  1. even though PD does not recommend it, my teammate p-packed Veng regulary without any problems for several hundred jumps
  2. well technically they can run the thing without a roof the tunnel will have that cool minimalistic early 30s last century look not for Russian weather though

    IPC meeting

since non of us (Kurt included ) probably knows exactly what the possible suggestions are its quite difficult to speculate ain't it current ruling is very sufficient I think, and you could only guess what they want to change. What they might however change - and there is a strong rumour spreading - that live air2ground video would become obligatory for cat 1 events which is cool for everybody (but camerafliers and organizers )
  4. without a w/a you will limit yourself to a leading exit, and most likely the judges won't see grips on the first formation(s) - until your team is really slow with a 0.6 on Sony cam (and some practice ) you can be perfectly steep but with your 99999 jumps you probably know all that
  5. mmm... doubt that... they still have to finish the roof at least
  6. there are no quality w/a converters for HC3 I know of you can use Sony HD0730 (or look for discontinued CS series) but the results are far from being perfect everything else even at 0.7 (forget wider converters) is MUCH worse F. PS. HC1/A1 has 37 mm thread, HC3 - 30 mm
  7. well in proper wording HC3 does NOT have a mic input - though you can use some (very limited) makes of mics to attach via a hot-shoe or use a hot-shoe adaptor accepting jack/XLR input hot-shoe is the worst thing Sony has produced ever (being second only to the docking station )
  8. i don't think its a good idea because the glue substance from the gaffer may melt in hot conditions or under the direct sunlight the results are ugly
  9. it uses the same avchd compression as sony sr1 just at lower rate at 13mbps
  10. that's funny there is a mosaics in one of Moscow subway stations (dating back to pre WW2 or very beginning of it) picturing parachutists with two out I used to laugh at the wuffo artist... not anymore!

    Sony V1U

the whole lens block looks like a heritage from z1 - is it? (and altogether looks like an attempt to merry z1 lens block and pd150 body ) any idea if it has the same potentially faulty zoom/lens controller as z1?
  12. maybe - I'm just sure an HC1E I had in my hands around a year ago could not downconvert HDV to DV via firewire, that's why everybody was going for A1 for bigger $$$
  13. dubbing through firewire gives you an exact copy of the original, so recorder is irrelevant
  14. HC1E does not downconvert through i-link port, only through analog - at least the early models silly indeed
  15. I don't think it's true - at least not for all Sony cameras I can firewire an NTSC video from my good old PAL Sony TVR11 to any other dv camera, the second cam will record the NTSC signal which can be later transcoded into PAL through a hardware transcoder I did it many times
  16. this is strange because firewire does not care which signal to carry - it's just a cable once again - if you firewire say to another camera, your 350 does send PAL but does not send NTCS?
  17. do you have this problem only when you have both pal and ntsc recordings on the same tape? or you can't retrive pal at all?
  18. slo-mo to firestorm would be sweet
  19. it's not dual clock like Z1 right? and how does it handle Super Slo - same 10 secs as HC3 or longer?
  20. I used to be a huge fan of tube stows before my Kat got relined with HMA. I did not like the way HMA lines hold in t-stows. Now it's large rubber bands on the grommets and small on the bag. I never ever double stow anything. And yes I believe I get more consistent opening with rubber bands than with t-stows.
  21. because hdv is cool, i guess
  22. Sony cams turn themselves off when on stand-by for 5 (or 3?) minutes to save batteries
  23. there is also Stealth by Russian ParaAvis, but it's a main, not reserve
