Right on! LOL I hereby dub said pipe as Orchist the Goblin-Smoker! "May it blacken the lung and char the tongue of many an Orc for years to come."
-
LOL! However, I must say that if you haven't tried some quality pipe tobacco in a good pipe then you don't know how potent and mellow and enjoyable it really is... In fact, it has inspired me to sing a song. "In the middle of the Earth, In the land of The Shire Lived a brave little Hobbit, Whom we all admire. With his long wooden pipe, And his fluffy woolly toes, He lives in a hobbit hole and everybody knows him, Bilbo, Bilbo Baggins, Only three feet tall. Bilbo, Bilbo Baggins, The bravest little Hobbit of them all."
-
I just got a couple new pipes for myself and my brother for Christmas and was just curious if anyone else also enjoys the gentle art of pipe smoking.

I have an idea for the cave base photos. You should be able to upload the full size images to ftp.skydivingmovies.com. Maybe even pilot dave or whoever runs the site could add a seperate area for photos instead of just movies. I think that would be great b/c people are always asking for cool high res photos for wallpaper, etc. Just a thought.

170mph on belly? what the? (Pro-Track question)
Sinkster replied to Sinkster's topic in Gear and Rigging
Answers: It's mounted externally to an Oxygn A3. Burble could definately be it. I know for a fact I did on one -- it was a 6 way combat rw. And on the other me and another dude were doing some funky linked barrel roll stuff for fun. I thought about Jump Trak, but no one has it that I know of at my dz. But eventually when I get the dough I will get it b/c it looks useful and a lot of fun. -
170mph on belly? what the? (Pro-Track question)
Sinkster replied to Sinkster's topic in Gear and Rigging
No one saw those particular tracks except the start of them which they said looked good. In any case, I will just keep working on my track to maximize the glide ratio so that should fix it if it really is a significant issue. Thanks for the info. -

170mph on belly? what the? (Pro-Track question)
Sinkster replied to Sinkster's topic in Gear and Rigging
On 2 seperate RW jumps this weekend my fairly new Pro-track said I got a max speed of 170. The first time someone said I might have been going head down in a track which explains the speed but I couldn't figure out how I didn't know that but I still practiced rolling my shoulders and getting flat. So, on another RW jump the next day with me exiting as part of the base so I know it wasn't after exit I got 170mph as well on the Pro-track. This time I did some very flat tracking rolling my sholders with legs straights out, etc. What gives? Anyone know how 170mph would come up, or does the protrack give a vector speed including horizontal movement somehow? My Pro-track is set for SS. Thanks for any info about it. Just curious if this is a bug or something. -
Woman files lawsuit against parachute firm over accident
Sinkster replied to gus's topic in The Bonfire
Agreed. I thought better about this person than that but I don't know her real well so I guess I was wrong. (still her friend though, but upset and saddened) Does anyone have any more details? I mean... what could she possibly sue over? -

Woman files lawsuit against parachute firm over accident
Sinkster replied to gus's topic in The Bonfire
Yeah, I hope she has a really good reason, but it sounds like she doesn't which is a shame. I would have hoped for better but you never know. Since I don't know anything else I will reserve judgement but you are right if there is no legit reason and it's hard to imagine one. -

OOPS! I wasn't thinking when I wrote that. I meant PC in tow. Sorry!! You're right. EDIT: Actually, thinking back, it was intended to stop horsehoes also. At least the pin loose loop breaking kind. But PC in tow is the biggie. -

I think I know who this is but I will not say more about their identity and this info comes without warranty or guarantee of any accuracy whatsoever. In fact this is all rumor and has no merit at all. Be that as it may, I heard that the container was a pud system and that the person experienced a hard pull for whatever reason. Then, when pulling the reserve the person also experienced a hard pull for whatever reason. The crypres saved them. That's all I "know". I will say though that if this is the person I am thinking of they are fairly experienced and levelheaded and a very good person. So whatever happend had to be some major crap! I was surprized to hear about the incident, but am VERY happy that the cypres was there like a guardian angel watching over this individual. Btw, ironically they were allegedly using a pud to avoid horseshoe malfunctions. -
Republicans win when elections are about issues. The Democrats had no issues to run on this year, only Republicans to demonize. Your picture is a classic example of the irrational attacks on Republicans that are void of any meaningful content at all. You just point and scream "dummy!!!" and hope it works. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.

Some questions for you Americans about the election
Sinkster replied to hagar's topic in The Bonfire
They are only "checks" for those who favor Democratic agendas and policies--which I don't. They were not "checks" but chains. Let's hear it for freedom! -

The 60 votes is only needed to evoke cloture which effectively stops filibusters. So the Republicans will still be able to get things done, it's just that the Democrats can slow down the process as long as they can keep debating--which can't happen forever. It's just a little muck in the gears that's all. -
Also, I find it amusing how evolutionary psychology can be used to explain anything and everything. Man cheats on his wife? Oh that's evolutionarily advantageous because he's gotta get his genes out there. Man doesn't cheat on his wife? Oh that's evolutionarily advantageous because then the man can insure stability and focus his resources to insure that the children he does have make it to adulthood. You get the idea. There are better examples than that but it's often used in the same way.

You are making a grave mistake if you think you can derive a moral "ought" from a factual "is". Even the atheist philosopher David Hume didn't think so--in fact he is known for what I just said. Just because someone has a natural tendency to get so angry that they want to kill someone doesn't justify the killing. Heck, children have natural tendencies to do all kinds of things that we consider wrong--like stealing. It is only with good parental guidance that they learn how to best properly behave.

Cool passage quote, re: high-risk sport specialists
Sinkster replied to Airhead's topic in The Bonfire
I think it would be hilarious to carry on ur rig in a bag and then take it out and sling it over your shoulder and go up to the pilot before takeoff and say "hey, uhhh... would you mind letting me know when we're over Baltimore? I tried to get a ticket there but everything was booked slam full for a couple days. Thanks." -

Since you asked, I graduated from AFF in 6 jumps w/o doing a tandem (i combined 6th and 7th requirements into the 6th jump). 1st jump was AFF 1. 4 of the jumps were done in one weekend. It was pretty tough and mentally exhausting though.
