I never said any of that, but if that's how you read it then...who am I to argue with you. A good portion of engineers can be a bit shy and as such a bit unconnected with how to speak and to sell themselves. Stereotypes are made to be broken, it's how we evolve and grow and individuals. Also how did you get that from this? Your average engineer is a great guy. He's hard working, usually very driven, very private and very smart. I know I can be blunt at times and I'm very sorry about that. The truth sucks and people just don't want to come to terms with it. But the sooner you do the sooner you can become a better person. I think there is a bit of confusion, as stated above, the game isn't about getting ass....thought that is very nice, it's about being able the talk, to banter to disarm a beautiful girls “bitch shield” and to get to know her and to let her know you. Perhaps it needs a better name but for the moment it's just called the game. A game where a guy wants to get to know a girl and the girl doesn't want to come across as being too easy in front of her ever so judgmental friends and does all she can to make his life difficult. And so the guy has to do some really stupid stuff and as such it's called the game. Your average engineer is a great guy. He's hard working, usually very driven, very private and very smart. And unlike the tools / gym rats of the world it's not like your average engineer can just show up at a bar in a tight shirt a fake tan an get at least one girl to hit on him because he's "dreamy"...nope...he's relegated to the back of the bar to contemplate why women won't see him? You know the same way some + sized girls will sit in the corner and demand that guys talk to them due to their amazing personalities. And no, the engineer won't lower his standards until he's a little older and little bit more bitter or....meets the first girls that will put out and treats him as if he is somewhat good looking. We call this fishing, and I've seen plenty of short fuzzy legged, + sized angry women fish themselves a decent guy around graduation time at engineering schools. And that's what happened to my friend, never had the skills to talk to a girl, any girl! And when he graduated he was "fished" by one of these trolls who in any other situation couldn't get the time of day from any self respecting guy (hay be pudgy, be angry don't be both and expect to get our attention would you if the tables were turned?). Long story short, he married her and he realized he made a huge mistake got a divorce handed her $50k (yes ladies you can make god money marrying and divorcing engineers) and is now trying to figure out at the age of 34 how to talk to girls so as to not to make the same mistake again. First step, I gave him the above mentioned book "The Game". He never read it. He has this notion that he'll hear music when he sees the girl of his dream and she will look past all his flaws and fall in love with him.....yeah ok! Step two, coach him and put him on a blind date. And so far so good. So that's that, yeah the boy aint got no game...but he's learning and maybe....maybe he'll find a nice girl who will treat him with some respect and he'll win her over and have a great life! I use to live in Finland, nice place, good food, nice people.....long winters! But most people there for some reason or another seemed to focus on the negative rather than the positive a bit more than average. I thought maybe it was just the long winters but lately the more I look around.....i see a lot of people who just focus on the negative. It's the strangest thing. Be it in a post, only read the first half and miss the joke in the end, or an idea being shot down due to the slightest chance of risk. What gives? Is it a global thing? Is every one just in a funk? Guys I'm so dead! Thank you for the help but i'm dead! My leg won't be better for another 6 months and so I won't be jumping till the spring. Yes O I am an engineer. A good one apparently, a few patents and a Six Sigma Black belt and what not and a few awards. which is all fine and good but they really don't amount to a hill of beans because all I ever do and ever did as an engineer was listen to my customer and ask him or her "So....what do you want?" Now that said, I never wanted to be an engineer. I actually wanted to be a writer....I use to be very good! But I wanted to eat and move out of my parents house and so i decided to become an engineer. 4.5 years of engineering school and well that part of my brain that allowed me to write was removed with a rusty knife. But thank god for my step father! He really didn't want me to be an engineer. So he made a deal with me. If I took humanities classes he would pay for my books. Best deal I ever made! I remained some what human, capable of talking to people and I still got a good education. As they say, se la vi. such is life. The idea of having it as a part of Engineering class is to bring a bit of humanity back to the engineeing students. But since there are more guys than gals (100-1...it would look like one hell of a gang bang) you would have to import some Psych girls. The engineering guys would learn how to talk to girls and not get freaked out and the Psych girls would have great material for their papers! You keep mentioning psych girls. Guys very dumb question? Do all rigs flare at the same height or are they all different? I'm trying to teach my brain what 10-15ft looks like. Immagine not being able to graduate due to not being able to square dance nor being able to walk up to some one and ask for a dance? I think it would be a good thing. If Engineering schools started offering basic social classes. You know kind of like highschool where you had to square dance and what not? I give you exhibit A. Angry engineering girl. In engineering school she's the bees knees! Why? Well 100 guys to 1 girl! All she would have had to do in school was point at a guy and say "You! You will pick me up at 8pm sharp, you will take me to this place for dinner, you will pay for dinner and you will be happy with a hug and the understanding that I know you exist!" and you know it would work most of the time. Get her out of school, get her into the real world....in a sea of business major women who had to work to date a decent guy due to the competition of all the other girls and well the inner anger just comes out.
