nah this is making it more 'mainstream' using recognized 'celebrities'.. it's an official recognition that there is a market and a desire to see these characters beyond just the laura croft nude photoshop jobs that used to be everywhere.... imo Playboy/Penthouse etc.. should have gotten with the game designers and done this a while ago, there is certainly a demand for that kind of character pin up, its just taken the mainstream porn a while to recognize it. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

they are the modern equivalent to 'pin ups'... i guess all the cartoons and drawings from the 30-70s (when pin ups really faded) arent 'porn' either.... may not be your cup of tea, but based on the sales and the major demographic market for those games, those 'toons' get a great deal of attention..... porn is fantasy, even if the pictures are of real people..... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

but based off many of the notes, and conversations with his father about the background to the stories... IMO the prequels may not be as if Frank had written them, but they are very close to the intent of the whole epic... sometimes i think people tend to focus on their personal 'relationship' to the characters in a story and not to the larger themes... particularly in epic works such as Dune...... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

i'll have to check the DVD's then.. its not like i dont have the time atm...... "God created Arrakis to test the faithful..." imho a great deal of Herbert's intentions and perceptions on the nature of human development and the various paths (pure scientific, technical vs 'natural' conscious, designed evolution) to reach it have been lost in the visual representations so far... there is a larger picture.... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

I really really have to disagree, the movies are great eye candy and a good intro perhaps, but you really really miss the deeper insight and meaning from the book in the visual interpretations thus far.... honestly imho it would take a 20 hour series to really reflect the true spirit of the books, and who is going to pay for (and sit through) that?? ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
