I have one terminal reserve opening on PZ-81 (Delta). It was my first and only reserve ride. I was happy to be alive, and did not pay attention to opening shock . I quess I was in opening "SHOCK" .

Any body know anything about the USSR's KAP AAD?

They were still used in Poland 10 years ago (along with round main and reserve canopies, although it could be used with the square main as well). I have approximately 50 jumps with them. The AAD was mechanical and installed on the MAIN, and it fired on EVERY jump, at a preset altitude (1650 feet/500 meters - although I recall it could be changed). Basically, it was a "pin puller" type of AAD. The jump looked like this: Let's say you jumped from 10,000 feet. The safety pin was inserted into the AAD. The AAD was "armed" (by pulling the AAD's "pin puller" cable to some extension on the ground and locking it in this "pulled" position). You hooked up the safety pin's lanyard to the airplane (much like you hook up a static line to the airplane). When you jumped, the lanyard extracted the pin from the AAD, and the AAD started it's 5-second countdown (you could hear the mechanism "rolling"). It then stopped after the 4-th second, and waited until you reach the pressure altitude of 1650 feet. It then fired after one second, whether your main was out of container or not. Thanks a lot, Mel! This canopy (Spectre 190) and slider were manufactured in May 2001. Any more narrowing it down, as to the grommet type (LD or SLD)? I am really curious and would like to know -

Do you have the weight (in grams preferably) for each of those? Curious as to what weight differences there were. Attached is what I have on my Spectre. It says on the grommet "RUTGERSON SWEDEN". Is there a way to tell is if is GSR25, GSR25LD, or GSR25SLD? -

Looking at the ParaGear catalog from 1996, PD canopy had option of #8 Brass, #20 Stainless, and #25 Stainless frommets. Which one was the heaviest, medium, and lightest? What is the "coding" for the current lightweight (about 50 % lighter) grommets? -

But strong magnets DO draw blood, don't they?

But you will be anemic only for the duration of the time the magnets are close to you, right? So, in skydiving, that would be about 1 - 2 hours a day (wearing a rig). Is it also "bad", or no big deal in general (long term effects)?
