yes absolutely...ive been all around the world several times... but the majority of it is work related and that leaves little time to enjoy most places..and really really puts a crimp in the social life... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

Slowest fall rate whilst tracking
Zenister replied to Skylark's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
i've got one with a 74mph average, but that was a sidebody 2way track...was amazing the 'lift' feeling when we docked and de-arched together... my usual low end track in in the low 80's but you'll never do that in most tracking dives where the point is to stay together, not zip off away.. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed. -
I think I'm the only person who really didn't care for Stranger in a Strange Land i wasnt impressed with the original release, but i think the reissue reads much better...still its not in my top 5 Heinlein's either way... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

WHAT and not the TWINS??? well yes occasionally (would be a lovely way to die...) but they really arent as well defined personalities...and prevailing attitude is a huge part of the attraction to redheads..i've always wondered how many he really knew as there are certainly some characteristics that consistantly stand out... damn fine book..much more developed plotlines and characters than ST but you can really see the influence, and while the social messages are still there, the 'pipe' is wrapped far better...) i cant count the number of things 'the engine' mentality has carried me thru in life.... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

QuoteWhat's your favorite Heinlein book? Quote Time Enough for Love. although The Moon is a harsh Mistress is way up there too..as is To Sail Beyond the Sunset i'll probably read this one when i get a chance, but honestly his juvenilia is far to 'preachy'..it took him a while to learn that the message shouldn’t be beaten into your head with a lead fist only slightly wrapped in a good story.. i've honestly wondered how much Heinlein is responsible for my inordinate attraction to redheads..still has fantasies about Maureen... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

sure they are. they may not be aware of the consequences of what they do, and that should be considered in sentencing (although the overall threat and expense to society should be considered as well) but they are totally responsible for what they do, ignorance is no excuse.. if you turn downwind because you were unaware of which way the wind was actually blowing..who is responsible for your injuries?? the wind? ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

A MINOR has no capacity (under the law or otherwise) to fully cognizantly, and rationally make those decisions. Nor should ANY reasonably responsible adult (parent or not) have the audacity, nor do they truely have the capacity to simply waiver that away either. Trading that off for the sole benefit of potentially head-start "grooming the next workd champion"?? ...TOTALLY NEGLIGENT, and not reasonable by any stretch, IMHO. modern sensibilities 'protect' children from the realities of life, often leading to adults who are simply larger children with no real understanding of the world either.. wasnt that long ago that a 13 year old was considered the 'man' of the house and expected to defend, go off to war, and work to support the family you may chose to keep your kids in helmets and leashes all their life till they are no longer your legal responsibility, however dont expect everyone else to adopt the same shortsighted attitude about how to raise theirs.. i guess everyone skips page III of the SIM too?? You may decide that you or your children are not ready for certain aspects and risks in life, however that does not make it true for anyone but you and yours. If you wouldnt want anyone else telling you what activities your family can participate in (no matter how reasonable or unreasonable they might seem to you) then you shouldn’t be condemning someone else for exercising the same rights. a child drowns on a rafting trip? 10 years old is too young to be rafting!!! a child breaks both legs snowboarding? he shouldn’t have been on the slopes!! a child falls off his bike and get a concussion? helmets should be mandatory!!! falls off the swing and breaks an arm? swings are dangerous!! they should be removed!! etc ad infinuim.... everyone is so ready to scream "that shouldn’t be allowed!!!" that soon enough no child will be legally allowed out of bed without full helmets and padded suits to keep the real world at bay... the lack of swings and merry-go rounds on many 'modern' playgrounds is the direct result of this ignorant, invasive attitude in American culture. So much for life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness…happiness might be dangerous…cant have that… ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

not so sure evidence backs that statement, but it would be a less literate place. Q: His canopy (drugged, drug, dragged) him across the landing area? Q: Jack went over to Jill's house to get (lain, lied, laid)? ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

Does a fishing net count? How about rocks? how about a baseball bat? what kind of melee weapons are you asking about? net? no not really, unless you clubbed whatever it was with it... rocks, baseball bat? sure... deliberate physical act with the intent to end a life..although you could split hairs about bugs/mice etc..they usually carry the same connotations, or cause the same attachments in most people.... and I should have specified cases where your life was at some risk as well...killing a rabbit or a chicken or even a cow as a farm function is significant (and something most of the population will never do) but isnt the same as putting yourself in 'harm's way'. Although it could be argued its more difficult to do so without the adrenalin kick…I wouldn’t know I never grew up on a farm really… ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

hmmm that will take a bit, as i'm rather busy lately...but i think i've got some good slides that illustrate PRT, PRF, resolution, range bins and update rates pretty well...I'll have to build some good ones on radar cross sections and shadow...as those are the most important two things to think about from a 'avoiding speed traps point of view.... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

nope not upset about it at all, I’m just a pretty confrontational person period, and btw, its still on the books, call the court house in Montgomery and ask. i was replying to your point but its not directed at you specifically, doing something with a premanufactured tool, powered by a chemical process most dont really understand and could never recreate on their own is a far different thing than killing at a range where the scent of blood will stain you forever... yes several, mountain lions in Nevada and Oregon, Tigers in India (twice), and panther spore and tracks less than a hundred yards from our camp site in Florida (still pissed that we didnt see her..) and I still give a significant portion of my income to help protect the few tigers that remain in the wild. I've also been inside the habitats in several zoos and was lucky enough to be present at the birth of two Sumatran tigers in Atlanta. (I was dating a girl who worked there when she got the call) yes bears (brown and grizzly) are fairly common in the backcountry in WA and OR. When you do run across them its an incredible (and incredibly frightening if you realize how easy they can kill you if they felt you were a threat) experience. yes i've been bowhunting since i was 14 (not melee per se but a weapon powered by energy i created and stalking, not this bait and tree stand bullshit that really isnt hunting at all,) and boar hunting (yes, with a spear) in the Appalachian Mountains several summers during high school. not to mention the three duels i was stupid enough to get in in college. (no deaths (thank god) but more blood than you'd expect from relatively 'minor' wounds) completely unarmed? against an aggressive predator with better weaponry and a lifetime of training using it (lions, tigers, bears oh my..)?? absolutely...attitude and actions will determine if they will attack you, however once they do 98.9 of the population is simply meat... most 'hunters' do it with firearms from tree stands and blinds on established routes, ...your life is never in any danger at all, and the animals are so accustomed to the route and regular presence of humans.....that’s not hunting, that’s simply fishing. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

yup, but take away the gun (that you dont even know how to make ammo for on your own in most cases, much less manufacture on your own.....) and your just a hairless monkey who cant climb very well or run very fast.... ie prey. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
