Learn to fly better? ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.

Why is it "unfortunate"? If you feel that way, don't coach. Period. Otherwise you are wrong for EXPECTING to be compensated for "helping out". ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.

Secondary lower performance canopy?
diablopilot replied to PhreeZone's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
Yes I can and have used my Xaos's for bigways, landed them straight in, in half brakes, in baseball diamonds and on demos. I choose now to pull out the Stiletto because it gives me more options. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously. -

Who throws INTO their burble? ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.

The sport has become safer because of the advent of such devices, however people who would have never been allowed to continue skydiving skydive because of them now. In addition many have developed a "fail-safe" attitude and therefore overlook safety. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.

It is quite reasonable to remeber who is on your load and what you can expect in the way of canopy trafic at MOST DZ's. Boogies and busy DZ's with multiple A/C and lots of visiting jumpers are the exception, but most of the time I know who's on the load and what I can expect. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Not like I know much about swooping, but... If you do a 180 landing, then you would be flying exactly against the pattern (you are with the wind in your back where the others are in final direction into the wind) before starting your turn, won't you? Isn't that more dangerous than a 270? edit for clarity Yes, yes, and YES! ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.

Bingo. Took the words outta my mouth.

Damage to Neptune caused by New Mamba
diablopilot replied to catfishhunter's topic in Gear and Rigging
Antagonistic remark removed by slotperfect What makes you think there is some "standard shape" to audibles? Since I've been in the sport and selling gear, just about every new manufacturer of audible has made them in different dimensions. The originally Dytter was a different shape than the Pro Dytter. The Time Out was a different shape. The SkyTronics are a different shape. Stop trying to blame someone else for personal fuck ups. Damage to Neptune caused by New Mamba
diablopilot replied to catfishhunter's topic in Gear and Rigging
I've installed audibles in dozens of Mambas with no ill effects. I seriously doubt the product is flawed since they are made from the same mold, finish cut by a computer and robotic arm, and there has not been an issue of this before. But go ahead and blame Bonehead because you assumed your square peg fit in a hole. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously. -
That won't fix the problem by it's self. Jumpers must get over the ego that they should get to swoop on every jump. They need to take some responsibility for being aware of their surroundings both in freefall and under canopy. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. And does he say it was done by adding crossbracing? ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.

I don't know. I don't care either. I skydive and instruct in USA right now. That's my concern. What's your point? ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.

One trend that hasn't been mentioned (and seems to get pushed to the side when brought up) is that 5 recent fatalities have been at boogies. A boogie ain't home, and ain't safe. You can be safe at a boogie, but must approach it as a MUCH more dangerous situation if you want to get out alive through skill rather than luck. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. So, do you state that a AWL BR can solve attitude an problem? I doubt it. What it could do is help restrict unloading until attitude and ego catch up with skill and experience. Lower windloadings generaly mean lower speeds. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.

Crossbracing does distribute a portion of the load from the line attachment points to the top of the non loaded rib, but it has very little to do with making a 7 cell fly like a 9 cell. That is a function of the planform and aspect ratio more than the crossbracing. Case in point, the PD Specter exhibits performance traits more similar to 9 cell canopies than many of it's 7 celled counterparts. Crossbracing can help a canopy design see a reduction in performance loss at higher loadings because the canopy is much less susceptible to distortion when maneuvering. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Also an excellent point. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.

Bullshit, you are hired and paid to provide a service. if you are not happy with the money piss off and find more gainfull employment. Tipping should only EVER be for something OUTSTANDING and above normal practice for the job discription. treating ANY customer less because they dont tip shows how porrly you are suited to the job. As for the 10-20 buck teaches the crew what you like, do your friggin job properly and make certain the customer knows what they are paying for. that way the customer pays for what is offered and the staff gets paid for what they are hired to do. Agreed. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.

I don't think there is a tension knot there. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.

Throwing it (allowing it to leave your hand with horizontal momentum) gets it to bridle stretch sooner, and decreases the chance the P/C will end up in your burble. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.

Damage to Neptune caused by New Mamba
diablopilot replied to catfishhunter's topic in Gear and Rigging
I might be wrong, but I think the Mamba was released before the Neptune. Not only that, but I think it's YOUR responsibility. Bonehead didn't install the audible. You did. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously. -
