  1. 4way: - Block 5 Opal-Opal - direction arrows removed (pieces can rotate either way) - new Block 12 - Bundy-Bundy - Random M - Bundy out, replaced by Star - each correct and clearly presented formation is scored with one point - no busts for infringement (just 0 points) - no NJ situations any more (integrated into infringements) - omission is busted by 3 points - competitors get a right to request to rejudge their jump - only once during the competition - freeze frame on all three viewings is the same as on the first viewing - centerpoint defined and couple of other small changes I will try to post new rules and pools sometime this afternoon.
  2. I can not speak for all Panasonic 3CCD cams (plus European models may be quite different from US), but I personally did not see any of them accepting CamEye. If they do have a LANC port (most of them don't), it takes a different jack. The whole 24P thing really makes any sense if you plan to use footage in a cinema project. As for the general image quiality, DVX looks close to Sony VX/PD cams, but definately not superiour to them. Despite all the bad things coming from Sony recently, I personally believe their new HD line is the way to go...
  3. I've heard that PD did not change trim on any of their conventional canopies including Sabre 2, and I heard it from PD . Oh these are all marketing lies aren't they? Where your 'information' comes from?
  4. It's Russian replicas of original Classic and Classic 2. I flew the red one, but since I have never flown the original Classic I can not tell the difference . Solid stable suit, great for beginners. PM Yuri 'Outrager' for details. Or check with Perry - he saw Marina's suits during Moscow boogie last year.
  5. I would guess that Optima has a data-logger.
  6. some info here. Plus a new PC style 3chip model here. I think I am a bit confused by the current Sony trend. An affordoble 3chips on the market - great. But the smaller lens and chips and weaker body... .

    Majik '05?

The remark on nsl.com clearly comes from a person who has no respect whatsoever to our sport and to the people who are pushing it forward. Shame
  8. it was one of the suggestions (and IMHO a pretty good one) - but after being busted left and right for the last three years both judges and competitors would probably like it dead and buried
  9. Three to be precise - current pool became valid in 2002 .
  10. The better flier you are, the better is your camerawork. And tunnel is a great tool to become a better flier. I've learned many cool tricks in the tunnel (esp. side- and backslides, not to mention body awareness) which I would never dare to try on an actual camera skydive with a team - and now I use these tunnel skills on every jump. Go for it (and make the team cover the cost )
  11. hair-drier or put in in an airtight container with some silica gel or both
  12. Changes 2002 have reduced the pool from 24 to 22 blocks by removing overlaping blocks: - old #20 and #21 looked pretty much the same, hence #20 was replaced by a new Piver - Viper - old #5 and #14 shared Bipole hence new #5 became Opal - Opal - old #16 shared Sideflake-Donat with #2 and Sideflake-Opal with #3 hence was removed - old #1 shared Snowflake with #23 and was removed (Snowflake-Offset becoming new #1) - random H Opal (which became block #5) was replaced by Bow - random F became Open Accordian (for the reason I don't remember) I personally don't think any of these removed blocks will make it back. Well these are not mine but the IPC FS Committee ideas . I suspect that if they return the old Satellite-Satellite to replace the current #12, they will obviously have to change random O. As for #13 - not only "paper instruction" changes. The confusion is that judges have to watch both degrees and direction of both point and tail. Hence the idea is to allow tail to rotate in any direction. But once again - these are only suggestions. And there are more suggestions about serious changes in the rules, not only pool. Let's wait till January.
  13. Next IPC annual meeting is in the end of January. Since this is (finally ) a year of a Cup, not a WPC, the IPC can make changes. Most likely: - block 12 will be either modified (to solve the never-ending center-crossing confusion) or replaced (either Satellite-Satellite will be back or it will be something new) - direction arrow on the tail in block 13 will be removed (it keeps judges confused) Maybe the FS commitee will come up with other changes to the pool, but most likely that will be it. There might be much more important changes in the rules than just dive pool though .
  14. VCL-0630 does a great job (and very affordable), but, as any unsealed lens, is susceptible to fogging - if moisture gets inside of the lens, you get a dim dot in the center which keeps growing if you don't take care of it. If moisture gets inside treat the lens with a hairdrier. Keeping it in a sealed bag with some moisture-absorbing gel (like ones found in boxes with electronics, medicines, etc.) and flying camera in a box and with a filter normally does the trick. All this being said, I'm using VCL-0630 for the last three years and pretty happy with it. If you're looking for something wider check Royal - they've got a very nice low-profile 0.5.
  15. Nope. "3.3.6. Contact or grips are allowed between subgroups during the inter." IPC Competition Rules for FS 2004
  16. it does not look much bigger than the PD150... except for the stupid LSD on the handle... nice...
  17. sorry - mean big way record formation by US nationals/citizens, not the record set on the US territory
  18. any links to previous records are also appreciated
  19. No issues for the two years of jumping Brent's sight in Russian winters. Thanks Brent for the great stuff!
  20. looking for results and the draw in 4way open thanks in advance
  21. water and mild soup for main never occured to me to clean a reserve it's almost impossible to clean the lines (bloodstains, oil, etc.) so just leave them as they are Some useful stuff.
  22. Check the output on the miniDV cam (set in on DV output) and the input on the DV camera (set it on DV). If it won't work try the other way around and use your miniDV as a recorder (all DV cams will play miniDV).
