You're not picking on me? Hunh? Have I completely misunderstood you? Please tell me what I twisted. You're up late tonight, too, Josie.

Bobby, don't you have a busy day tomorrow? Whatcha doing up and hangin' on the DZ?

But Bruce...it isn't good when you interview someone and when they see the results they don't want to talk to you again. I thought your interview with Hayden, the one with the pictures was very good. I don't understand. I thought you were on good terms with him. I could ring him up tomorrow and he would take the call. Do you have questions? The basic question of ownership, I think, is SETTLED. Hayden owned the two chutes, Cossey did not. Hayden didn't even have to go to court to get his chute back. He told me he just had a lawyer send a single letter, and the chute was returned after a time. Just the one letter he said. Obviously the FBI had a record on the ownership of the chute(s). The information in the FBI report probably came from NWA, and possibly the rental agreement Hayden asked of NWA for the loan of the chutes. Hayden said NWA paid him the rental fees, but then he heard later the FBI was keeping the remaining chute as evidence. So...all those years later...Hayden decides he wants that Cooper chute back. Hey, I would have done the same thing. Then he donates it to WSHM anyway. His actions, his words in my opinion, are impeccable on this issue. I don't have a beef with Norman. I'm just telling folks some more information about the guy before he gets anointed for sainthood. I did offer Norman the option of talking to me "off the record," but he refused. I do think it is rude to not return emails or phone calls, and I honestly don't understand it because I had a great time with Norman, and I think he did with me and Bruce Thun as well. But Norman has his quirks. It reminds me of you, Bobby, and how sensitive you are about me writing about Kenny and saying that he had troubling relationships with young men and boys, especially at-risk youth. As for what Norman told you about the FBI, he told me a different story as I have told you a few times. Norman made it very clear that he had an adversarial relationship with the Bureau, loudly complaining at length about how he had to hire a lawyer to get his chute returned, and had to fight in a DC courtroom to do so. He also described in detail how obnoxious the FBI was in Seattle when they actually handed over the chute. Norman proudly re-enacted the encounter and shouted to the agent as he walked away from him, "Well don't ask me for nothin' ever again, either!" So, clearly, Norman is back-peddling on this account of this episode, as he has revealed in his conversations with you. I guess he wants to protect some version of his image. Possibly those rich friends of his. If you ever go visit with Norman, I'd be curious to hear what you think of his life-style. He currently lives in his work shop. It is very spacious, probably 10,000 sq feet, and he has his office converted to a bedroom. He also has a few vehicles and parks them in the shop as well. He also has a large power boat parked there. His passion these days is making RV airplanes, and he has about 30 of them mounted on the walls in various states of remodeling and renovation. Some are quite large, with a few at a five-foot wing-span.

I wonder what Special Agents Jimmie and Jake are doing tonight. Just wonderin'....

She picks on me, too, Dani Ten-Ten. It sucks.

Well, Mrs Cooper, there you go again - I have no recollection of you asking me anything about Norman Hayden. Why wouldn't I tell you exactly what I had heard from him and what I was doing with the information in terms of the Mountain News and my book? After all, I am a very chatty guy. Do I ever hide anything from you here? I think not. I made Norman the same deal I made you and everyone else that I write about who share their email address with me - I send them a draft and ask for feedback in terms of veracity. I always tell my sources that I am not giving them editorial authority as I only want their assistance on truthfulness - not grammar, style, or voice. Hence, I shared a draft with Norman. I was surprised when he got very squeamish afterwards, and shocked when he eventually decided not to communicate with me, saying that he did not want to tangle with Earl Cossey and being called a liar in public. Norman told me he had friends in high places who would look askance at such behavior and he didn't want to risk losing their favor. I have never heard from Norman again. He refuses to answer all emails and phone messages. However, I have heard in the Mountain News commentary section from a woman who claims to be a sister-in-law of Norman and says that he is not who he claims to be. However, she doesn't respond to my emails about this matter, and Norman offers no rebuttal or explanation for her charges. Nevertheless, I am glad that Norman chose to speak with Bobby, and later cooperated fully with the WSHM. A final word on final words. The author always has the final word. That is the rule. Hence, I have the final word in my book, and if you want the final word, then write your book. I have been encouraging you to do so for years. As for my final word on Norman, I believe my account of Norman's actions are accurate. What specifically do you think I got wrong? Or are you just castigating me on my manners, hygiene, and weasel-y behaviors, again? After all, EVicki thinks the heady aroma of my writing trumps any stinkiness I might extrude, and I think she is a fine judge of male pheromones. Wouldn't you agree?

Update on Duane Dick Jarman, aka, "Duane-2" I received an email from Sean this morning and I was surprised to learn that he is apparently retiring from the Norjak saga. He wrote, "I have told the story that I want to tell." So, I guess that's it. But my heart is big enough for two Duanes. Two RHs and a Bobby B, too, along with Mrs Cooper, of course.

I thought Norman said the canopies were identical and were purchased by him at a surplus store in WA. The FBI report has Norman saying one was a 28 ft (presumably C9) and the other a 26 ft (presumably Navy Conical). 377 Further, T-S-S, Norman told me that he had never spoken to anyone from the FBI and has no idea how they got this information. When I read Norman the above account he was agast. Clearly, no one in the FBI was fact-checking this report in 1971 or since, and this report, as written, has been accepted as fact even though it is gobbilygook. In addition, Larry Carr apparantly never read this report and has always accepted Earl Cossey's version of events, namely that he owned the chutes and they were different, as described above. Lastly, Geoffrey never told Larry of this discrepancy, apparently, nor told any of us, and I think the whole world was blind-sided when GG revealed that Norman Hayden owned the chutes. I know I was astonished to read GG's claim. When I called Cossey to clarify this matter and asked him why he had sent the chutes to Boeing Field instead of Sea-Tac, as he had long-claimed, he abruptly hung-up on me, but not before he shouted, "Fuck You." That was the last time I spoke with Coss before he got whacked. It's been 16 months since Coss went to the Blue Skies and still we await the findings of the major case squad at the King County Sheriff's Office. But Geoffrey's revelation of who truly owned the DB Cooper parachutes may have put Cossey's entire credibility into question and the relationship between him and the FBI began to unravel. Coss may have tried to hold on to his reputation and status in Norjak, and his resisttence may have gotten him killed. Hence, the above report shows the beginnings of a murder. Interesting, eh? I wonder how many other conversatsions have taken place on this episode, and where they took place. This is only place I know where Cossey's muder is actively discussed....and people say that nothing valuable happens anymore on the DZ. HA!

Greetings Everyone, I met with Sean Patrick Walsh today in Eatonville to discuss his new book on DB Cooper: "Final Suspect." Sean's a young guy and readily admits his work is a rough and raw beginning. It's short - only 44 pages or so, and it's light on evidence for a variety of reasons, such as resistance from family who don't want to go public, or he doesn't have a Snowmman in his corner (yet) who can give him leads and contact information. I read Final Suspect last night and it's a worthy effort, but it is just as much a story about Sean's family as it is about Norjak. In fact, Sean knows only rudimentary stuff about DBC - think Robert Blevins in the early days, but with good manners and a friendly disposition. I've encouraged Sean to join us here, and he did a double take when I told him he is already being discussed here! I suggested that he first read the DZ section in the "Who's Who" of my book, which he has, and I believe he will do so. Sean is also a film maker and is interested in making YouTube clips of his discoveries and journey along the Norjak Highway. I also gave Sean some leads on how he might obtain information on his suspect, Duane Dick Jarman, such as height, weight, build, etc, which he had discounted initially. In short, Final Suspect is the story of Sean's mother's family and how it befriended Duane-2. It's an interesting story - one of warmth, trust, and growth - where men struggle to grow beyond alcohol and conning the world. I hope he continues to tell us his family's story.

Jo - and how many writers talked to a source at the same time you were? Like Us! With Jane and her husband Lee. I was talking to him at the front door and you were talking to Jane in the kitchen. How is that for synchronicity? We must be quantumly entangled. Whoa. ABSOLUTELY NOT! They never want to see you again. You only interview for sensationalism... You do not want the truth & the individuals you have interviewed are completely put off by your tactics. The individuals I contacted - (not interviewed) are real people with real information to offer on the history of the background of a subject...pro and con. I was not showing up on their doors unannounced as you are known to do... WHY would anyone spend 18 yrs of their life on something if they did NOT believe with all of their heart & soul the person making the confession did so truthfully? I refuse to let our government get away with this outlandish - concealment of a crime. If they ACTUALLY investigated THE THINGS I DID & spoke to the people I did...they would not have ignored Weber or have swept him under the mat so quickly unless they were order to do so. The FBI and the interviewer refused to accept my verbage - it was damaging. I refuse to be a part of a scam. I will be damned if I will deliberately lie for anyone! Then when it is all over and the day before I leave this transport truck driver shows up and tells me where to go to look for the things I need to know....why didn't the FBI provide me with that information.... Why did the FBI not offer up an investigator to go look for the place with me? Seems like the FBI are UNDER ORDERS to ignore certain things...and Weber was one of them. Cooper made fools out the authorites to the extent it is less embarassing to just say unsolved rather than admit they dropped the Ball. Maybe the FBI was forced to bury Cooper - the verdict will be out on that one till the end of time unless the FEDS open the files.... I did not have access to the files the government had, but I questioned more people & spoke with more principals than the FBI did regarding Weber. BIG QUESTION IS WHY DID THE FBI LIE ABOUT THE JEFFERSON FILE & WHY WAS THAT PICTURE & FILE NOT MADE AVAILABLE TO THE PUBLIC AND HIS WIDOW.... I BEGGED for IT. My guy spent a lot of money to go to JEFFERSON at their invitation and when he arrives they turn him away. That was 2004. Then in 2013 (9 yrs later) Shutter is able to produce it on this thread. WELL, LET ME ASSURE ALL OF YOU there was NO PICTURE AND the context of the infomation made available to me was sketchy....I have my correspondences with a very nice woman - and THERE WERE no pictures and the file that was accessible was santicized...not anything like the other files from the other prisond nor like what SHUTTER was able to produce... My guy spent a lot of money and time after we corresponded with the prison - only to be turned away when he arrived...ORDERS! Shutter produces the information for me 9 yrs later - after the FBI Had refused to make the file available. This thread had the same information made available to me by Ckret in 2004 - and it did NOT resemble the information that has now been acquired. I BEGGED on the PHONE and on the thread and in private emails...you guys wonder WHY I had it in for Ckret? Shutter produced the file in 2013! It contained the one thing I BEGGED for from Ckret - the intake photo, but not the out take. The the intake should caused the FBI to relook at Weber. I still think we are entangled in the quantum. Maybe its the torsionial effects of the Vortex. All that spinning... ...it can put a blade of grass into a telephone pole. Just ask G-1 - he'll tell ya.

Why do you think they waited so long, Jo? 1. FBI is dazed and confused? 2. FBI didn't give a shit. 3. Duane was a low priority? 4. So much DNA, so little time? 5. What's another five years in the Norjak case, anyway.
-
So, how many markers are available in saliva, such as found on cigarette butts as compared to epithelial cells?
-
My understanding of this, (from a couple of phone calls and emails from the Seattle FBI) is that there was never a DNA test done on the cigarette butts. This is because when they went to find them...they were missing. So they went to the tie, and according to Special Agent Fred Gutt, they were only able to obtain a partial profile...which according to Gutt can not positively ID a known suspect's sample as Cooper, but can ELIMINATE them from contention. I am not a DNA expert by any means, so for any clarification you would have to approach the Seattle FBI on this. Assuming Fred Gutt is telling you the truth and that you have correctly interpreted what he was telling you, what degree of certainty would you place on your above statement? 1. FBI is 100% truthful in saying it lost the ciggies before they went to look for them for the 2002 DNA test. 2. FBI 80-90% is truthful in saying that the ciggies were lost before they went to look for them. 3. FBI is less than 50% truthful in saying that the ciggies were lost before they went looking for them. I know you like claiming mathematical probabilities on human behavior, such as you feel 90% that KC is DB Cooper, so how about Gutty? Along those lines, how about the 2002 KIRO-TV news broadcast and Pat Forman. 1. KIRO-TV is 100% wrong in telecasting that the FBI tested DB Cooper's ciggies for DNA? 2. KIRO is 50-50? 3. Pat Forman is 100% mistaken? 4. Pat Forman is 50-50 - besides 2002 is so long ago....
-
Duane-2 may not be DB Cooper. Just read Sean Patrick Walsh's book, which is really an essay about a family friend. No solid evidence, and the circumstantial stuff is pretty thin - handwriting and the like - a letter to his grandmother in 1968 and "Letter #4 from DB Cooper," which was the one from the Province newspaper in BC. But Sean and I are meeting for beers tomorrow, so we might be able to solve the case by this time tomorrow night if all goes well and he keeps buyin'. Or, I just meet with G-2 on Saturday as planned in A-burn. Stay tuned! In the meantime, here's the gist: Duane Dick Jarman was a con-man, an alcoholic, and an inmate at Cowlitz jail during the 1960s on charges not revealed. Sean's grandfather met Jarman at AA in Kelso, took him home for a din-din, and eventually Duane became a valued family friend. However, in 1968 Jarman disappeared. Nevertheless, a handwriting expert says there is an 80% match on the handwriting of Duane between a letter to Sean's Granny and the letter from the BC newspaper. Also, no physical attributes of Duane discussed. DoB was 1936, so Duane was 35 in 1971. No pix, height, weight, etc, revealed. So, Sean has a lot of work to do....

Nope. Just speculating. You got any ideas where the tie was over the Thanksgiving Day Holiday weekend? Any ideas on whose epithelial cells were on the clasp? Any ideas on where the ciggies are? Where the ciggie-DNA report is? Just askin', G-1. After all, the FBI is a family biz, so to speak. Just sayin'. By the way, G-1, Calame says that none of the G-men he and Rhodes talked to said anything about a tie. No one saw it, and no one retrieved it for evidence. You got an opinion on that? In case you know any of Red's relatives, please tell them I say hello, and if they're up for it, I'd love to talk. As always, you can call me anytime... 360. 832. Six-Two-Four-Eight.

Yup, Duane did it, but the other Duane, apparently. In the very near future, I go to chat with the investigator who solved Norjak, Dean P Walsh. Full report to follow.... This case is so vast we're beginning to replicate - - Two RHs - Two Duanes (No 'w' no 'y'.) - Two G's (G-1 from Iowa, and G-2 from Fairbanks) - But still only one Cousin Brucie. Thank Gawd!* * As far as I know, pending corrective action from G-1.

Thanks, Jo. Love to you. Love is all you need...

Greetings RPG83 and welcome to The Show. Here is what I know concerning your questions: 1. Parachutes - Whether DB Cooper used his own parachute is open to some speculation since no one saw him actually jump. He may have had his own chute if he or someone else brought it on board at MSP, Spokane, Missoula, or even DC - all prior stops to Portland. However, no one saw him bring it on board at Portland, and Tina Mucklow reported that he put on a parachute soon after takeoff, so presumably he jumped with that one. The question of the parachutes is huge and hotly debated. Major questions still are unresolved - such as who owned them, how they got to Sea-Tac, and if Earl Cossey's murder in 2013 was tied into Norjak somehow, as Coss steadfastly claimed the chutes were his. When we find Cooper, we'll certainly ask him about this important aspect of the case. (smile). 2. DNA: When I asked Norjak case agent Larry Carr about the DNA in 2008, he told me that the FBI had a partial sample from epithelial cells taken from the metal clasp on the tie. Carr freely admitted that the cells - and DNA - could be anybody's such as an FBI agent who put on the tie, etc. Remember, the tie was four days late getting to the evidence locker in Seattle and no one know where it was over the T-Day holiday, or at least no one is publicly talking about it. However, the bigger question is what happened to the cigarette butts Cooper left on the plane, which are the most ideal source of DNA. Again, Carr admitted here on the DZ that the Bureau had lost the butts - presumably after they were tested at Quantico in 2002, as is reported by KIRO-TV in Seattle, and witnessed by Cooper researchers Ron and Pat Forman. Hence, we have multiple mysteries about the DNA - who lost the ciggies, who lost the DNA report developed from the ciggies, and lastly why weren't the ciggies in the evidence locker at Seattle, as Carr reported that they were in the control of the FBI office in Salt Lake City. Presumably the butts ended up in Utah because when Flight 305 landed in Reno, Nevada, the hundreds of LE awaiting DB were led by Red Campbell, the SAC from Vegas. So, possibly Red also took the tie home that weekend to show the folks, etc.... So, if CODIS can tell us anything about DB Cooper's DNA, possibly we'll know more about the activities of the FBI through the decades, especially Red and the good ole boys from LV.

I've got the scent of RH II's trail. He's not at W Parachute Sales, Inc, which is a woman-owned business, by the way, for all you gun-totin', red-blooded, testosterone-laden men out there... ...but Ralph Hatley is booking skydives via Skydive Eagle Creek. He is about 77 years old. RH II apparently uses his cell phone to do the booking, but he ain't answering today. His old line at West Parachute is not accepting calls. No email, apparently, either.
