because the law was a farce in the first place and never did what it's supporters claimed it did... a bit of research say searching for "Guns" in the SC would have answered your question without the zillionth thread on the subject and in the wrong forum.... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

so you cant come up with any supporting facts, but you still assert that it is Clinton's fault?? rotflmao... sometimes people really need to take off the political blinders... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

Would it surprise you if liberals created a lie just to occupy their opponents' time trying to run it down and quell it? nope, doesnt surprise me a bit when ANY politician does it... dont pretend your party is any better or holds any higher moral ground on such tactics... its all politics as usual. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

if your the president you do, in fact you dont even have to declare it to send troops.... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

in my case, radar, radar exploitation platforms, perimeter security and other MASINT/SIGINT sensors, there is ALOT of electronics included in WRM for the army, and its more than just ammo.. it is all of the non perishable, heavy, hard to transport supplies to fight a two front war, supplies we've exhausted in this single 'security action' (could we at least declare it? damn..) Shorthanded? the Army, soldiers who are being used for jobs they are not, and have never really been trained for. We've sucked out and all the critical MOS's away from non-deployed units and attached them to deployed units, when they return 'home' their unit deploys and they are suddenly back out with little to no recovery time... we may have enough 11B and 71L (although i'm not sure about the 11b as i've seen a number of soldiers poorly trained in the basic infantry skills out patrolling ) but were are hurting for the less common, more technical critical skill specialties.. the AF never had the retention problems the Army does, they treat their people and their families MUCH better (i'm an AF brat) and so can deal with higher optempo much better than the army....Marines/Navy i have no direct info about as i havent worked with either in awhile... No, where i observed it the missions given to the leadership included tasks they werent properly equipped or trained for, but they did them anyway...imo the build up should have gone on about 2 months longer really... and we should have been planning, training and recruiting for this level and type of conflict for 2 years before we went to make up the shortfalls....unfortunately military readiness hasn’t been a priority since Regan.. other theaters? every other place in the world we have troops, Europe, Korea etc, readiness isnt something that matters only on the front, but absolutely we are neglecting Afghanistan IMO... i think in this case it is a matter of the generals telling the Boss what he expects the hear... I've been personally appalled at the way reports and briefings are 'spun' at higher echelons... I can only blame politics, which is a piss poor reason to screw the guy on the ground, but the Army has issues with delivering bad news up the chain, they achieve their goals, but the difficulties in doing so due to poor pre-planning and inadequate supply rarely seem to make to the flag level AARs "never trust an officer above Lt. Col, he's only thinking about his next job..." btw…which CAOC do you work at? I’m scheduled to rotate with our FE in Qatar in Jan/Feb depending (probably already be there if i hadnt broken myself) sometimes i hate being a 'godless contractor', I see all sorts of things i believe are wrong, but have no authority to correct them anymore... whenever is see quotes like that i really have to wonder if they left out "elected police officials" because i havent met a LEO (and i have several in my family) who thought the ban was a good idea, or in anyway affected crime rates..... but if your trying to get (re-)elected supporting 'feel good' law that the ignorant mass has little real knowledge of is usually good PR... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

if you could trace this large of a deficit to Clinton era policies... it would be simple to find...the Republicans would have put it all over everywhere in an election year...... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

i was there initially, we were WAY short handed and the leadership at the time said so ....at least as high up the chain as politics allowed... We went in with an undersupplied, under manned force for the goals we set and if the initial fight had offered much real resistance to the point they have begun to now.. the shortfalls would have been very obvious to everyone. The proficiency of our soldiers and the lack of initial resistance made it appear we had enough, but we should really really stop letting civilian leaders dictate battle plans and troop requirements… and No, we do not have enough total troops to rotate properly, not without burning them out and neglecting our obligations in other theaters. Which is why we are planning on abandoning a few of those other theaters... there are already reports that support this, both the realignment which has been in the news already and the op-tempo issues for the soldiers in rotation... i expect the news media to be all over it in the near future.. but if we are going to continue on this path our military needs to be ALOT larger than it currently is.... and how many fronts was that WRM supposed to support?? That mistake we can certainly blame Clinton for, but it doesn’t change the fact that we don’t have what we should have available to insure our continued security. Also, have you seen the timeline on those contracts??? I’ve seen the schedule for the systems i support, and some of them are 8-10 YEARS!! and past the retrofit/end of service dates for the older versions, yet because we have to build to contract, we are going to be manufacturing equipment that will be obsolete before it fields.......hopefully that gets fixed...but I’ve learned never to underestimate the stupidity of the bureaucratic process or the lure of money when it comes to doing what is right for the end user (soldier) ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

and then it will climb again... as every wave does... nothing falls forever either.... just because your experiencing a downturn into a trough does not mean the end is near or the cycle is in any way over...... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

what about when the software/music hasn’t been sold commercially for 10+ years and is no longer being supported by the original manufacturer/distributor in any way shape or form, for those who DID buy it 10 years ago...( or as is becoming more prevalent 2 years ago??) if you abandon a product, stop selling, stop marketing, stop supporting the end users, i dont see how its theft for someone else to pick up your trash.... and then you act offended when they find away to make it useable again??? ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

rotflmao... do you mean the ones who were living in Africa, Asia, and the America's at the time? their crops grew a bit better from the extra rain fall i imagine... ... did you make your sign yet?? what part of 'cycle' dont you understand??? nothing climbs forever... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

I'd have found the war more acceptable if we'd just admitted we were doing it to protect the current standard of 'the American way of life' and our countries economic interests.... but the truth rarely sells well.... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

but we are running out of troops to rotate.... we might not need more on the ground, as the country stabilzed into 'regions of conflict' and we train up the Iraqis to take over the less critical areas and we move into the zones under dispute, but we certainly had a need for more than we brought initially and we do have a need for more troops PERIOD, if we are going to attempt this kind of nation building in the future.... you DO realize, that all of our 'standing reserve' of equipment is now GONE ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

the abandoned games discussion is nothing new... but its amazing how little attention the former big names like Atari etc... paid to it until they realized they could make money again from a product they stopped caring about and stopped supporting years ago... once you stop supporting your software, it should go into the public domain..maybe then more developers and publishers would actually fix some of the crap they threw over the wall instead of leaving the users to do it for them..... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
