  1. Just got back, and loved it. Nothing like I expected, but very entertaining. It's great to see the homeland getting so much screentime. That, and the fact that my wife giggled when they said "doos" cause she knows what it means
  2. I'll be at the meet at SD Houston on the 29th and 30th. I'm looking forward to meeting some new folks. See you then. Blues, Ian Performance Designs Factory Team
  3. Rolling the tail tight increases the chance of the canopy cocooning, especially on hop n pops. It becomes more noticable on smaller wings and I don't recommend it. It does oftentimes make openings 'seem' better because it helps keep the slider up against the bottom of the canopy. This can be resolved with attention to the slider during packing. edit: to explain better, cocooning greatly increases the chance of linetwists. Blues, Ian Performance Designs Factory Team
  4. Sure, if you want to spend 100's of jumps figuring something out. Personally, I'd rather get some coaching (and a good coach will get you enough so you can debrief yourself) and then focus on using those 100's of jumps to refine the technique. Personal preference I suppose, but I prefer to not repeat mistakes on things we've already learned how to do. Blues, Ian Performance Designs Factory Team

  6. Well, in a number of ways. We're originally planned a totally natural birth, but breech and cord wrapped around her neck ruled that out - so we had to have a c-section. Then about an hour and a half after she was born, she suddenly stopped breathing for about a minute while she was doing her first feed (and first bonding) with Annie. Fortunately we noticed almost immediately but she turned purple and went limp so fast - well.....it just tears me to even think about it. Fortunately the nurses were spectacular and get her breathing again. It turns out she had developed an infection in the womb which lead to her having some initial respitory issues. Combined with the baby's initial inability to coordinate she essentially 'forgot to breath'. Anyway, it was a REALLY long day of rushing back and forth with the nurses, getting her on antibiotics and dealing with the NICU. Today, she was a totally different baby - alert, feeding, and happy. It was such a welcome relief (they are still watching her closely though). She was worth it all though - she's an angel
  7. Kaiya Page Drennan was born July 29th 2009. Weighing in at 6 pounds 10 ounces and measuring 18 1/4 inches. After a rocky start, and giving us all quite a scare, she's doing great. Sorry for the pic quality (it's from my phone). Welcome sweety. I hope life treats you fairly, well, and with love
  8. That footage actually come out last year, but they've FINALLY released the HD footage, and made the working title public. I'll watch it for sure, even if it's terrible Performance Designs Factory Team
  9. I removed a lot of bickering from this thread. Simply put: Stop it. Ian Performance Designs Factory Team
  10. I wouldn't agree that it has a longer arc at all. Still, it definitely bears exploration (any canopy really). Find what fits your tastes, and needs. Blues, Ian Performance Designs Factory Team

  12. I'd also recommend looking into the Flight-1 curriculum. It's the same course that Scott Miller travelled around and taught. Essentially there are a few different canopy courses out there, all offering (in some ways) similar things and in other ways offering totally different approaches. Try and ask around on WHAT people got out of the courses and then see which one seems to fit what you are looking for most. Regardless of your choice, it's great to see you pursuing canopy flight education. Blues, Ian Performance Designs Factory Team
  13. The team's kick-ass swoop pants. Love them! Performance Designs Factory Team
  14. That's just it - he isn't one. In the eyes of the law, and this site - innocent until proven guilty. So yes, we have a zero pedophile tolerance - but just because people *THINK* he was one doesn't mean he was one and thus, discussing him, is in no way a forum issue. Sounds to me like you have a personal beef with him (which I totally understand, and actually agree with) - HOWEVER just cause we *believe* he did something doesn't mean he did, especially when you consider that he won in court. 15. Interesting, but since he was found innocent it's irrelevant (regardless of what we may personally feel). Not withstanding the above, and speaking as a NON MJ music fan, there's no doubt that the man's influence on music was quite undeniable. Blues, Ian Performance Designs Factory Team
  16. Ha! I wish! My comment is just that the industry is always working on getting better/faster - so eventually we'll have wings that are far superior to what we have today (hopefully in my skydiving career!!)
  17. Very true. Although, to be fair that last 6 mph is going to be REALLY hard to achieve. I suspect the next generation of parachutes will pave the way for that though
  18. Yeah. Thats it... Thats their kinky side. Well, you have to admit that's pretty kinky for a bunch of boring old farts. (Skymama excluded, of course.) Oh hell no..... Performance Designs Factory Team
  19. Check out Fallen - my wife and I just got it recently and quite liked it.
  20. Which would have saved the camera man in Elsinore who's wings covered his handles (if he'd had a cypres) - the point being that you can still end up in cypres situations after deployment. My personal preference is raised activation speeds over turning the unit off entirely. At least there are choices
