  1. I overheard somebody say that you must pack a Tempo reserve in a different way than how you pack a PD or a paraswift. How true is that? HISPA 21 www.panamafreefall.com
  2. was he a rigger or a certified packer? thats one of the reason why only rigger or certified packers are allowed to play with it, they are a bit more careful. HISPA 21 www.panamafreefall.com

  6. Panama will be celebrating an Air Show this sunday january 26. The event is been organized by ASUCAL the association that takes care of the airport of Calzada Larga. There will be skydiving, comercial planes flying low, military planes, small planes doing demo rides for whoever is interested in flying, ultralights, radio controled planes and some other surprises. We will be selling food and drinks so bring your family and have fun! The main reason for the Air Show is to celebrate the 100 year of first flight and to celebrate the 100 year of the republic of Panama. We are expecting about 2000 people so be sure to come! 7. My comments are kinda hard but I have found that it is the best solution for somebody that just wont listen. If you think and have friends that think that he will not make it alive when he jumps the stilleto 120 there are 3 things to do: 1- tell him and talk to him about the dangers of the wingload he's choosing, that he might die and why you think that. Also you can bring him to the forum or print the page for him to read and know what he will be getting into. if he doesn't listens because he is to COOL to hear you talk and because he's superman and nothing will/can hurt him, you go to step 2. 2- talk to the club president, dz owner, his instructors or somebody else who is important to him, and make that person talk to him and try to make him have some concious. If it still doesn't work and you know that he will get to board the plane with the small stuff, you go to step 3. 3- Buy a camera and never leave home without it, and don't go in the plane when he's jumping, be on land with the camera and a video cam if you have one. Have somebody film him and somebody take pictures (have a new film and a new tape installed). You will have the perfect visual aid for the next superman coolman that will try a to small canopy for his/her skills and trust me with that new visual aid you will succeed on making others to think things twice. The idea of the camera is because sometimes forensics don't give the pictures to civilians. From personal experience I have a friend where we had to implement step 2 and good thing it worked. 9. I was searching some used stuff and in the container section I found a infinity that said it was size I-33. What does I-33 means? thanks HISPA 21 www.panamafreefall.com
  10. there is a good knot (dunno if its valid for the closing loop) but it can hold tons of pressure and it will never get too tight to undo, its called (in spanish) "As de guia", commonly used in SCUBA diving and in Boats. Have you tried the "Half double knot"? its also a good knot that can hold pressure and will not get too tight for undoing it and there is the "lasca" (spanish) that can also be used. They are all used in Boats because they are easy to do, work good with tension and they are very easy to undo with the hands and no tools. HISPA 21 www.panamafreefall.com
  11. I agree 100% with you Vallerina. When somebody talks about suicide is mostly because he/she needs help. Been there tried that, got help. HISPA 21 www.panamafreefall.com

  13. Been a SCUBA diver for most part of my life, I have plenty of SCUBA gear bags so thats what I use, they can carry a load of things and are weigth resistance. There is one catch almost all scuba bags have small holes to let the water exit. HISPA 21 www.panamafreefall.com
  14. I am usually making 2 way with newbies so here is my deal: 1- look at partner do 180° from center of formation 2- "HEY ITS 180°!!!!" 3-"READ MY MIND!!!! 180°!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" 4-"now thats a horrible track, hey hey hey don't don't don't turn back to me!!! tracks are supposed to be straight!" 5-"good now I see his real heading, time to split to get away" 6-"Oh my god he's going to pull, god please help me track faster and farther please please please" 7-"he opened am safe goooooood, woohoo! still have 200 more feets to reach 3000feets, more freefall!" 8-"arch, look around, nobody, reach, pull, let go" when am jumping with experienced jumpers: 1-"180° good" 2-"god my track does sucks" 3-"look everybody is opening" 4-"arch, look around, nobody, reach, pull, let go" HISPA 21 www.panamafreefall.com

  17. I live in a country where you jump in hot sun and once in freefall a cloud comes from no where and rains. Who said living in the tropic was nice? here is my summary: 2 words: IT HURTS! more words: on freefall and under canopy: you get soaking wet, your canopy gets wet and it takes a lot of time to dry it, lines get wet, risers get wet, container gets wet, neck gets red (if you are using full face helmet, if not then may god have mercy on your face), your jumpsuit gets wet and your hair gets wet, wearing clothes is the same as wearing nothing because it hurts the same. When you land: you can slip, you have higher wingload, there is mud instead of grass, grass stains green mud stains brown, floor is slippery making it easier to fall on a running landing, water getting in your eyes is a pain when landing (I have bonehead boomerang and those lil holes in the visor are HUGE when its raining). after the jump: nobody has a plastic bag to put your soaking wet canopy, you are cold, everything is wet and there is no place to store it (or if you want you can put it inside your gear bag and get everything wet), your log book gets wet, you realise that you need to carry a towel with you and a change of clothes and shoes, angry cause there is no more chance for another jump cause everything is wet. on the ride home: you have your car wet, your seat wet and feeling cold, you sneeze and start thinking of the flu, neck still hurts, neck still red, kinda angry cause it was a very bad skydive, feets are starting to itch cause they are very wet and you start to think about athletes foot, feets and hands look like prune cause they were wet and cold for some time. in home: open canopy lay it on floor (get floor wet, hope you don't have a carpet) and use a fan to dry it up (remember no sun and no heat) cell by cell, realise that stitches are hard to dry and lines too, hang jumpsuit, gloves, shoes, socks, tshirt, shorts and pants in the bathroom cause they are still dripping water, clean what is stain before letting water dry. next day: buy tylenol having a faint headache. conclussion: light rain turns into heavy rain in freefall and under canopy, after landing rain calms, land with plane. Advice in case you dont follow conclussions: don't open mouth in freefall, use full face helmet and open at the altitude you are supposed to open (follow the dive) even if you are under heavy pain. Hope it gives you an idea about what happens when jumping when its raining.

  20. Ok here is my spine history: 7 or 8 years ago almost broke my neck in a car accident, got 3 discs compressed 1 or 2 vertebra very hurt (can't remember very well what it was the hurt part), had to be in bed for 3 months, 6 months (I think it was 6 maybe more) of physicaltherapy, and A LOT of pills. 6 years later I started jumping with no problem only from time to time I get my neck pains but if I get a very hard opening I have to go back to physical therapy for a month (3 days a week). Begginning of last year I made a horrible landing (landed with my butt making NO flare with a wingload of 1.23:1) and got scoliosis, after 7-8 months of pain I went to the doctor (I still had the trauma of 8 years ago so I didn't want to go to the doctor cause I was sure he was gonna ground me but wasnt sure for how much time), luckily he grounded me for 2 weeks and 1 month of physical therapy. Now, I still get pains from time to time but I keep jumping, doctor's order was to loose weight and tone my muscles, make exercise, walk and swim a lot. Guess what am doing... 21. the dolphin is huge so you can use it to store your javelin RS, goggles, helmet, jumpsuit, altimeter and still have space for something else HISPA 21 www.panamafreefall.com
  22. for full face I prefer the bonehead boomerang its stronger and more comfortable than the Z1 and the factory diver. If you have a big head, don't go for the Z1 they only know how to do small even if it says X-Large it is still small. For open face I prefer a protec (good price and kinda good protection) or a bonehead mindwarp (the new one has internal ditter protection). HISPA 21 www.panamafreefall.com
  23. I've tried boomerang, factory diver (non flip up) and the Z1 (flip up), and gotta say I prefer the boomerang because is much more comfortable than the others and its not so hot like the factory diver. HISPA 21 www.panamafreefall.com
  24. Yeah and keep in mind that I have the 1997 dolphin! Wanna buy it? HISPA 21 www.panamafreefall.com
