    perhaps it might not be obvious, but a large number of people have followed what is considered (on DZ.com) a very aggressive canopy progression without incident or comment.. its the failures that get the attention.. the successes are ignored and unremarked, and yet some propose regulation based solely on the more spectacular and more obvious failures... its what happens when you lack real data..... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

    ever been in the military? cheating IS rampant... hell if you've ever been to Hood, just look for the Tide box in the window when the Division is deployed/in the field... it has more to do with the AGE most service members get married at, but add lack of attention due to spouses being away continually (lately) and you'll begin recognize there is ALWAYS more going on than even the rumor mill reports... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

    So then, care to engage in a detailed discussion of the tenets of Islam? Buddhism? Shinto? Hinduism? Judaism? (not to mention all the 'dead religions') Ever, been to any of their houses of worship? religious ceremonies? participated in their rituals? studied their belief at all? when you have actually experienced a bit more of humanity's sum total perception of God and Divinity you'll have a real basis for whatever belief you chose.... but right now you are the child that knows they like apple pie...and nothing more... 'born-agains' are really more annoying than anyone else, as they generally have only the slightest hint of the depth of world religion (or more importantly Mankind's experience with Divinity) but are completely ready to claim, and claim loudly Sole Truth and Knowledge even in the face of their own ignorance... break your vase..... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

    yes, and no.. because you returned to your core belief does not mean everyone returns to your core belief.. i've been 'near death' several times.. i'm not afraid of it, and while I'm not in any hurry, I am looking forward to it, in the same way i look forward to seeing what is on the other side of any mountain.. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

    this is a common misconception and one often repeated by Christians who simply assume that atheists really do believe in their God.. guess what? They dont.. they really do believe there is no God at all, and are just as firmly convinced of their beliefs as any Christian i've ever met... in addition there is a significant portion of humanity who have, and will continue to have, completely different thoughts at the moment of death than those you imagine... including "well this will be interesting..." one of the most difficult steps to self development (particularly as a 'true believer') is to set your preconceptions aside and examine the world 'outside' (without the filter you have been unconsciously wearing most of your life) of your immediate experience and existing beliefs... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

    not at all. i agree with RL.. It is more entertainment than anything else. Rarely does any thread or topic reaches the level of 'debate' Debate requires a (some what) informed opinion by all participants... most of the time, 'discussion' in the SC is similar to explaining the taste of 'Pumpkin Pie' to a child who has never seen a Pumpkin. He LOVES 'Apple Pie' (has never seen an apple either, but dont point that out you might hurt someone's feelings..), refuses to believe that such a thing called 'Pumpkin Pie' exists at all and even if it did if could never be as good or tasty to ANYONE ELSE as Apple Pie is to them... but who knows.. maybe two lurkers have been inspired to learn more about something new, something outside their personal experience, and have attempted to educate themselves beyond their cultural indoctrination... one can always hope.... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
