Nice stereotype. So are you still in this country, enjoying the money you're making in this bass-ackwards culture? ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.

No, but I imagine it would be a shocking experience. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.

I've had two tandem drogue malfunctions that prompted a deployment at greater than 12,000 AGL. (One was over 15,000), and on both jumps the passenger and I felt the harnesses were uncomfortable to the point of our legs being asleep upon landing. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. With the profit margins involved with skydiving gear after the discounts common in this industry, such a deposit would likely be within 85 to 90% of the purchase price. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.

Now THAT'S pretty good! ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.

Vector 3 main flap (not pin) snag potential
diablopilot replied to danielcroft's topic in Gear and Rigging
If it works. I have had a breakaway on a SkyHook equipped rig and had the SkyHook disengage and fail to do it's designed job. Instead I had a normal RSL opening. You may get the canopy to line stretch sooner with one, but you'll have a longer snivel. The SkyHook is neat, but too many people see it as "magic beans". In reality from a breakaway you're not saving more than about 100 ft on average. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously. -

Obama: It's OK to borrow to pay for health care
diablopilot replied to bodypilot90's topic in Speakers Corner
Weak retort. Personally imposed moral obligation and government mandated fiscal obligation are not one in the same. So should I be financially obligated to take care of a person who knowingly participated in a high risk activity AND knowingly accepted the responsibility of those actions (remember the waiver?) simply because they didn't take on the personal responsibility of planning for the possibility of an accident? You want me to pay for health insurance for someone else. Great. Can I get them a latte' as well? ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously. -
Obama: It's OK to borrow to pay for health care
diablopilot replied to bodypilot90's topic in Speakers Corner
So can you assure me that this "new" system, will not cost me any more than I am paying being taxed right now? I skydive and consider it my responsibility to keep paying for my own heath care coverage because of the risk, should I be forced to cover additional costs for those who do not have that level of responsibility? Of those millions talked about who "can't afford coverage" how many have a Nintendo sitting under the HD TV? How many have a $40,000 car on the drive way? How many eat out 5 times a week? ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously. -
Obama: It's OK to borrow to pay for health care
diablopilot replied to bodypilot90's topic in Speakers Corner
Because unless there is an "opt-out" clause for the "National" system, where by I get to keep whatever I might have "contributed" (read: been taxed), then I probably won't be able to afford it. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously. -
I am sure that all of the major manufacturers of tandem equipment say 500 jumps, and by using their equipment a TI agrees to abide by all of their rules. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.

Good thing they were a commercial rated pilot, or things might have gone really wrong. How hard is it to keep up the airspeed? ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.

Almost all the student gear I've ever seen has a maximum use weight of 254 lbs. That's your weight and all the equipment weight combined (25+lbs). Do not let anyone tell you that it will be OK for you to jump a rig just because it "fits". Ensure you have safe equipment that is going to serve you well when everything else is going wrong. Your options include a modified tandem rig, surplus military gear, and perhaps one or two options you could purchase from a major manufacturer. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are.
