Tom Fazio did point out where the pipe was laid for that dredge operation and it was in that location.
-
Snowmman There is no dredging material deposited on the shoreline anymore its all held in a holding tank on board the dredge and dumped at location that the Army Corps of engineers has leased. The reason it is done this way now is because the conservationist felt it was destroying the natural habitat for the little fishe's if the material was to be dumped on the shoreline.
-
In looking at the photo's the dredging materal was deposited beyond the tree line. The sand and water seeped down somewhat like a land slide and formed the beach.Fazio stated that they took large dredge pipes and placed them on shore then pumped the material on shore. He also stated that the propelers on the pump would tear anything apart, and that when Brian found the money it was clumped together. However he also stated that there was pieces of money scattered above where the bundle was found along with other debris that had been washed ashore. I would also like to add that Toms GPS location of where brian found the money was close to the exact location that Brian remembered finding it.There was one major problem with the GPS though. Tom kinda forgets where he lays it down.
-
Ref where money was found: In a recent diccusion with the fazio's it was stated that the money had to of washed up on tena bar.He also pointed out that all dredging material deposited on the bar was about 100ft above (further in land) from where the money was found and could not have gotten there due to the dredging operation.

Everyones interest is the same and so is the outcome that we all hope to gain. However there are those that would rather make up stories in order to give themselves a gold star. childish don't you think.

The black berry vines are tall and thick and a total nightmare if you land in them at nite you wouldn't realy want to move untill daybreak, so yo can figure out what direction you would want to go.The patches are normally prety large and mixed with neddles in the summer. In the winter its just the blackberry vines. The best way to get out of them is to crawl its easier to nogtiate at the bottom of the vines there stiff and you can move them around to make your self a path.Your hole body will be full of stickers and in a lot of pain. Then your enemy will be infection. But you could survive it.Although you may wish you hadn't. The stickers normally fester up within 24 hrs. Some you can pop out some you can't. I hope that answered your question .Georger can fill you in better on the infection part of it , better than I can.

Wow I do no who brought that up about the Ice climbing Imean but it sure brought back good memories. thanks, The experiment I'm sure the results well be very exciting as well as informative. That is the experiment about which dog bite's his tail first right. (humor)

My Info is fact. Your good at researching info on this stuff. So Im going to let you Know there is another source of information on the weather for the night in question. There are other sources than pdx that keep track of the weather an its wind conditions in the portland and vancouver area. Think search and rescue think shiping Ect.Then also think I may know someone that actually was flying in the weather that nite. either source will give you the answers you seek. By the way how is the weather down there in california. Its 20 degrees here.

Sluggo Longveiw fiber does most of the logging in these area's and they generaly clear cut. Yes it was like this back in 1971 as it is still today if a logging contractor had of found something pertaining to this case or any artifacts of any kind, it is unlikely it would have been reported. If they report any findings, they have to cease operation emidiatly this cost thim time and money( then there wive's get mad because they can't pay there bills. Just a little humor.) However from the air it looks just as you discribed.Hope this answer's your question.

Snowmman: I don't recall saying I walked north for miles from where I camped in a single day. I follow the direction of the streams and search both sides. There is a lot of dead fall out there even lying across these streams the area is full of neddles and blackberry vines. The forest floor has a lot of over growth and dead vegitation, in a lot of case's every step is 3 ft deep in vegitation/debris I would welcome the opurtunity to take you out in to this area. Then you can report back to the forum on the diffulculty of traveling in this terain. I will be taking a man out in this area next week Im sure he will post his evaluation of the terain for all of you to read. There has been many would be gung ho searchers that I have introduced this area too. Unfourtunatly they gave up the first day.So come on out here I'm sure we can have a very interesting search.
-
There have been thousands in that area. But without a untrained eye people have a tendency to overlook things.Have you ever been looking for something and couldn't find it then ga back hours or days later only to find what you were looking for in a place you had already looked.
-
Snowmman A simple question requires a simple answer (your question on the woods) Sluggo is just quoting what I said. I had Base camp sites in the woods and would move the site when I finished searching a particular area. What is meant by staying in the woods for months at a time is that I wouldn't go home. From 1989 to 1995 my home was in eastern washington. 200mi away so I would remain in the woods only leaving long enough to go to the nearest store for supplies .I would sometimes return to my base camp and find things stolen but that was something I had to except.Ive lost riffles supplies a car equipment ECT. So you see you can stay in the woods for months at a time. I don't mean to imply that I didn't go home for years I did. Sometimes my brother would come looking for me and bring me supplies. Sometimes friend's would mostly people didn't get to woried about me unless I went 3mos or more with out contacting them.

As for me runing into people being lost. Why do you think they were lost they had gotten themselfs to far into unfamiliar teritory. As for being physicaly fit is concerned I'm a fat old man and still move around pretty good in the woods of course I move slow but you have to do that when your looking for things.
