  1. Due to the nearly arbitrary ways--people call it a lottery for good reason--in which we've tightened immigration, the distinction is not nearly as clear as it seems. If we could magically enforce all the immigration laws on our books today it would decimate the economy. There are clearly undesirables among the mix of illegal immigrants, as there are criminals among our "legal" citizenry. Criminals among illegal immigrants do not justify wholesale deportations of the people whose illegal migration supports our economy, any more than the criminals among us citizens justify locking up the rest of us. You seem to have changed your tune a little.
  2. I agree, the unions have out-lived their usefulness. It's a whole new ballgame, now. Chuck I think it is a whole new game. But I work with three different unionized companies every day and they are much better to do business with than most others. Unions also ensure quality work and skilled tradesman.
  3. Actually, to make a very narrow point, I believe that most average, ordinary people are born with sufficient raw intelligence to absorb the education and practical training needed to become reasonably capable doctors or lawyers, given enough time and opportunity. But...that's not the point of the thread. I work around doctors that have been educated far beyond their intelligence. 4. Ignorance is seductive, there's more myth than truth in your remarks. Trespassing on property is unrelated to immigration; the labor market is not fixed--immigrants (yes illegal ones too) create jobs, boost wages and generally contributes to the economy; immigrants commit as many or fewer crimes than locals; money is not public property, it circulates. Just say you don't like immigrants, that's more direct. Here's a deal, if you quit trotting out the veiled (racist) blarney, we'll stop calling you on it. HAHAHAHA!!!!!! You can call me anything you like Honey! I can even speak more suductively than that if you like. I think I know what I am talking about and I think you know what you are trying to deny. And legal immigrants are completely different than illegals who cross the border to work as day laborers. I am very well versed in what skilled legal immigrant labor can do for this country. Unfortunately illegals bring crime and other bad habits to our land and it is simply not worth the cost of cheap day labor. I just happen to live in an area that is about 80% "immigrants" in my sense of the term and I am never amazed by the things I witness. So, if you would like a 15 year old prostitute from somewhere in Central America who has been smuggled across the border to add to our economy, come on over, you can pay the gang pimp and you can have good time! 5. You are way off..............these people are trespassing, do little to contribute to our society, commit many, many crimes and get away with it and then when they go home to spend what they made here. And we are suckers to allow it.....but some people are suckers to think any different. "Some call it heavenly in it's brilliance, others mean and rueful of the western dream"
  6. Cool. But... but... if they're not illegal, as the liberals here imply, then why would they run? Well, I'm liberal.........and they run like hell because they are ALL illegal! My only compliant is that INS did such a poor job of surrounding them that many got away! Yea, I know....liberal people are supposed to love illegals, hate guns and dream of giving Hilary Clinton head all day and night! That is not what Truman would do!
  7. you know, that is a really SHITTY thing to go and call Brandy and say some shit like that. I hope she finds out who it was and let's them have it. The nerve of some people to try and start shit like that. Sounds like he might be cheating with you! "Some call it heavenly in it's brilliance, others mean and rueful of the western dream"
  8. QuoteHere's me putting out S/L students from a cargo door u-206 in about 1981. We wore our caps backwards in those days not because we wanted to look like Gangsters, but because the frigging wind blew them off otherwise . . . NickD

  11. I do not know about other cities, but in Houston, an HPD cop cannot legally ask a person if they are illegal.....yea, really odd! "Some call it heavenly in it's brilliance, others mean and rueful of the western dream"
  12. Other mysteries about Home Depot: * why don't they check your zoning permits * why don't they ask to see your electrical / plumbing / etc licensing Houston has no zoning. That is why housing is cheaper here than other cities. And why would HD care about trades licenses? "Some call it heavenly in it's brilliance, others mean and rueful of the western dream"
  13. For any of you that have the Crossroads guitar festival DVDs, there is a hidden track of "Layla" by Eric Clapton. To view, on disc two, go to extras. Push the left arrow button on your control twice. The blue highlight icon will disappear. Press enter to see Clapton play "Layla" at the festival. Is this known info or have I been living under a rock? I am going to try tonight.......I just got the new 07 Crossroads and I like better than the first! The sets are different and the whole concert is concentrated music wise!

  16. I spent 12 days in southern Utah on vacation last month and I was very surprised by how many new, very young cops are patrolling the highways. I stopped for coffee at a store on HWY 6 near Price and two young cops cased me pretty hard. They did not stop me, but they were looking for something to jack with me about. I think the older, more wise sheriffs must be retiring and the younger ones are fresh out of the military. Which will not go well in places like rural Utah, Arizona and Idaho. Lots of isolationist and lots and lots of BLM land out there! The animals will pick bones clean! Even in Moab the cops were doing things I have never seen them do before. 17. NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I do not like your dream interpretations and I can self medicate!!!!!!! "Some call it heavenly in it's brilliance, others mean and rueful of the western dream"
  18. I have not seen nor talked to my X girlfriend in two years. This morning I had a dream about her and I was so pissed off during my dream that I forced myself to wake up.........I was pissed off for most of the morning..........When it was time to get ready for work, I put on a undershirt and felt something wrapped around my arm and sleeve. I looked and found a hair, and not just any hair. This hair was about 2 feet long, dark auburn red, thin and silky......no doubt it was HERS!!!!!!!! And it was wrapped tight around my arm as if someone had just tied it! She has only been to my house once and that was two years ago and this was a clean shirt off the hanger......Almost everything I own, and I mean everything, is brand new within the last two years.....How odd is this?
  19. Criminal mischief? Has anyone the foggiest idea what that mean? I have had cops threaten to arrest me for criminal mischief when one of my dogs crap'd in a wooded area of a park! "Some call it heavenly in it's brilliance, others mean and rueful of the western dream"

  23. Isn't it kind of hard to play a round of pool with all that hardware in the way? Is that a real M60 in back? I want to know if the silencer for the MAC 10 is real? I just took another look....Is that an MP5 with a silencer too? Fun toys!
  24. This girl I knew had a problem with a re-visiting peeping tom. She but boards around the house under all the windows. The boards had long nails in them sticking up. She covered them with a light layer of pine straw. It worked...twice. Evidently there was more than one peeping tom operating in the area. that is setting a trap and is a felony. But it would be a lot of fun and it would work wonders! "Some call it heavenly in it's brilliance, others mean and rueful of the western dream"
