hehe, it's all red bull's fault!

YES! AMEN! Another believer! Just that ONE thing destabilizes the dramatic movement of Han Solo from scum to a 'better person'. Also, how in the HELL is a BOUNTY HUNTER going to MISS someone from across a frigging table!!!!! Can someone explain that to me please? Making Greedo shoot first is pacifist propaganda pushed on us by lucas, similar to the lame 'death sticks' (cigarettes) thing in episode 1 or 2.

An even better reason to download and archive the originals that do exist! btw, i'm not as serious as i sound, a lot of this is in fun, but i'm still archiving the original laser disk edition to dvd and backup hard drives. it's fun to really get into something semi-trivial!!! hehehehehe

Some of you don't care. I can deal with that. You probably wouldn't care if da vinci came back from the dead and put neon lights and a rainbow cloud on the mona lisa. Fine. Some of us, however, do care about art and want to preserve it.
-
Yep, and I can do what I want with them too. Check out www.originaltrilogy.com for more info about this! When I have kids they are going to watch the originals like I did. Not the 1000th revision. It's not the same movie any more.

Fellow dz.commers, As you may know, the egotistical George Lucas has decided to never release the original theatrical versions of Star Wars on DVD. He has instead decided to digitally defile and dumb down the originals so that they are more on par with the current crappy offerings. During an interview with Lucas the following was stated: Q: Why not release both the originals and special editions on DVD? Lucas: The special edition, that’s the one I wanted out there. The other movie, it’s on VHS, if anybody wants it. ... I’m not going to spend the, we’re talking millions of dollars here, the money and the time to refurbish that, because to me, it doesn’t really exist anymore. In other words, the original movies, the movies that put Lucas on the map and made him millions, the movies that made film history, will forever be lost if something is not done! Luckily, the best existing copies of the original from laser disk are available for download onto DVD. There are currently 3 copies of the movie made from the Definitive Edition laserdiscs, all with great care, probably better than most people could do themselves: http://everythingisnt.com/torrents/ So download these files, burn them to DVD, don’t buy the new movies, and let’s send a big F.U. to george lucas! Thank you. Spread the word. ----------------------------------------------------------- Lucas: "[Star Wars fans] think it should be their way. Which is fine, except I’m making the movies, so I should have it my way." Me: "Fine, have it your way, asshole!" *downloads the originals* I will never buy anything from lucas again.

if this was fark.com this article would get the /obvious tag. :)

Sure there is, but we are Americans. Why shouldn't we care about OUR nation first and foremost? I don't give a flying flip about my next door neighbor unless he's bothering me. I'll carry the analogy further and say that I live in a huge mansion on a massive tract of land, and my neighbor lives in a shanty on a postage stamp. Why should I care about his place when I have so much right here? That's a harsh statement and would piss me off (rightly so) if I heard it from your perspective, but that's how a lot of people feel about it, and I don't blame them.

Memo fairies?

Really? They aren't the only ones with nukes, and I don't see the Chechens having any problems with it. The Afghans for that matter either. Nukes didn't help em much there.
-
Good for them. I don't think they can back that shit up like we can though.

Provided we keep our defenses built up, not really. USA defense spending, 2004: 466 billion. Rest of the world defense spending combined, 2004: 500 billion. Looks like good enough odds for me.

Here's the most convincing article so far that the memo's are a fraud: click me! (as if more proof was needed) Excerpt: "Of more than 100 records made available by the 147th Group and the Texas Air National Guard, none used the proportional spacing techniques characteristic of the CBS documents. Nor did they use a superscripted "th" in expressions such as "147th Group" and or "111th Fighter Intercept Squadron."" "A CBS document purportedly from Killian ordering Bush to report for his annual physical, dated May 4, 1972, gives Bush's address as "5000 Longmont #8, Houston." This address was used for many years by Bush's father, George H.W. Bush. National Guard documents suggest that the younger Bush stopped using that address in 1970 when he moved into an apartment, and did not use it again until late 1973 or 1974, when he moved to Cambridge, Mass., to attend Harvard Business School." "The CBS memos contain several stylistic examples at odds with standard Guard procedures, as reflected in authenticated documents." CBS should burn for this.

I want to be able to defend myself in the face of extreme looting and rioting or invading aliens from Omicron Persei Eight.

hehe, i would have, but i was too young then. hate to say this, but normally i wouldn't have worried about getting anything, but with the threat of another ban i better get something while it's still possible! (legally) sort of like run on napster before it was shut down.
-
Now that the AW ban is about to lift, I was thinking about stocking up an armoury with some good weapons, clips, and ammo. Anyone have any advice on a good place to shop for previously banned weapons and big-ass banana clips and stuff like that? I'm thinking it's going to be real hard to find anything since it hasn't been manufactured for so long, but maybe someone stockpiled or prepared? Any tips?

my granny (80 years old) is a registered Democrat and will stay a Democrat (her words), but is voting for Bush

Well, here is superimposed image of Microsoft Word vs. the documents. They have been lined up according to the period after the '1' in the first paragraph. The 'originals' are in red, the Word version in blue. Edit: I should note that the difference in the 187'th' has to do with the difference between screen fonts and printer fonts; in the printed version they are aligned perfectly. Someone else did this comparison. Check out this quote also" "Having plenty of documentation available from my own military records - allow me to point out that the standard appearance of "TH" is not superscript even in today's word processor age, but capitals - if this were "real" it should have been typed "187TH" something I used to hate dealing with before I learned my way around Word's autocorrect features. And another thing while I'm on it, gettting out some of the older paperwork while previewing my post - I notice that rarely is "TH" added, I do see it in a few memoranda I have still, but it is always capitalized, or assumed. For instance I served in the 35th Maintenance Squadron, 35th Logistics Group, 35th Fighter Wing, MIsawa, Airbase, Japan - almost every document from there is formally typed: 35 MXS, 35 LG, 35 FW, MISAWA, AB, JAPAN. Looks fishy as hell to me considering it's a lot easier to tack on "th" in a Word Processor compared to an old gov't issue Typewriter." -
ur probably mostly right, but i've heard stories of this bird being a target for logging 'hit men': http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/nature/birding/redcockadedwoodpecker/red_cockaded_woodpecker.htm
-
ironically, (and i dont necessarily endorse this) but the endangered species are often shot on sight whenever possible so the body can be hidden so the authorities don't find out so the logging can still take place. so again, ironically, the laws to protect the species often hurt them because people secretly will eliminate them so they can still log before the endangered species is discovered. not endorsing it, just saying it happens "beware of the red cockleheaded woodpecker "
