Any Kindle users out there? We have one in my house that we got back in February right when the second version of Kindle came out. I saw today that Barnes and Noble is releasing a reader called the Nook. It's pretty nice and adds a lot of things that the Kindle lacks (including a little bulk). Andy I'll believe it when I see it on YouTube!

Unfortunately RAW doesn't increase the dynamic range of the camera. It just eliminates compression when the file is saved in the camera. Most dSLRs have around 8 stops of dynamic range. I don't know about point and shoot cameras but imagine it's less. An advantage of RAW is that it will keep a lot of the details in the shadows and won't compress it away. Highlights that are blown out are just lost. There's really nothing you can do to get detail back where something is pure white. Andy I'll believe it when I see it on YouTube!

Here's my shot at it. It's hard to get detail in the rigs on their backs without getting too much artifact. Look at the right hip of the jumper on the left and you'll see what I'm talking about there. This is about 10 mins in Photoshop with a couple of adjustment layers and some unsharp mask. How big is the original file? 72kb is a really small file to work with. If you can send me the original file (unless this is it), I'll have a go with Lightroom or with Photoshop and see what I can come up with. Were you looking to get some of the details back in the shadows? I think that the sillhouettes effect looks good as it was shot. Andy I'll believe it when I see it on YouTube!

I'm on a PS3. Anyone else on PS3? The levels get better as you progress as expected. I just got on the oil rig for a hostage rescue and called it quits for the night. Andy I'll believe it when I see it on YouTube!

Sounds like an awesome trip! I would love to get out and see the southwestern US. Crossing my fingers for a June 2010 road trip. I just looked up Petroglyph National Monument in New Mexico and was surprised to see that "Archaeologists have estimated there may be over 25,000 petroglyph images along the 17 miles of escarpment within the monument boundary." That's a lot of rock art. Keep the pics coming. I'd like to see more! Andy I'll believe it when I see it on YouTube!

So far I'm on the only one who has answered "Don't know I only have boy's." I have three boys and the older two (7 & 9) are getting that way with food. They'll have two plates at dinner and then graze for the next three hours on whatever they can get thier hands on like crazed zobmies after human flexh. The attempted grazing starts about 2 minutes after they get home from school and a full onslaught about 10 minutes after dinner is done. I read somewhere that during their teen years their daily caloric requirements can exceed the norm by two or three times. Can't wait for that...We're already shopping 2x a week to fuel their little furnaces. Andy I'll believe it when I see it on YouTube!

I switched over a couple of years ago and there is a bit of a learning curve. It's not painful though and I don't even miss the software that I used on PC that I haven't invested in for Mac. It was well worth the switch for me. I don't know of anyone who has switched and regretted it. You'll like it... Trust me! Andy I'll believe it when I see it on YouTube!

Government employee here. I turned pro years ago. I need one of those government jobs... I've got one of those too. Even on a day that starts out really busy, I'm usually caught up by about 8:00 or 8:30am. No complaints though. I've become a pro at looking busy in only 14 months. You can also just go in and manually adjust the jump number on the Viso. I've done that and it's not too difficult. Then your log book numbers will still match the altimeter. Andy I'll believe it when I see it on YouTube!
