    These people are scavengers. They will find a use for everything, so if they find metal, wire or anything, they will do something with it.....and here is America shooting them down.......it is kinda like killing a buffalo and then waiting for Indians to come along to skin it...........get the point?     When the bear was charging you, do you think he was just runing down the hill, or do you think he was trying to scare you? I do not have much experience with bears. I have seen a couple in the Wilderness, but, never any encounters. How old do you think your bear is? I am glad you did not tree him with dogs, that is not very sportsman........

    I have 20 jumps on new Spetre 210.......does not turn as fast as my 9 cell 240, but opens so slow, at times I wonder if it will ever open! The flare is a little late too, but thats not bad.....I think it a very safe canopy.

    I was on a white water rafting trip a few years ago and a guy in a high performance kayak found himself caught under a log jam and drown.........his friends had just pulled him out and covered him up as we passed.......bad day on the river for them.     Yea, me too.......I was looking at what REI had to offer and I like the Wilderness. And it has lots of storage space. As for handling, who knows. I have checked into a club here and was thinking about calling to see if they had any to rent before I drop 1500 on a boat. I know I want a big one for multi day trips. Looks like fun and lots of places to explore around the Gulf Coast.

    Why not consider bear spray? I usually carry spray as well. And in the event something did happen I would try to use the spray first......I called the airline and they told me no bear spray on the plane, not even checked in. So, if I want spray, I will need to buy it when I get there. I think I will pass this time. Little chance of bears where I am going this year, but there are mountain lions.

    1. At least 3 ways to make fire. 2. At least 2 ways to purify water-and you really should get a filter and collapsible bucket. 3. Quality rain gear. And know how/make sure all your gear works together as it should before you get on the trail. I will be in southern Utah the first two weeks of October.......6 days on the Green in Canyonlands, 4 days in Buckskin Gulch and on the Paria to Lee's Ferry. Lots of fun!

    If you have the auto-headlight accessory when it gets dark, it is probably a bad sensor or something in that circut. If you do not, broken switch....stuck in the on position.

    If you have an out, take the out......if you are in a corner and your life is jeopardy, then it is different case. I can think of two different occasions that my life was threatened and I was armed.......Both times I had an out and chose to run away and not kill the other person, and I think it was the right thing to do.

    I bbq'd for-and got drunk with-a bunch of lesbians at a lesbian pool party........everyone had a great time and the food was really good.......I did get a little nervous when they all started jumping off the roof of the garage and into the pool!     Yep, sure does.............Went on one myself last Friday night and it was a joke.....I have been talking to her for about 2 weeks and went out for lunch a few times....Friday night went out to eat really late as a last minute unexpected thing and after, she asked me to come over and watch a movie......her apartment was filthy. Not just a little un-kept, but Texaco Mens Room filthy...that was all it took for me! By looking at this girl, I would have never thought that!
