Although safety advances to ALL aspects of skydiving equipment is a prime reason why there are more skydivers and more skydives, AAD usage is not the prime cause for what may have been more low/no pull fatalities.. 150 possible low/no pulls out of how many jumps/jumpers in that time range? Even people who "(ex-army) who really knew what they were doing" have fucked up and gone in.. loss of awareness is not always a failure of training.. i've had both world class training from military and civilian instructors, but you are making a huge leap to state that the quality of instruction might be lacking simply because the instructors were civilians. 'Professionalism' isnt directly related to military service. If a DZO requires AADs that is their choice. perhaps your perspective on religious observances as practiced by others is 'full of shit', or maybe you simply cant understand that Religion is many things to many different people.. there is a great deal of leeway between Religion and Organized Religion. because others find God where you may not does not make them 'full of shit' even if you dont believe them... one could just as easily say those who participate in organized religious observations in traditional structures are 'full of shit' because they do not appreciate the real work of God while huddled in their buildings singing terrible hymns..... you are taking a VERY liberal definition of the word 'FACTS'. there are very few facts that support ANY religious belief, and you will continue to lose any argument in which you assert your belief as 'FACT' a 'Fact' can be proven. its not that it is a criminal activity per se but that it has elements of a criminal nature, as does graffiti..and there certainly more similarities between the two activities than legality.... when it comes right down to it everyone is a criminal whenever they break any law at all. Camera and video affects everything.. it brings experience and documents events in a manner like nothing else before it. This vastly contributes to the collection and dispersion of information and eventually knowledge. Mediation isnt really a bad thing even if it has detrimental effects to some aspects of what was primarily a mentor based activity... Even this board is a form of mediation, and it would be equally valid to study the effects of the 'internet' on 'BASE' as it is video.. These are all elements of the activity. my first 22 were no alti.. military static lines and i've done maybe 10 jumps since without (some with more intention than others) it is a tool, not a requirement... i like tools. they help me to do things i cant do on my own... better instruments SHOULD equal better awareness... definitely.. 4 way has the most consistent fall rates of anyone... that makes it for a much more calibrated internal clock than the sometimes continual fall rate changes in freeflying.. particularly when jumping with new people and with those just learning ff... one of the scarier things sights while ff was HD chasing an Anvil in a sit, and not recognizing how fast we were going... seeing 3000 while still HD wasnt a very bright moment..... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
