i just found this in my email inbox. I rarely use the email here (mostly for skydiving related sign ups etc..) and certainly didnt send anything on the 8th when i was laid up in the hospital after my accident.. is this something you can/need to look into? ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

i think my post might be the one your refering to... essentially i was told that by letting up one riser coming out of the turn and pulling down the other you were distorting your canopy which could lead to the nose rolling (?) as long as you could pull the opposite riser (from the one you were turning with) down evenly without letting up pressure on the other it wasnt an issue, but that with many canopies the pressure would be to great at that point to even them out?? certainly not giving advice here, this is just what was relayed to me... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

somewhat off topic but since this is the resident Infinity update thread.. how does VSE recommend cleaning lots and lots of Arizona dust off a rig? fortunately they only cut the leg straps right above the fold backs so no real serious repair issues (thanks Grey for helping the medtechs find the best spots) but it is quite covered with Eloy's sand (and the reserve will be out of date before i'm back ) so it there a "full dunk" method yous guys prefer or is the brush and sponge method best?? ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

wonders what one would be charged with for actually doing this....have to call home and ask... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

a fairly recent band The Twinemen has several tracks that really hit me as wonderful skydiving songs... as far as I know none of the band has ever jumped, but its amazing how some of the lyrics seem to fit skydiving so well...of course that could be my obsession to apply everything to skydiving somehow...but song titles like.. Learn to Fly Watch you Fall and the lyric thats haunted me since a friends death.. "What if i wake up? and the music stops playing...and the red lights still on? Dont be afraid, step into the sun, sing like a mother as she sings to her young...." its way more laid back than your typical 'skydiving' music but it really hits me sometimes how perfect it is... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

i suppose you find all metaphoric visualizations to be ‘stupid’?? various meditative (and many combative) disciplines use a variety of visualization techniques, just because one doesn’t work for you doesn’t mean it is 'fucking stupid'. If you believe that you would have absolutely HATED my first iaido sensei who used lots of animal images and metaphors in his training methods... and could split an apple and sheath his katana before you knew he'd moved... minds and parachutes.... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

dont worry about "messing" up someone's jump. Anyone who would think you were doing that isn't giving back to the community that helped them... my last several jumps at eloy before my accident (and even the last one) were several 2 way sitfly 'drill dives' basically exit, level, kneedock, 360, kneedock, 360, kneedock etc.. we'd started adding over unders as well on the last few and they were amazingly fun dives for me (as a fairly experienced freeflier) and it was sooooo cool to see someone grinning from ear to ear after every dive.. even those simply dive flows were entertaining for me and we were getting multiple 'points' on each dive... a few "follow the leader" sitfly dives (with video) would do great things for your flying i'm sure..anyone who wont take a jump or two to play with you is being an asshat... ps..please tell me the weighted ball comment was a joke.... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

we are getting waaay off topic, but i think the extreme depth and detail they have taken the site to fools a great many people, i know christians who have actually apologized to me for that chuch's beliefs... rotflmao... that is sort of what i meant by 'subtle' ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

it is a joke....a some what subtle, but very good one.... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

lots of things can cause you to backslide in a sit, so focus on your basic position.. 90 deg calves and thighs (feet on your butt defects wind forward from your shins causing a back slide. torso 90 deg from thighs..leaning your torso forward defects wind as well causing a VERY fast backslide. head centered above torso.. looking down between your legs cause air to spill off your neck creating a slower backslide... once you are aware of 'neutral' for all these surfaces you can use these effects to make small and large movements at will.. i found (by accident really) that a drum throne (what they sit on) is a great tool for practicing your position on the ground..you can adjust it to the exact height for your legs to ba at 90s and as it has a small surface area it is pretty easy to tell if you leaning fwd/back.... my .02 ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

He was across the hall from me for a few days while i was in the hospital, unfortunately i didn’t get to limp over and see him (as i wasn’t cleared for crutches yet), but his parents came by to see me when they were told there was another skydiver across the hall They were simply wonderful, great people who do understand our love for the sky and stopped by to say hi and chat for a few until Todd was moved to a rehab center.... prayers and support i suppose, I believe they are trying to focus on the healing process out of the limelight that comes along with being a well recognized member of a very close community. He is making progress and fighting hard (asking about Nationals even ) but it is not my place to say anything else.. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

when i was on vacation a few months ago, I ran sound for a friend's gig at a local club. Her regular drummer was out with the flu that week so she had scrambled to find a replacement who could quickly learn the songs.. he was competent, not great, and tended to coast thru some sections instead of accenting where he should have.. half way thru the second set his cell phone rings on stage..... then the unprofessional asshat actually answered it!!! i had to restrain the bassist and the guitar player from actually beating his ass, they had already thrown him against the wall in the 'green room' by the time I got there. Luckily the crowd was thin and the bar manager wanted to call an early night so we scrubbed the third set. We paid him, but left him and all his gear outside the club to figure out how to get home, good thing he had insisted he use his own drums and needed a ride time to use that cell phone again loser..... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

saw some great video of the Team Xaos (Andy, Luke and Jeffro) doing that under their tiny xbraces in Washington state this year....looked like a hell of a lot of fun, but very little room for error... of course in good powder days i simply dont understand why anyone would want a canopy in the first place... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

apparently so...as i've met a few dz.comers in my travels and others from a few other forums i frequent.. (ps..i'm simply amazed by the number of regular lurkers here) i've had several tell me (usually drunk and partying after jumping..) " YOU are Zenister? dude your sooo much more laid back and relaxed in person..." i dont believe real personalities ever come across in text, particularly when the majority of my participation is in highly charged debate forums.. i have discovered over the past few years that keeping my debate/discussion/argumentative side appeased online makes life soooo much easier for myself and those around me. Who for the most part are not as interested as I in picking apart the finer details and examining them with a microscope in day to day life... its a good outlet for me to stay balanced... as if that is a problem ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

very very cool but that one isnt quite as cool as IMO... it really does need to say Fighting against Foreign terrorists.... a subtle but important distinction.. maybe i'll make my own version...i do have the time at the moment... but i think i'll order a few of those first... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
