actually i was told that particular report was a case of a reporter talking to ONE soldier who said he only got 1 MRE the day before, of course given the need for each reporter to "out do" each other in getting the scoop.. as someone else pointed out these guys have a really skewed perspective of military action..the report about marines being "pinned down in a heavy firefight" was laughed at in the toc i was just in.. sure its intense, but nothing about that particular video was a "heavy fire fight" nbor were the marines "lounging" around against the walls there by any means "pinned down" ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

Wednesday March 19, 2003 From: http://tv.yahoo.com/news/wwn/20030319/104808600007.html? By CHAD KULTGEN NEW YORK -- Federal investigators have arrested an enigmatic Wall Street wiz on insider-trading charges -- and incredibly, he claims to be a time-traveler from the year 2256! Sources at the Security and Exchange Commission confirm that 44-year-old Andrew Carlssin offered the bizarre explanation for his uncanny success in the stock market after being led off in handcuffs on January 28. "We don't believe this guy's story -- he's either a lunatic or a pathological liar," says an SEC insider. "But the fact is, with an initial investment of only $800, in two weeks' time he had a portfolio valued at over $350 million. Every trade he made capitalized on unexpected business developments, which simply can't be pure luck. "The only way he could pull it off is with illegal inside information. He's going to sit in a jail cell on Rikers Island until he agrees to give up his sources." The past year of nose-diving stock prices has left most investors crying in their beer. So when Carlssin made a flurry of 126 high-risk trades and came out the winner every time, it raised the eyebrows of Wall Street watchdogs. "If a company's stock rose due to a merger or technological breakthrough that was supposed to be secret, Mr. Carlssin somehow knew about it in advance," says the SEC source close to the hush-hush, ongoing investigation. When investigators hauled Carlssin in for questioning, they got more than they bargained for: A mind-boggling four-hour confession. Carlssin declared that he had traveled back in time from over 200 years in the future, when it is common knowledge that our era experienced one of the worst stock plunges in history. Yet anyone armed with knowledge of the handful of stocks destined to go through the roof could make a fortune. "It was just too tempting to resist," Carlssin allegedly said in his videotaped confession. "I had planned to make it look natural, you know, lose a little here and there so it doesn't look too perfect. But I just got caught in the moment." In a bid for leniency, Carlssin has reportedly offered to divulge "historical facts" such as the whereabouts of Osama Bin Laden and a cure for AIDS. All he wants is to be allowed to return to the future in his "time craft." However, he refuses to reveal the location of the machine or discuss how it works, supposedly out of fear the technology could "fall into the wrong hands." Officials are quite confident the "time-traveler's" claims are bogus. Yet the SEC source admits, "No one can find any record of any Andrew Carlssin existing anywhere before December 2002." Weekly World News will continue to follow this story as it unfolds. Keep watching for further developments. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

lol i did, and your exactly right Rummy has ignored one of the fundamental principles. "let your generals do their job" youd think after vietnam we'd have learned that politicians should just set the objectives, not the manner in which they are taken.. a few pertinent qoutes theres lots more in there, even some that apply better to Saddam than us..such as ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

since we're on the subject, another driving rant... "object fixation" when the guy behind you rides your ass, until he's real close, then decides to go around..once around he realizes that we've been going 90 (on cruise control) for the last 50 miles and he really doesnt want to go that fast, so of course i have to go around him again..all the time i havent touched a pedal.. makes me want to launch pennies off my front winshield at them once i get back in front... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

i would just make the driving test LOTS more involved so it was something that you had to learn to do well before you were allowed to and all those who couldnt meet the standard had to take the bus.. of course since the oil companies control our govt (to a large extent, not trying to get political here but) we have a shitty public transportation system and its damn near a right to have 2.5 cars per person, so that will never happen ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

Have you ever gone low unintentionally?
Zenister replied to jerry81's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
i find the "de-arch" to be natural when i roll my shoulders forward to cup air..as tall as V is it should work pretty much the same.. i say this because when i tried to de-arch initially while learning to track i flipped over into what became (once i really learned how) the way for me to start a nice back track.... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed. -

well at Eloy they skipped the whole PLF instruction part for me and said OK right away when i i said i wanted AFF vs AFP (ive seen them be pretty adamant with some people since too) but otherwise no..in fact they wont accept my water training (and i went thru the week long aircrew water survival even) either so i've got to flop in the pool/pond before i get my D ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed. -
yeah thats got to be the worst fault ive seen so far for WA drivers...the really stupid thing is there are signs every where that say "slower traffic move right" people seem to think just beacuse they are travelling at the top end of the limit they must be going fast... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

about time! but of course just like min speed laws the likely hood of enforcement is rather low.. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
