lately i've been listening to Wolfsheim while at the gym (which i really need to get back to more regularly.... they're a german techno dance band..Spectators was a good album, but i prefer the dance remixes also..there are some Garabage remixes that really pick up the heart rate.. Alien Sex Fiend comes to mind...(since i just heard it lol) ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

jodie = short for 'jodie calls' = military cadence... not bad for rythm running (formations and stuff) but if your stepping it out they dont work so well..and they are rather repetative... realized last week, he really needs new running shoes.....grrr ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

Swooping in the World Games and Olympics
Zenister replied to listo's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
..Bill, you make a very strong argument for why democracy sucks..every opinion counts as much as any other, no matter how ignorant the individual holding it. Government from the couch.. i would love to see skydiving get more exposure (and therefore more sponsorship) but not at the cost of greater regulation by wuffos. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed. -

i would hope it is more a an 'in addition to' as it is with nearly everything asked about skydiving. a forum is just another means of getting information and so why not ask?? ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

which not to drag the topic to far off is the basis for all good science fiction (note there is a difference between sci-fi and science fiction). Take any human experience, idea, or event and extrapolate it to an extreme conclusion (time, space etc) or circumstance so it can be examined at from a less involved and hopefully more objective angle.. good science fiction (or any literature actually) is about challenging the viewer to think beyond their box.. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

that would be "democracy in action", where everyones voice gets heard and heeded to the exent their veiw can be expoited for political or financial gain, no matter how ignorant or unenlightned the opinion or the real effects on others lives. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

my room mate had my gear shipped up to me in Seattle i check my altimeter says 10k. idid it really 10 k and to zero it i turn it down (9,8,7)? or did it only lose 2k from its last zero at eloy? and so is -2 ?? i know it went by air to get to me so i'm thinking there isnt really any way to tell when the change occurred which direction it was is there? so how do i know which way to zero it? feels like this is a stupid question for some reason.and funny that altimeter isnt in the dictionary.. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

actually i've seen several ground cutaways for tandems. there was a TM at eloy who was infamous for chopping if the snaggers werent right there...you could hear the screams of the packers from freefall ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

yeah learning restraint is the hardest part of jazz i think...all the metal influence drove our director nuts in college, the drummer and i actually snuck in pieces of rush, metallica and slayer tunes in our solos during the senior recital.. i prowl pawn shops for a cheap fluegelhorn (wishful thinking) from time to time, but i never played one, and havent even touched a trumpet since junior high (a year and a half) then went to tenor/bari sax and finally bass in high school and college..of course i havent really played anything since i joined the army 8 years ago.. i'm actually thinking of picking the sax up again..Dana Colley (morphine & the twinemen) is AMAZING..and as i discovered when i followed them for a while, amplified saxophone vibrates the air and makes women just melt ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

you know i've got an army disaster preparedness manual from the early 60's that shows how to build a bombshelter in your basement.. poor dad with the hand crank air pump.. 'please daddy youve got to keep turning the crank... i cant breath' the measures it actually suggests are so ineffective that the whole thing is pure comedy.. i'll have to scan it next time i'm home so you guys can see it.. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

i guess it depends on where you approach jazz from, yeah if they were getting into it from the hipster coffee house resergence then yeah it might take a bit before they get to MF (if they ever do) ive moved away from the big band scene mostly too...although your right most white jazz greats are really under recognized in the new 'cool' scene.. but i cant imagine anyone who ever played in any high school brass section not knowing who he is.. ----------------- hey mon can you play fluegelhorn? ive had a piece i wrote in college that needed one for a loooong time, and it one of my all time favorite sounds..(well right behind the big bass saxophone.. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

yeah dave were all musically illiterate skydivers.. and i dont have nearly 300 cds of mile davis, john coltrane, chick corea, count basie, charlie parker...etc, either... double C?! thats impressive. there was a guy in my jazz band in college that played around there regularly, unfortunately he was a colossal prick and never wanted to jam with us progressive types.. super glue in his carmex was a good remedy for that btw i'm just fucking with you..but i think you underestimate skydivers in general, i was quite amazed at the range of experience and knowledge i met at eloy alone.. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

just saw a commercial (for a drug company but) where a woman was using a parachute to pull her along on cross country skis. is this a common method of ski travel over flat terrain? what kind of harnesses and canopies do they use? it looked like it might be a pretty efficient method of travel assuming your going downwind.. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
