    The Dreaded 3%

If the business owner has signed a very bad merchant agreement, they have to pay the fee on the backend. Most merchant agreement refund the fee with monies returned. It's a cost of doing business.
  2. Not exactly the question, but I respect that. I just don't like cigarette butts tossed at my truck when I'm driving down the road.

    Web Hosting

    >Is it possible to host a web site from home? Yes >What would it cost ? Whatever your normal ISP bill is >What equipment would be needed? Nothing really more than you alreay have - A static IP address is nice, but not necessary. You can host via a dynamic IP, but you'll have to update the IP address each time you reboot the PC. >What software? WinXP, Win2k both have 'personal webserver' options that you can host one site. If you've got win2k or win2k3 server, you can host multiple sites. I have a win2k server that I use for demo website designs. They're all very low traffic so I don't notice a bandwidth hit. >or if I need to ask these ??s I probaly need not try to host it on my own?? It's simple. The best questions when you don't know something is the ones you'd generally term as 'stupid'. But the stupid question not asked is a learning opportunity missed. I generally do too, unless I'm on vacation. Then most everything goes on the card and I keep my cash handy for other things.
  5. So, I'm driving home from the store today and I guess I was driving in the midst of a bunch of smokers. To say the least, my truck got pelted with 4 cigarette butts over a quick 3 mile drive. Needless to say, I was a bit peeved. My truck is still pretty new (2003) and I really don't like stuff tossed at my truck.

So, you've traveled to a dropzone far away from home and you're putting everything on the credit card. You prepay for X amount of jumps (to get you started) but the weather does not cooperate and you do not get your prepaid X amount of jumps in. Since the DZ charged you the 3% up front, did you get your 3% back on the tail end or just the 'cash value' of what you paid. Thoughts? Opinions? Note: If a merchant runs a credit card they pay a fee for the service, generally in the 2.x% area. When they credit this back to your card, they also get the 2.x% back.
  7. Last time I got pulled over several years ago, I should have made an earlier pit stop but I wanted to get home and I could hold it till then. Took my chances driving by a well known spot for the people in blue to sit. When I got past the on ramp on the highway, I noticed an officer flying down the ramp, no lights yet. I immediately pulled over and got my stuff together. The officer pulled in behind me (I was now parked) and then turned his lights on. He came to the window and I got the standard question, "do you know why I pulled you over?" Immediately admitted I was speeding (and how fast) and handed my license, insurance card and registration over. Followed that with I had to go pee really bad as I sat legs crossed and rocking in the front seat. The officer smiled and let me know where his partner was running radar on my drive home and advised I should have a free shot from there.
  8. I've actually got the opposite this year - Only been home with the family for Thanksgiving and Christmas once each in the past 12 years. I have a feeling I'll be familied out since I live here again.

  12. If this doesn't work, plan a trip to one of the wind tunnels to get her feet wet for flying. Might entice her to do a tandem then.

  15. If you pay by credit card, it's the shipper's responsibility to make sure that you receive the product. If shipper places responsibility on customer, customer gets angry, calls credit card company to dispute charge placing responsibility squarely back on the vendor. Customer orders from another vendor who in turn delivers (by whatever means) and customer is happy. The customer is not responsible for the delivery of goods ordered when paid for by CC. (If customer receives ordered merchandise merchandise from vendor 1 at some point, they should do the responsible thing and refuse delivery so the package gets shipped back.)
  16. Yes - cd burned, just waiting for the appropriate address to ship it to. Should have it this week.
  17. Had an issue very similar to this several years ago, although the Drs billing agency never sent a bill (and admitted it). The initial submission was denied by the insurance company due to length of time, but once I got in touch with a someone at the insurance company and the Drs billing agency and got them talking, they took care of it. You'll need to try to remove the collection agency from the process. They don't care what you owe or your story. They want the money so they can get their cut. If you need other ideas, pm me.
  18. Juming a demo canopy at the WFFC while it was still in Qtown. Last out of a Casa and well, the airport was way out there. Dumped @ 4000k with no hopes of making it back. Landed in someone's back yard. The only open realestate in a sea of corn. Was picking up my canopy when 'dad' comes walking out the back door with tongs and a meat tray to check the burgers on the grill. First he looked at me, looked up, then looked at me and asked "Where did you come from?" I just pointed up. Got fed, packed and had a beer and a few family pictures before being driven back to the airport.
