  1. I think you fundamentally misunderstand what America is about, and why exactly our way of life IS better than most of the rest of the world who are still governed by bronze age superstitions and obsolete cultural mores. But then that is the beauty of America, you are allowed to your uninformed opinion anyway no matter how dated it is. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

    Jokes

A man walks into a bar with a cat and a flamingo. He says to the bartender "Its been a long day. Give me a shot of whiskey with a beer chaser and whatever they want". The Flamingo asks for a daiquiri and the cat says "I want a Long Island Ice tea and a glass of Milk, but I AINT paying for it!" The bartender looks a puzzled but brings the drinks and tells the man "That will be twenty-one fifty." The man sighs, reaches in his pocket and pulls out twenty one dollars and fifty cents. Fifteen minutes goes by, and the man asks for another round. "I'll have the same, and whatever they want." The Flamingo says "I want three shots of tequila". The Cat says "I'll have another Long Island Iced tea and a Flaming Doctor Pepper, but I AINT paying for it!!" The bartender rolls his eyes makes the drinks and tells the man "That will be thirty one twenty five." Again the man sighs, reaches in his pocket and pulls out thirty one dollars and twenty five cents. Another twenty minutes passes and the trio finishes their drinks. The bartender asks the man if he'd like another round. The man says "I'll have a glass of water, and get them whatever they want." The flamingo orders three more shots of tequila with a beer chaser and the cat says "I want a shot of whiskey and a glass of milk, but I AINT paying for it!!!" The bartender brings out the drinks and tells the man "that will be twenty five seventy five." Again the man sighs, reaches in his pocket and pulls out twenty five dollars and seventy five cents. As they finish their drinks and get up to leave the bartender says "Excuse me, but do you mind if I ask you a question?" "Go ahead" the man says. "Sorry to be prying, but you've been here an hour, had three rounds with different drinks every round, and yet every time I give you the total you've reached into your pocket without looking and pulled out exactly the amount needed. How the hell do you do that?" The man lets out the loudest sigh yet and says, "Well, its like this..Early this morning I was walking along the beach and saw something sticking out of the sand. I pulled it out and brushed it off and as I did a Genie appeared before me. The Genie said "You have freed me from my imprisonment, as a reward you may have three wishes". I was amazed, but collected my thoughts and said "From this day forward, whenever I want to buy something I want to have the money to do so immediately." DONE! the Genie cried. You have two more wishes, quickly for I must be on my way." The man thought again for a moment and said. "I want a chick with long legs and a tight pussy". ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

  4. Sure, America must look like the wimp. Bravo Sierra! We look the wimp because we are fixing some religious nutjobs idea of 'cute'? Something that should have never been on any piece of equipment sold to the US military in the first place? The fact it was there at all is Bravo Sierra. The fact that it was 'hidden' as part of the serial number is a clear indication the owner KNEW he was 'getting away with something' he shouldn't have done.. otherwise why not engrave the full verse on the side for all to see? After all it wouldnt affect ther performance of the sight. "Dont hide your light under a bushel" and all right?? ofc doing that would have prevented his hardware from being even considered for military use AND HE KNEW THIS! I'm sorry you are flat out wrong, removing an unnecessary piece of religious propaganda from military issued equipment is the only right thing to do. If you read the articles near every senior military commander (all but one, and he wasn't in a command position) called it 'troubling' and both British and Australian Military have a problem with it too ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
  5. Well, *that* will assuredly make AQ/Taliban love us now, right? Not the point. It should have never been there in the first place on any equipment sold to the US military, and you can bet the manufacturer knew as much from the beginning. I hope they aren't charging for these 'kits' ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

  7. That Jody maybe used in practice, but try singing it in any training environment (where the standards are strictly enforced) and see how fast you get shut down its not supposed to be sung anywhere else either but such habits take a while to get out of any institution. The cry of pushing religion is misplaced, it is having such references on issued equipment is a problem because it encourages the PERCEPTION that the us military is proselytizing, something that is prohibited by law. I'm sure you are aware that actions that contribute to perceptions, even misperceptions are frowned apon and just outright stupid, particularly in an environment where winning to trust of the local populous is critical for success of the mission. As stated above there is no good reason for such references on military issued equipment. There are many good reasons why such things are prohibited. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

  9. Like the dogtags that say things like "Methodist" and "Catholic", or like those fellows walking around with a CROSS on their collar, you mean. Am glad to see somethings never change, nice strawman. Dog tags show PERSONAL religious preference so that your body it treated with the respect and traditions of the individual. Every soldier decides what, if any such designation is on theirs. Chaplains wear there specific religious symbol but are required to be familiar with all other recognized religious beliefs because doing so is a fundamental part of supporting a military that represents ALL Americans and the religious backgrounds that make up our services. None of those songs are permitted in any official capacity from many many years. This is as it should be, the military is not a place to indoctrinate ANY religious belief. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
  10. No you cannot. Your point may be valid with respect to self defense, but this statement is completely incorrect. My grandmother was a nationally ranked marks(wo)man. There were few people on the planet I'd rather have with a gun even into her 70s. With a bat she couldn't break a window much less defend herself or her family. Firearms remove physical limitations from the defense(or offense) equation. To suggest otherwise is to ignore reality. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
  11. I am all for gun ownership. I have many and have/had concealed carry permits in several states. My issue is with the foolish statement that ANYONE can "tell someone's character" after two days of 'coaching' anyone at anything. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

I'm all for gun ownership.... but statements like that are just so ignorant you have to wonder about the speakers judgment about everything in life.... you can rarely tell ANYTHING about anyone's 'character' after two days.... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
  17. Religious free speech has no place in military contracts. For personal use it is absolutely OK, however I'm quite sure this company didn't mention that it habitually included Christian religious references stamped on its equipment when it bid for the contract. You can bet your ass if they had they would have been told they needed removal if they wanted the govts business. The question above stands would you be equally OK with qoutes from the Koran included on equipment issued to us soldiers? Religious statements of any stripe have no place on US military issued equipment. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

    Wall Sits

first time I encountered these was basic training, Drill's used it as form of corrective PT...ofc since its basic the entire squad gets 'corrected'. I'd been fencing (a wall sit is static but there isnt alot of difference between this and a deep 'engarde' position, something I'd spent countless hours doing) since I was 16 (was 23 then) and broke 4 min easy... none of the Drill Sgts could 'out sit me' they were pissed too... my knees arent what they used to be and neither are my legs, but I'll see how long I can bear it later today. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
  20. In the end they'll find any excuse to accuse the Unites States of engaging in a holy war. I just wonder how some here would feel if these were references to verses in the Koran instead of the Bible. My guess would be that these same people would be up in arms going, going ape s%$t and would want to hang the execs of this company for promoting terrorism. religion is religion, as a Government we have no business pushing any of them, in even the most oblique manner, nor should any equipment issued to our soldiers. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
  21. Most likely answer. Matthew 5:16 In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven. cant say I find this cool at all. It plays exactly into the hands of those who wish to paint the US as engaged in 'Holy War' someone at that company should be held accountable and they should lose all government contracts for the next 10+ years because of this. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
  22. Guess I'm blessed with good eyesight I have no issues reading anything on the Droid (in fact I love the aldiko reader and websurfing in landscape mode. I can read incoming msg and gmail with it on my desk in dock mode while I work) I prefer the virtual keyboard over the physical for its autocomplete functions (no idea why that wasn't an option with the physical) While switching to typing with the virtual keyboard took a week or so to adjust I'm as fast now (or faster due to autocomplete) than I was on the Treo, and screen realestate when replying is a non issue for me..watching videos on the Droid screen is a joy and even the speaker sounds pretty good as a music player on a hard surface. The spas is pretty useless so far but beyond that I'm very pleased with it, and the single point access to Gmail, facebook, YouTube and browsing, not to mention maps and navigation is brilliant. I could link it to corporate email as well but prefer to keep that seperate at the moment as I just don't want work that integrated into 'real life's Overall I am very happy with it..enough I will probably get a second to root and play with the sdk later this year. Edit autocomplete does get me from time to time spas above should be dpad but was typing to fast and missed it..but you can set custom dictionary and it even learns your commonly used words (as well as pulling names from you contacts...nice not to have to type long strings everytime) ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
  23. Love mine. Typing this on it now. Will have to check the accessability options to see if there are font adjustment options. I'd be extremely surprised if there are not, but if that is the case I'm sure it will be addressed via apps/software update. Keyboard both physical and virtual has a learning curve but apart from patience while you learn it by no means sucks. Most haters I've run into simply don't want to adjus from what they are already used to.. It is a major step up from the treos I had prior and absolutely smashes the blackberry corporate forces me to use as well. Am very impressed with it,wary a bit of Google's information overlord approach but it is an excellent digital assistant IMO overall. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
