  1. that pretty much sums it up... golf is a game, not a sport... while those with better athletic abilities will do better at nearly anything, simply playing golf doesnt make you an 'athlete' ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
  2. WOW! if i ever ponder jumping at Skydive Toledo someone please remind me about this thread... you can have whatever 'philosophy' you'd like about anything.. however ignoring basic physics in favor of your 'philosophy' simply puts jumpers at an unnessesary risk.. if you cant accept the fundamentals of physics and follow a system that minimizes the risks by observing them and human behavior.. well.. but i guess it's a good thing Skydive Toledo is so tiny.. otherwise we'd likely be hearing more about it in the Incidents forum.. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
  3. not that we couldnt use a few more 'personality' covers, but it would be nice if the actual quality of the photo... (composition, originality etc.) mattered more than who took it or who was in it.... Skydiving publishes much better photos more often than Parachutist imo.. ps.. this one is rather interesting too... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
  4. only the first 80k is tax free for civilians, and you have to spend 330 day consecutively in a 'combat zone' ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
  5. very few 'olympic baseballers' make it in the MLB... the standard of play and average ability level is MUCH higher.. so far all you have listed are simple 'single skill' sports... requiring little more than simple precise repeition of the same action... sure they may be highly trained, fit athletes, but their focus is still on one very specific action over and over... in this regard baseball has more in common with golf.. it requires a MUCH wider skill set (as well as top level athletic abilities) to be competitive at a professional level... (well except maybe American League pitcher and DHs ) back at cha.. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
  6. i guess you've met alot of professional baseball players then? i know they tour regularly thru AUS again you dont know what the fuck you are talking about... maybe you should come out to one of the spring training 'dream' camps sometime.. see how you feel after day 2.. all of those 'skills' (by your definition EVERY activity a human can perform is 'a skill' so what??) require a great deal of athletic prowess to perform, if you think that what you see in MLB games everyday is 'average athletics' you are sadly mistaken.. hell i'd like to see you consistently throw a 40 mph baseball on target (strike zone)...then watch while a 12 year old can hit it.. every MPH faster requires a great deal of training and conditioning, both on the part of the hitter to adjust to and the pitcher to deliver... a proper pitch is a VERY difficult thing to do consistently.. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
  7. tell you what, i've got a radar gun.. lets see you throw say... 60mph.. and keep it even in a mansized tgt area, much less an ever changing strike zone.. how fast can you run 50m? can you stop on a dime? how about actually hit a real home run? do you believe you even have the visual acuity to pick up a 90mph (slow in ML terms) fastball, better yet see and react to one thats moving closer to 120mph right at you and catch it?? can you catch a deep fly ball (at a full sprint no less) and throw it all the way to home in one motion?? you dont know what the fuck you are talking about.... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
  8. nope.. wasnt GOOD beer... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
  9. you know reading is fundamental.. reading for comprehension more so.. i personally believe you should never kill anyone who isnt like armed and isnt looking you in the eyes equally prepared to kill you... unfortunately any sort of peer based warfare/combat went away loooong ago.... the 'rules' changed right around the time gunpowder was invented.. my grand mother (rip) was once one of the best shots of her generation and would have never been considered a combatant or a warrior... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
  10. lets not forget fucking with your squalling brat who's safely strapped in the rear child seat screaming like an airraid siren.... nearly got killed by a pre-soccer mom in her mini van who was to busy turned around in the driver seat to pay attention to the double lane change she suddenly made.. lets BAN children under the age of 12 from all motorized vehicles unless there is another adult to control them.. its obviously to distracting for the driver.. can you say "slipperly slope"?? ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
  11. baseball is FAR from 'mostly mental'. While the mental component is very important between peer athletes. anyone who isnt at the same leve in training and general physical ability, is simply non competitive no matter what their 'mental game' the same cannot be said of golfers who (unless they carry their own clubs the entire course) expend very little (comparatively) actual energy in the performance of their game.. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
  12. I don't think you should kill anyone unless you are in danger of being killed. while i agree with you on a philosophical level, that stopped being important shortly after effective firearms were invented... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

  16. you've forgotten the classic... fuck her in the ass without asking first, when your done, get up, wipe yourself on her curtains and steal her purse on the way out... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
  17. iirc i was 4 or 5 when i read them the first time.. and had not yet been subjected to Christian dogma... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
  18. well that was in response to this but you are right, my mood has changed and so should my avatar.... thanks Lisa! ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

  20. rotf... had to look that one up... and i thought WE were evil about some of out political nicknames... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
  21. hence the reference to "bambo log" .. but thats like 4 down on the common usage list and is considered archaic... if someone said to you "we are building a raft" or "we are rafting" what is the first thing that comes to mind? THAT is what makes it funny.... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
  22. Dawn Treader and Horse and his Boy are tied for me.... I really loved the books, and still wished someone hadnt pointed out all the Christian symbology.. i was less aware of such things when i originally read them and its hard to reread them now without feeling the edge of that lead pipe... I much preferred associating them with my 'innate' symbology instead ... even though C.S Lewis was the one that 're-ordered' cronologically IMO the story tells itself better in the original order... they did the same thing to Susan Cooper's The Dark is Rising Sequence but the first two (cronologically) are simply not as good, and you dont care about the characters as much yet, so the 'original order' is a better read as well.. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
  23. what is really funny is its in the text too.... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
  24. no the burden of proof falls on those who make absolute statements positive or negative.. your simply avoiding the fact that you have just as little evidence to support your assertion as those who claim he DOES exist.. nor you did not take the position of 'a skeptic' you made the assertion "Gods do NOT exist" ps.. when you so blatantly plagiarize from another source its nice to add quotes..... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
  25. this applies equally to those who claim there "is not a God" ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
