Three times in the last year I have been unjustly singled out by the police for very minor reasons and treated like an ax murderer. The last time the cop did everything in his power to get me into a fight. This peace of shit got in my face and spit on me, yelled, held his flashlight with his left hand and balled his fist with the right and with jumping forward like he was about to strike. This went on for 10 minutes.....and my reaction was nothing but stand there, keep my cool and watch this ass make a fool of himself. Maybe I could understand if I had given a hard time, but I was very professional and would not even consider myself to be a "problem". Not to mention this guy has trailed me twice in the last few months. I now carry my mini disk recorder around everyday so I can record the next stop.....I may not be able to use in court(wonder why??????) but when people hear it, they will know who the thief is. Exactly! This will do nothing but INCREASE their power and leave little or nothing for the private citizen to do when the police over step their power, and especially since 9-11, the police are feeling their oats. Every complaint should be recognized and investigated. The Good'ol Boy network cover their tracks very well. Nothing like living in a police state when you are the police! Nothing like having power over people, bust them in the head and have a Union and a City to give them unlimited backup! I have been reading about innocent people who spend years in jail and are cleared of the crime......Why are the investigating officers, prosecutors and judges not investgated, held accountable and on trial for their mistakes? Above the law? "Some call it heavenly in it's brilliance, others mean and rueful of the western dream"

By far the best live album ever recorded is the Allman Brothers Live at the Fillmore East 1971. But just about anything recorded live from either Fillmore is off the wall! I rarely ever buy studio stuff anymore. I do not want to hear Pro-tool tricks, I want to hear the REAL band!

OMG I love Tears for Fears! I saw them here in, I think, 1985 or '86 ... not great seats but not nose bleeds either. The show was amazing and afterwards, we decided to meet some friends at a piano bar in a lounge in a downtown hotel. We walk in there and lo and behold, who's there but Roland and Curt! Talked to them for a bit, they sang a few "lounge songs" with local piano player and went on their way. It was really cool. The one thing I remember about that is damn are they short!. But like you said, GREAT music! Somewhere in the abyss that has become my house are LP's of theirs and pictures from that night. Guess I have to clean up! 'Shell In 94 I worked at the Ritz Carlton here in Houston and Sting checks into the hotel with a few of his friends and band members. Sting talked the bar manager into keeping the bar open for them for a private party until 6am. I stood at the back of the service area behind Sting while he played and sang piano tunes all night. It was a real treat!

How can I explain to these faces that we are not going to the DZ today because there is no pilot?! It was hard, but I managed!

Houston - Possibility of relocating, need advice
cloudseeker2001 replied to kansasskydiver's topic in The Bonfire
There are good and bad things. Traffic, lots of it! But it actaully moves faster than the other 5 big cities. Lots of good places to eat and a great selection on the types of food. A few great places for live music. Lots and lots of money here and the cost of living is still very low for the most part. But, since the Katrina people have invaded our city, crime has jumped something like 200% and the murder rate is off the charts. It is really that bad and these people stick out and they are here to stay! And the air pollution is pretty bad as well. I am only good for another few years in Houston, and then it is time for the mountains. -
Merle Haggard and Don Williams. And I think JJ Cale should be included as well but he is really more blues. Actually most people do not know who JJ is.......

Have you seen the Live in the Flesh tour? I have the DVD and it is really cool.....And my favorite guitar player, Doyle Bramhall II is playing lead and singing all of David Gillmore parts......

I just saw Dave Mathews Band last Friday night and it was probably the best show I have seen in a long time. Music and sound was great. I am not a huge DMB fan but every song was out of this world. I saw Tom Petty a few weeks ago as well and it was another good show-much better than the DVD I have.

Anyone Volunteered for Peace Corp or equiv.?
cloudseeker2001 replied to guppie01's topic in The Bonfire
I have heard a lot more Peace Corp horror stories than good ones! Usually people who get sucked into the Save-the-World college seminar and think this is their calling! The last time I was in REI, two girls where shopping for gear and they thought they were trekking out west for a few weeks! I don't think they would ever make it...........And don't forget, your are an American and a target! You could be the next Jill!!!!! About every six months I have people fuck with me at work........After it goes to HR and the investigation starts, it is a circus. And too, whenever something happens, both of us must write a statement. This is the fun part, the guys I work around can barely write their own names much less a statement! Play the game and grin!

Wis. Banned From Killing Gray Wolves
cloudseeker2001 replied to warpedskydiver's topic in Speakers Corner
I spent 7 days in the Gila Wilderness last May and never saw any of the Mexican Gray Wolves. It would have been very nice to have seen one! -
What happened to your cat and how did you train it? I have an older friend that raised one for almost ten years before he was drafted into the army for nam. He has all kinds of great stories......One I like is when a pack of wild dogs chased him up a tree while hunting in the wilderness of west AZ and the cat pounced on the dogs and killed four of them OJ style!

The downfall of WFFC and Skydiving in general
cloudseeker2001 replied to brenthutch's topic in The Bonfire
This was a great post until you slam'd HST. I have read every one of his books, most more than once, and I think your statement is obtuse to say the least.........if you do a little reading, and discover who HST really was, you may be surprised. -
Drums are great and lots of fun! If you are serious, find an instructor who went to school for drums.....Maybe someone who went to the Drum Institute in LA. Drum theory and what time really is in music and how to properly count is very important. Drums are cool!
