they are pretty big..somewhere i have a picture of one larger than that, we kept it in a spare faraday shield we had you'd have to know the size of the shield to figure out the size of the spider so i sent it to the engineers in Scottsdale as a teaser... their front legs are so long they have to lift them to run..this one came out one night during maintainer training and ran straight at the NCO teaching...he only caught it out of the corner of his eye and jumped about 10 feet.. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

Should parents be allowed to pierce their babies' ears?
Zenister replied to lewmonst's topic in Speakers Corner
Not for the baby. dont you know? babies have no personal preferences..not until they are 18.. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed. -
and next assuming that it was ordered by a higher consciousness why does that immediately imply (to many) that consciousness calls itself Yahweh? There are an infinite number of other choices as well. Including those who have no interest in humanity or its worship whatsoever. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

jawa bone of an ass anyone? weapon of mass destruction for biblical times... nearly every religion has done the same at one point or another all claiming "its God's will" to kill the unbelievers... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

[replyThis all comes together in our Easter customs in the pagan tradition of Oestre (Estre), the Goddess of Spring, etc. In that pagan story, there was a great bird who intensely desired to be a rabbit. The Goddess Oestre (Estre) graciously turned the bird into a rabbit, and in gratitude the rabbit (who could still remember how to lay bird eggs) came each Spring, during the Festival of Oestre (Estre), and laid beautiful eggs for the benevolent goddess. This is exactly how we got a supernaural, egg-laying rabbit god in our Easter tradition. and a little farther back than, that look up Istarte ( or Inanna) for a much older resurrection mythos than the christians, in fact if your really interested you'll find that a large majority of the ideas and mythos (both OT and NT) claimed by the christians came from other religions originally.. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

actually science has come a long way to doing just that. I'll dig out the exact reference when i find it again Test have shown that primates understand the concept of 'fairness' 2 groups of monkeys were given treats for a programmed behavior, when the second group was given a tastier treat (a grape iirc) the first group 'rebelled' and would throw their less tasty choice (peanuts?) back at the researchers. also as part of the same study the monkeys were being fed in an separate enclosure, when researchers withheld food until all the group was inside the enclosure the monkeys punished and beat the stragglers from the previous day when the food enclosure was opened. Morality comes from society, and is reinforced by claiming it comes from a 'higher power' if the reverse were true all societies would have the same morals.. unless of course they were each created by separate higher powers.. also for the record most agnostics will tell you the crux of their belief is that the nature of god is unknowable. It says nothing about the existence of divinity. I haven’t met an agnostic yet who leaned toward the idea that there was not a divine force behind creation. They just dont assume that man (or his literature) is capable of defining it. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

actually it becomes a lateral (much closer to a back roll) as you begin in the same manner you would PLF (forward speed certainly helps) for me, the roll is more instinctive (and more efficient) than a straight PLF... its not a mat slapping 'fall' at all... its far easier to demonstrate than to explain in words... ps. as you get more comfortable with your rolls and falls in the dojo you'll find its often more fun to be the aggressor, particularly with larger/advanced akidokai using full speed and power... wwwwhhhhheeeeeeeeee!! needs to get his ass back into the dojo himself... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

how many of yall have intentionally stalled a canopy
Zenister replied to TribalTalon's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Saw some vid of he and Dusty Smith doing this at eloy....completely off the hook...you've got to be good to keep a canopy that small from tying itself into a knot while doing that.... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed. -
or aikido... I think i'd have alot more broken things if i hadnt learned to roll at a young age, although i probably wouldnt have jumped from so many moving objects/high places (and my mother would have less grey hair) either if i didnt trust my ability to do it without injury.......in fact i had to de-learn my falls to 'properly' PLF in jump school....good training, but IME a good roll dissipates energy much better than a standard PLF...the only problem is you do end up rolling thru your lines if you’ve got a lot of energy...... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

Learning here and learning at the real DZ...
Zenister replied to Liemberg's topic in Safety and Training
for most skydiving tasks there is very little that can compare to hands on training and experience... however this site holds a such wide range of knowledge and experience from all aspects of the sport rarely found at any DZ at one time (even Eloy, Perris etc..) and additional information is always a good thing, but its up to the individual to weight the source and context of that information... i was actually told to wait for the 45 deg angle by a very experienced skydiver at Eloy recently.... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed. -
I know someone who manifests himself for loads 1, 3, 5 and so on at the start of the day and packs all his own gear. That gives him about 25 minutes to pack the main and get back out to flightline. Personally I can't justify adding an extra 1/3 to the cost of my jump, just because I can't be bothered to pack my own. well i was averaging 9 jumps a day my last trip at eloy, with less than 20 min between calls when i landed....sure i could have packed (if my skills were up to that speed) however i would have been slammed by the end of day one (11 jumps)....and i did nearly 40 jumps in 4 days... do you think you can keep that pace?? for how long? and what is your quality of focus for each dive when your more worried about your pack job/time than the dive itself?? you can spend your time, money andd energy anyway you wish I prefer to focus it on the dive itself and not on the 'housekeeping'.... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

nioce!!! wish i didnt have to leave before the jumps that looked like fun... got any footage of the locals 'playing' in the slime afterwards?? ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

everytime this comes up it seems like people accuse those of us who use packers regularly of "not knowing how to pack". I can pack. i've even done it a few times in the last hundred jumps or so . I chose not to because i'm not that fast (i would certainly get faster if i worked at it but, but i doubt i'd ever be as fast as fred is and he rocks!!), it is the least enjoyable part of the skydive experience, and i simply cant jump as often in a day packing my own as i can if i pay a packer... its a personal choice. for me it comes down to time or money, and I care far more about the time than the green pieces of paper it takes to hire a competent packer.. its still every jumpers responsiblity to inspect their own gear and i have no idea how someone who cant pack at all does that..... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

Flex Z's are the way to go.. I loved my zorz until I lost them twice in two days during HD dives..i had them tightened as far as they would go and they still grabbed to much air once and pulled off once and let enough air in to pop a contact out on another dive... they Flex Zs might only last a hundred jumps or so, but they are cheap enough to replace easily when they do.... there is little worse than being taken out of a kickin dive by your own gear.... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

Trevor and I tried this way to fast but right before break off Brandon found a perfect spot and we got it..... thanks for all the dives Trevor! ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

and everywhere else for that matter. God loves it when you play, its an expression of love and joy in creation..why waste your breath talking about it when you can drink from the fountain instead?? start to tell me how i'm a sinner and damned to your hell and we have issues.... worship his creation in anyway you wish, but your going to get alot more than 'shunned' if you try to lay your mythos on me, or make me feel in anyway guilty or wrong for worshiping God as i do. I hear the voice of God everyday. I dont need anyone else telling me what she's 'really' saying... but you can certainly ask if your interested........ ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

no worries at all in the right context...had a good friend we suprised on her b-day by being nude and ready to party when she came in from work...all 20 of us... the look on her face was priceless and she was nude to before she reached the kitchen... of course various spring rituals always seem to end up that way too... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
