In the city and alpharetta areas I found the pay scale relatively comparable to Boston. I just switched jobs from MA and upped my salary. There's a good market for software engineers here too, but as always experience will dictate how the market receives you. Cost of living I find pretty close with it being a little cheaper here for just about everything except property. Property is WAY WAY cheaper than Boston. It gets very cheap the further away from the city you are, but you'll pay for that savings in time with worse commutes. Blues, Ian Performance Designs Factory Team

Agreed. Marta is cool for getting to the airport though. Specially if you have a flight leaving near rush hour. Otherwise Marta doesn't seem to serve much purpose

I live in the middle of Atlanta, the traffic is heavy that's for sure, but it flows...unlike Boston. I take driving in Atlanta vs Boston any day of the week. Oh yeah...Atlanta rocks

I agree, I'd stay on the Sabre2 myself and save up for the size Sabre2 I wanted. Blues, Ian Performance Designs Factory Team -
The no BS Honest swooping poll
ianmdrennan replied to Darius11's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
Very valid question. I did not upsize (In retrospect I believe I should have as it would have been the wisest option) but stopped doing any speed inducing approaches. Shortly after the incident I came to the US and was lucky enough to get some canopy coaching from a few really good pilots. While I didn't upsize they had me go back to basics and relearn pretty much everything, with a lot of emphasis on patterns and general canopy flight. I also took it upon myself to seek out as much information as I could. From there I followed a more structured progression through double fronts, 90's, back to 180's and eventually where I am now. There are a lot of things I'd do differently if given the choice again. I believe I set my piloting back by entrenching bad habits that I could have spent time fixing on a larger canopy as well. Hindsight is 20/20, at least I'm still alive to have it. It was close, that's for sure. Now I try and take that experience and do my best to make sure others don't have the learn the same firsthand lessons I did. Blues, Ian Performance Designs Factory Team -

Heh, likewise. Besides the fun factor, is there any reason you can't hold off on the downsize a bit till you've got some cash to get exactly what you want? Seems like a better alternative than settling for something you'd rather not have. Tough choices I know. Not sure what I'd do in the same situation -
Ahh yes. I've been spending a lot of my crap giving time hurling it Hayden's way

It really is a pity the Katana's not available in bigger sizes yet. Sounds like it'd be a good fit for where you want to go. I'm assuming you're staying with PD and other canopies are not an option? Blues, Ian edit: I'd choose the Sabre2 135 over the Stiletto. I like the characteristics of the newer canopies more. Personal opinion of course. Performance Designs Factory Team -
True my jedi master, but making sure it's on a Saturday would bump me to the definately there list Can't see any reason why Katie and I wouldn't be there. I don't believe Dave H has any CPC meets scheduled that weekend. Blues, Ian Performance Designs Factory Team

The no BS Honest swooping poll
ianmdrennan replied to Darius11's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
180's on a small canopy with less than 200 jumps. Destroyed 2 vertabrae in my upper back, tore all my spinal support muscles and tore all my intercostal muscles. Laying on the ground not being able to breathe, thinking I was dying is still the scariest moment of my entire life. There's a reason I am so vocal against progressing to quickly....I don't want anyone to feel what I feel EVERY SINGLE DAY. I will pay, physically, for my mistakes the rest of my life. Sometimes, folks just wanna learn the hard way though, I truely wish the information that is out there today was available to me when I was "learning" (we're always learning I know). So for the free rounds what kinds of routines are getting done? There's plenty of video of the open category, but we're wondering how complex the intermediate need be? Thanks. Blues, Ian Performance Designs Factory Team

As a legal immigrant to the US I feel it is RIDICULOUS that people will move here and not speak the accepted predominant language. Call me what you want, but if I moved to Germany I'd learn how to speak German. It's pathetic how non-PC it's become to expect someone to speak the language, or at least make a good faith effort to learn it, of the country they're living in. In South Africa, when people moved there, they were expected to learn afrikaans in school (required to pass a grade). Some leniency was given but by and large it was expected that you assimilate with the culture, not expect the culture to adopt your spoken tongue. Blues, Ian Performance Designs Factory Team

It's great, 100 feet by 300 feet and sand all around. Chris Hayes also posted a brief description in the post about the FLCPA. Now if only the FL weather hadn't sucked so much ass this weekend I'd actually have some time over it Blues, Ian Performance Designs Factory Team

Yep, positive. It's in the 2nd pdf. If anyone out there actually did the intermediate event, I'd love to make sure we're training for the correct moves and events. Blues, Ian Performance Designs Factory Team
